Have done comparisons on a couple of sites including MSE energy club. All said the V18 with eon was the cheapest tariff we could've been on and any change will cost us more. Tell me something I didn't already know !! :(:( Have decided to switch to a longer fix with first utility until July 2018. It's not the best price wise - although not much more expensive - but we have decided a longer fix may be better.

v19 was appreciably cheaper than v18 -and subsequently ,there were several even cheaper EON collective tariffs.
Mine ends mid March so I'm giving EON until ~ end Feb . to come up with something approaching sensible -otherwise I'll take advantage of their switching window to retain the low rates as long as possible before moving to ??.
Currently the best tariff for me is with Avro (who I hadn't heard of!) -but it will mean ~ £250 more pa:eek:

Hello brewerdave and others whose tariffs are approaching their end dates. The Price Protection window is open 49 calendar days before a fixed tariff ends until 20 working days after. Provided we're told, customers switching supplier during this time will stay on the cheaper prices whilst the change goes through. Also, exit fees don't apply whilst in this window.

A tariff ending mid-March will probably enter the Price Protection window towards the end of January. We'll send a tariff renewal notice, usually between 42 and 49 days before the end date, to let you know.

Sorry to lose those who switch and hope this is useful.

Agreed: the online service and billing from E.On has been first rate, they're obviously hoping that apathy will retain them most of their newly acquired customers (which it probably will). Present company excepted, obviously. My premium to stay would be in excess of £400.

Glad you've been happy with our online services and billing macman. We've added lots to our website in recent times so good to know it's gone down well.

Malc, ( realising you don't set the tariff of course) but it makes the uncompetiteness all the more bewildering to acknowledge the customer service, the billing and the improved website functionality i.e. all the things that build the brand and retain your customer base, to then say goodbye to a proportion of those customers that would want to stay. Of those that don't move they are paying way over the market price for their fuel. Either way it seems an odd direction to go in after so much positivity that is acknowledged.

    All the best to you.
  • I'm in the same boat. Moved from BG to EON v18. I've entered the info for current tariffs into my spreadsheet. v21 is £200 more compared to current fixed rate but this appears to be across the board with other suppliers (compared to last year's prices).

Co-op are cheaper by £130, npower by £80 and EDF by £50.

Additionally, for some reason, EON couldn't change over my BG gas account but could change over the electricity one so there's a 12 day difference between the two.

Many thanks for your best wishes jlfan and have a good New Year.

You're right, Helena and I have no influence over the tariffs but we do regularly give feedback on the impact these decisions are having. It's good to see how positive most are towards the service they've had but fully take the point about the prices.

    Malc,

Best you pass on that many are moving on from E-on unless they offer a better deal.

Many deals are up in Feb.

    All the best for 2017

The reality is that E.On don't really want customers like us. They want customers who will not switch away and so will eventually end up on their Standard Variable tariff, or on an uncompetitive fix.
These are the customers who subsidise us serial switchers, so be grateful to them.
My current dilemma is whether to hang onto my current cheap Collective E.On fix until the last moment (mid-February), by which time today's uncompetitive alternatives may have become even more uncompetitive. or whether to bite the bullet now and go for the best one year fix available on the market. What do others think? I'm now into my 42-49 day window, so a decision has to be made.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Hedge your bets. Switch to Iresa (not on comparison sites) with no exit fees and then you can see whether E.oN comes up trumps. If it is a new customers only deal, then you will qualify. Note: Iresa does nothing during the cooling off period so you need to factor this in to your decision process.

Thanks for the tip on Iresa, not heard of them before which isn't ideal, but the cost is by far the cheapest option and I might just give them a try - still annoyed about E.on but time to be brave.
