Evening all - just a quick stop in. Been feeling really 'meh' this week - just stupid things getting me down and dragging on - but reading on here (and a good 6 mile run earlier) reminds me I still have the important things in life (well most of them) and to cheer the f*ck up
Peppa fingers crossed for your hair colour. I went to a (overpriced) salon years ago (before finding my lovely hairdresser I go to now) and said something like 'I've coloured my hair for so long I can't really recall the natural colour' Cheeky s*d doing my hair and charging me the GDP of a small European country said 'hmmm....mousy brown' Cheeky bastewatd I though. Needless to say no tip was forthcoming. However, I think perhaps on reflection, if it's good enough for the little mice, it's not a bad colour at all.
Vulpix I'm exhausted just reading your posts :rotfl: Any news on DD1 BF yet?
I have a couple of Pandora bracelets and my first (which is why i got it) has a Murano glass bead on from Venice - when I went into the store to buy the bracelet the woman actually said 'having a non Pandora bead on will invalidate the guarantee' !!!!!! I thought! Anyway, she also said 'just take the bead off if you need to take it into a store'
No more xmas news here, still waiting patiently for my little bags to arrive, thinking about chair covers (though heard that our fourth guest who usually comes for xmas dinner is moving away and prob before xmas) and thinking about home baked goods to do. Can't believe it's Aug already. Really just noticed the evenings getting darker earlier tonight.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Kerri, thats the spirit girl.Keep busy and active.Keeps my gremlins at bay!
DD's Bf ended up being in surgery 5 hours. They pinned the tendon.not something I ever knew was a thing. They said he could go home after something to eat and going to the loo.He was violently sick so they kept him in.He is so active and a massive eater,he had never been that long without food before. No driving for 6 weeks,no climbing for a year.He is self employed so difficult times ahead for them.Luckily DD has a reasonably well paid job as a speech therapist. All he is worried about is losing fitness for the climbing! He will have to run and cycle instead of body work.I am sure he will recover very quickly as he is such a fit person.
So far today I have done nowt but mess about on the computer.I need a kick up the backside.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on its been bedlam here. As you can probably tell, due to the time I'm posting this, its been non stop everyday.
I am pleased to announce the loft is complete! So relieved! It looks gorgeous and my son is so happy. We have had a very very hard slog this week but its been totally worth it. Had a blip with the carpet fitters but was soon resolved. Dds bedroom is more or less done, she is in it but just a couple of bits need sorting out which we will do over the weekend. Rest of the house is a disgrace still but there is light ast the end of the tunnel.
On the Christmas front, got DS an IPhone armband for when he is at the gym reduced to a pound.
Peppa- hope the over biopsy goes well, I agree it's ridiculous you have to go in overnight to save your bed.
Free- sounds like you had a lovely day out x
Murie- how as you doing after your bout of vertigo, hope you are feeing better.
Vulpix- wow you truly are a remarkable lady! I honestly don't know how you do it. I'm shattered. Now I have seen the 2 bedrooms updated it has spurred me on to do more. Our bedroom and kitchen next but the priority now is huge DECLUTTER.
Kerrigt- I love my Christmas chair covers, we got 4 from Avon and then 2 from pound land. The Santa hat style ones.
Sammykaye-hello and welcome x
Treasurequeen- glad you got your holiday booked, good idea for your brothers gift.
Clumsy42- thanks for the link, hope your referal gets you some answers.
Mrs i- sounds like you had an amazing time. Christmas hold will soon be here. Love the sound of the kids making the shed their playhouse, how lovely0 -
So many typos, sorry guys.0

0462,great news that you are pleased with your remodelling.I totally agree that just doing one room makes the rest of the house a complete tip.I spent yesterday tidying the whole house,it made me feel so much better.Today I will muck it up again to do little snag jobs in the bathroom and DD2's room and hopefully make a start in the room which will become Ds's room.I have a monster carpet cleaner in the way where ever I turn.If I just used it to try to clean dd2's carpet where my stepson fell through the ceiling it could go back to whom I borrowed it from.
Peppa? Hope you are ok.

I'm ok thanks V - I think the biopsy thing is getting me down, not particularly what it might show but that it's going to take 2 days out of my week for a procedure that takes half an hour. Anyway, that's just me whingeing I'm fine really. Staying at DD1's tonight to look after the DGSs so DGD is coming with and staying too then DD2 is picking her up tomorrow and then she's back the following week. It's been lovely having her here although it will be nice to move and not be followed lol. It sounds like your DD's BF had a rough time, it must be very difficult not to be allowed to do the thing you love most. That's good that DD has a good job to help cushion them but it must be a worrying time for you all.
0462 great news that the work is complete and the finishing touches nearly done. Can't wait to get to that stage! At least now all the ceiling dust has been worth it.
KERRI I know that feeling well but I agree, reading on here always perks me up when I need it. Riding my bike (gently round the lake) helps but I must confess the thought of a six mile run would have me heading for a darkened room. I usually colour my hair myself but I'll have to have it done professionally for now I think because of it being so fragile, even if it might require me to sell a kidney!
FREE I'm the same, I see lots of people with fabulous white/grey hair but I don't think I'm one of them. When I wore my silver hair lots of people loved it and I would have too - on someone else. It just made me feel old, I suppose the problem is I am old but I don't see myself that way. I always thought it was only pretty people who had issues with getting older but now I know it's not! If I'm going to look old I'd like to be apple cheeked, white haired granny old, not just me but more wrinkled, saggy and dull :rotfl:
Nice to see you again SAMMYKAYE
MURIE, thanks, the vibes are much appreciated. I'm currently debating caramel highlights (on a brown/dark blonde base) although every now and then I get the urge to go wild and have green or blue or purpleI was going to have the platinum colour like my 'hair' but I think the roots would be a nightmare.
Watching Mrs Miracle at the moment, nothing like a Christ film to brighten up a rainy day. :TIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Peppa I like the apple cheeked white haired old lady image. I would like to be the farmers wife in Babe the sheep pig.Sadly I am just a fatter wrinkly me.I see older women with bright hair but I always think they had a nice head of hair to start with, not fine like me.My skin is dull to how it was years ago.I have started to wear tinted moisturiser and a bit of blusher.I have stopped at having giant black eyebrows. My sil btw has had hers tattooed.
I am not surprised how you feel about the biopsy.I think you get to the point where you have just had enough of being mucked about with. I was the same with my lump a while back.
Did no decorating as it was actually a nice day so spent it in the garden, chatting to passers by etc.Mr V working today.I also made another cushion with the welsh blanket fabric which is now not needed for sons house.
I have my daughters car as she is going to Romania with her Romanian friend.Whoopee I will go to a car bootsale tomorrow the first for months.Mr V always works Sunday mornings.Might pick up some Christmas bits if I am lucky.

I am still thinking of doing a split hamper for my grandparents but still unsure as to what to put in it. My gran is doing slimming world and my grandad is diabetic. so its a bit of a mine-field.
I was just passing through and I spotted this, I have extensive experience of both so I thought I would offer some suggestions
If it's food you want for your gran, there's absolutely loads of SW friendly chocs etc out there- mum and I trade SW sweetie hampers every Xmas! Chocolate wise- Freddos, Curly Wurly's, finger of fudge- all can be bought from pound shops; sugar free Werther's- (my mum loves the apple ones but they're mega hard to get) also the fun size packs of bars of choc are another great idea- relatively easy and cheap. Boxes of Alpen Light cereal bars are another good idea as they can be used for her Healthy Extra. If she's not into chocolate but likes trying out recipes what about some of those little jars of spices- I'm doing SW and have a cupboard full of them, they keep for ages and they can be relatively inexpensive and I imagine would look great in a hamper. There are shed loads of Slimming World recipe books on EBay or you could print off a selection of the enormous amount of SW recipes online which you could put in an inexpensive binder
My dad is diabetic also but he has a bit of a sweet tooth. Holland and Barrett sell an excellent range of sugar free sweets, and my Dad says Boots no added sugar Belgian chocolate is lovely. I found loads of no added sugar sweets for my dad in my local hospital shop last Christmas; or really good quality dark chocolate in small amounts is okay for diabetics too.
I hope that helps you xx
Ps I have absolutely no idea where the mad face at the top of the post came from, sorry!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
V the tinted moisturiser is a good idea, I've noticed my skin is duller than it used to be too so brightening it up can only help. Now you can see my eyebrows I've started supplementing them a bit with an eyebrow pencil - my sis had hers tattooed and by BIL said she looked like the chinaman character from Benny Hill and kept calling her a sirry irriot.
You're right re the biopsy, I think that's it, I just want to be left alone.
MRSRYAN printing off the recipes and putting them in a nice folder is a good idea. I wish my mum still cooked and I'd have done that but she's more into microwaving ready meals these days, she says at 82 she can't be bothered to cook. I tend to go with photo related things now as she likes pics of the great grandchildren so I think it might be photo coasters for her this year. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Hi all,
Another day of decluttering yesterday so having a well deserved rest today. Just ordered polo shirts and shirts for the kids school uniforms.
Vulpix- We are currently looking at what to do with the kitchen now. I did want an extension but dont think we will now as we are not planning on staying here long and I dont want to lose any of our small garden (yard). Cannot wait to continue and ugrade the whole house. Looking at new sofas now and dreaming lol
Pepppa- Can understand your frustration at the hospital. Take all your christmas notepads, books etc and use your time to really plan christmas. When I am having a bad time, like when I was on bed rest for 3 weeks, I eat lived and breathed christmas lol
MrsRyan- fantastic ideas for the slimming world hamper. Really thoughtful too.
Hope everybody else is doing ok0
