Fram- happy belated birthday! Your DS sounds like a credit to you
Crazy cat lady- one DH is MORE than enough for me lol!
Vulpix- You could sew one stocking a month then it wouldn't pile up on you to be done in one go? (I always have these good intentions to make one thing I need a month in preparation but rarely do).
Peppa- glad you enjoyed the theatre, sounds like an idyllic afternoon yesterday too.
Lady Morticia- welcome!
Well my tree is down and all the decorations put away, and I am pleased the two rooms are looking clean and uncluttered- all I have to live with now is the glitter and green tree bits that I will no doubt be finding for the next 6 months! I haven't found anything i the sales either- although apparently I 'bought' a birthday present (March) for DS when he went to Bicester yesterday (a santuki knife down from £237 to £69). So I suppose that's one present ion the pressie stash for the year so I am up and running. I also ordered 2 sequin table runners from china yesterday for DDs 21st as she would like a great Gatsby themed party. I dunno how I am gonna find a flapper style dress to go round me if I don't shift this weight I have put on since my accident though I may be going in a set of curtains as my outfit! I have til July to lose it so no big rush but I am charging my fit bit up as I speak.
Yesterday wasn't a good day as DBIL was rushed into hospital as he has had Novo virus since before Christmas and now has septicaemia (he has mental health issues and refuses help/interaction from all carers and us etc). DH let himself into his flat as BIL hadn't been answering calls etc and found him, so called Gp who called the ambulance- 6 HOURS later they showed up despite DH calling them every 2 hours. Then he was taken to A&E where he was still at 8.15 this morning as they cant find a bed! DH had to leave him at 10pm as he is diabetic himself and needed his insulin and food as he hadn't eaten since 8am. All I can say is that it has been a catalogue of disasters from start to finish, I know that our health service is stretched but I didn't realise to what extent. I feel so bad for DH as he is the only one of the family that make an effort with him as he has literally cut them all out of his life due to his mental health problems. Luckily DH is very very thick skinned and wont let him get his own way all the time so make fairly regular contact even though DB isn't happy about it. DH is out today attempting to clean his flat while he waits for the social worker to see what has been going on then on to try and find (hopefully) which ward he has been taken to to take him some new pjs and slippers etc up.
Sorry for the rant, just needed to get it off my chest!
Hope everyone has a good day!lovin' this site!

murie - That is horrible, I hope he gets the care he needs. It's such a shame that he had to wait so long on an ambulance & a bed at hospital. It must be so hard for your DH being the only one to help him out.

I have bought lots of Christmas fabric in the hope of making everyone a stocking for next year and maybe for our craft challenge.I have enjoyed that this year.Looking forward to 2017's.
Is the craft challenge part of this thread? I'll look forward to that, what month do you start it? need to get my thinking cap on and get supplies in (not that I need any, I could make enough for 20 Christmas with my current craft stash )crazy-cat-lady wrote: »I'll never forget the look on the woman who served me face when I took 5 husband cards to the checkout.
I did that with bf cards once and the cashier actually said to me " do you realise you have more than one" :rotfl:
Franalamadingdong happy birthday for yesterday enjoy your 30s make the most of it, once I turned 40 I found overnight I became 'old'
murie sorry to hear of your troubles, the NHS round your way sound horrendous, I know there are issues everywhere but it seems it really does depend on where you live how a good of service you get. I had an uncle as you describe. My dad was the only one of the family who would try to help him everyone else gave up, like you say you need to be firm and not take any nonsense, my dad also spent hours trying to get him help from SS but it is so difficult when people don't want to help themselves. SS are stretched enough trying to help those who want it, it is extra difficult trying to find help for those in need who are difficult about receiving it. I hope he recovers soon for his and your husbands sake.0 -
Oh, Murie, what a dreadful day for you all, l hope your DBIL gets the professional help he needs and that it isn't left up to 'God and good neighbours' and your DH!
Yes the carnage continues, with the printers paper tray, and a door handleDS1, DDIL, DGS2 have gone to Newcastle to watch the football match, DGD stayed with me and DGS1, they wont get back til around midnight and then they set off back to china at 0700 tomorrow.
That is when my decs will face the music. DGS1 went shopping to the outlet village with his mum, dad and girlfriend came back with lots of clothing 'stuff' and a school backpack, all with the current favourite makers label. Now it is teatime so off to feed'em.0 -
Welcome to the best thread on the forum LADYMORTICIA.
MURIE I do hope your BIL gets the help he needs and agrees to accept any help that's going although goodness knows there isn't that much help around. It must be such a worry for you and your DH. The ambulance situation is getting ridiculous. I'm sure we all understand the need to prioritise life threatening cases first and the restrictions around funding but that's cold comfort when you have someone poorly and in need of an ambulance and you gave to wait for hours on end.
Had my CT scan today to check why my blood markers were high when I saw the oncology consultant. Have an appointment to see him again on 20th Jan so, working on the 'no news is good news' principle, I'm hoping not to hear anything before that.
I've compromised on the decs - all is back to normal inside but I've left the tinsel round the necks of the reindeer in the front gardenIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Silverburn wasn't too bad. I got there early and it was gettjng really busy by 12pm ish when we were leaving. The guys were out directing traffic and the car parks were full!
I did managed to pick up some Birthday presents for feb and March. And some online treats from Ness and Joe Browns for myself.
Who was into Bullet Journelism? My sister got me an A6 Leuchtturm dotted book and told me to Google it. I remembered a couple of ladies here did it. She knows I'm really anxious and my mind wanders, so she thought Id enjoy writing it all down, doodling, planning the future etc. I did Google, Pinterest and you tubed it and have seen some great ideas. But I'm worried I start and want to change it all and mess it up. So any tips would be great.
Any one plans for New Years eve? I Never go out any more. No baby sitters, but can't be bothered really. I will be having a glass of bubbly to see in the bells, then bed about 12:30am probably. Rock n roll lol.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Will have everything crossed for you Peppa. Xx:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

What a nightmare, you poor things! I really hope your BIL improves for all of your sakes. I can't imagine what you're going through as a family, but your DH is amazing to persevere when everyone else has left him to it.mrsinvisible wrote: »Oh, Murie, what a dreadful day for you all, l hope your DBIL gets the professional help he needs and that it isn't left up to 'God and good neighbours' and your DH!

I have just found this thread from a link on Facebook. It looks really great. Hoping to get some good ideas for next Christmas. It will take me a while to work through all the links at the beginning. Thanks to whoever took the time to put them up there.
Heading into Glasgow tomorrow to do some sale shopping. I am usually quite good at buying half price cards and wrapping paper. I have been a bit disappointed in other things in the sales over the last few years.
nic2075 my daughter works part time at Silverburn and the parking at this time of year is horrible. Thankfully this year all her shifts have started at 9am so I haven't had to give her a lift like I did last year, but one day she finished at 1pm and it took her 40 minutes to get out of the car park!0 -
Welcome to the thread Hippipal. Hope that you find some of the links useful - do let me know if any are invalid or unavailable.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
