    Here we go again.
Like many V19 expiring in Feb, decided to go with V21 offer (for now for a breathing space at least ) the other day - more expensive but no exit fee but no reward perks.
Then days later - just now- get this email from EON about "E.ON Fixed 1 Year £75 Reward."
It has exactly the same unit rates etc as V21 but a £75 online voucher (no info about where you can actually spend it)
but it comes with a..wait for it..£70 exit fee!
What EON give they take away if you decide to move.
Also why is this offer not included as part of my online account "Find our Best Deal "? Why did I have to enter my ac number and details on yet another separate website (a sub-domain of Eon) to get the quote and details?

Hello Patr100 and as per fredandwilma's post above, the email you've received is an offer we're trialling as part of our overall product review.

Just to confirm, the £75 Reward tariff is being offered to selected customers who are coming to the end of our Fixed 1 Year version 18 and 19 tariffs. The offer is by email to dual fuel customers only. The £75 version we've emailed to you is for customers who have been with us for between 13 months and 2 years. The email has a link to a joint Energylinx/E.ON website. Eligible customers need to go through this link for a quote and to switch.

As fredandwilma highlights (thanks fredandwilma), within 14 days of going on to the tariff, we'll email an e-code that can be exchanged for e-vouchers such as Amazon and Argos. This email will list all the retail outlets that can be used. The e-vouchers will need to be exchanged within 3 months.

As you say, the tariff has an exit fee of £35 per fuel for changing supplier outside of the renewal window. There are also no ongoing Rewards and Price Alerts will stop. Dual Fuel and paperless billing discounts remain though.

With the tariff being restricted to certain existing customers, it doesn't form part of our overall tariff portfolio and, as such, won't be on our website for general switching. It's additional to the Fixed 1 Year version 21 currently available through the website.

Our product review is ongoing as we look to learn lessons from the various trials we've been doing. The aim is to redesign our product portfolio for 2017.

Hope this explains Patr100. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

I think sums up the experimental nature of the E.on big wigs plans, and a total misunderstanding of what customers want. I didn't even get this offer, maybe they thought I wouldn't be bought! I'd still have liked the email though. Would still have left.

    Hello jlfan.

It depends on the circumstances. As above, emails offering the Fixed 1 Year £75 Reward tariff only go to certain existing dual fuel customers coming to the end of our Fixed 1 Year version 18/19 tariffs.

The £75 Reward version is to customers who have been with us for between 13 months and 2 years. The £100 version is for those who’ve been with us for up to 12 months.

Also, customers need to give us permission to contact them by email. Emails won't be sent where this permission hasn't been given.

Hope this explains jlfan. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.

  • Well (V19 ends 24th Jan) i'm out.
Of to M&S for my Leccy for 24 months with no exit fees. £15 cashback and £40 voucher.
More expensive but £50pa cheaper than V21 and can jump ship anytime.
EDF for 1 year fix with no exit fees. No goodies.
£210pa cheaper than V21 and again can jump ship anytime.

I suspect more pressure on electricity prices than gas hence the 2 year fix with M&S

Overall up by around 11% on current deal but massively less than Eons nonsence.
Did not even offer me the gimmicks.

Note please ensure you look at separate deals and not just dual fuel.

There now seems to be two threads on the same subject. I posted this on the other one.

My v19 runs out 1st Feb. The new v21 tariffs are up 41.6% electric and 46.7% for gas for duel fuels. Unbelievable. Unless a collective comes along soon, I shall be off, DEFINITE. You'd be a mug to stay for £75. I have a spreadsheet for all of this and my costs would increase by about £430 a year.
I've done comparisons, and I can significantly cut my gas bill with one company being variable and not fixed, and I have found another company that will only be about 15% more than v19 for electricity, again variable. Although both are variable, there are no exit fees. Overall, I would pay about £32 more than v19 in a year. So without a collective, I'M OFF.

I'm beginning to wonder if the following is the case. V21 has been available for a short time. The increases are eye watering. Could there me a collective in the pipe-line, where E-On can say that the savings are immense over v21, and probably a reasonable increase on v19? If not, You'd be a bit raving to stay with E-ON with v21.

Hi Malc, thanks for response but I'm afraid this jumbled thinking of tariffs that aren't part of the normal tariff list, Rewards for loyal customer of between 13 and 24 months of £75 or a bigger reward of £100 if you have been a customer for less ( I suspect a committee came up with that masterpiece), emails if I give you permission, exit fees equalling the rewards, honestly it is unbelievably baffling and if the aim is to confuse, baffle and get offside so many loyal customers the experiment has worked. No-one is more disappointed to write this as me, as I have been a loyal ( and happy) mug, sorry customer for 7 years, and my reward is a 34% increase.

Hedge your bets. Switch to Iresa (not on comparison sites) with no exit fees and then you can see whether E.oN comes up trumps. If it is a new customers only deal, then you will qualify. Note: Iresa does nothing during the cooling off period so you need to factor this in to your decision process.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I wrongly assumed all tariffs still appeared on switching sites.

Current spend is £1300 on the EHL Collective which ends next month. Received a lovely email from Eon advising I need to choose a new tariff and they'd love me to stay for £1900 !!!

Was leaning towards EDF £1500 but £100 TCB.

    Iresa would be about £1350.

Although reading another post about not making a dual switch. Iresa still best for Electricity but a similar price for Gas with Better Energy but for a 2 year fix. Think I'd rather keep a dual account though, less hassle.

    Decisions.....

Sorry for the confusion jlfan. As ever, Helena and I are feeding these responses back to those looking after the tariff trials we've been doing recently.

Are these 'trials' just switching to v21, then you pay back £75 or £100 pounds? Bearing in mind my increase using v21 would be about £430 a year? I don't understand why you use the term 'trials'.

I just switched to Iresa. One company, less hassle as you say, and my cost will be £9 more than E-Ons v19. Fixed for a year and no exit fees. Got to be one of the best deals available.
