Ugh town was absolutely heaving. Much worse than in the run up to Christmas. The kids spent there vouchers and I bought a few household bits in John Lewis with the vouchers we got for Christmas. No christmas prep for next year as the shops were just to busy.
I've already decided I'm crocheting my mum and sister a blanket each as a stocking present next year. So I'm going to be on the lookout for some nice quality wool. It'll probably take me all year to do this though.
Got a new planner as my secret santa gift this year that I'm currently trying to fill in. So many birthdays. This will keep me busy for some time xx0 -
Mischiefmanaged - I love a new planner, mine is at home. That is my task on 2 January 2017, I will get everything down in my planner - so excited!!

Welcome all new comers!
Sorry to hear about plans going awry peppa.
Glad to hear you all had a lovely Christmas. Ours was really nice too. I'm overawed by how lovely my boy is. So proud of the thoughtful, kind, and loving person he's becoming and it's 100% my favourite gift at Christmas. It's only us two, so it'd be so easy for him to be spoiled. It'd be easy for him to become bitter about his dad showing no-little (intermittent) interest in him. This Christmas time my DS said, "everyone has two dads. Their dad, and God, who is everyone's father. So it's ok I don't see my dad, because God is my dad too and he's always with me and in my heart." I should add he goes to a church of England school, but he said they didn't tell him that, he worked it out himself. It was so beautiful to know he's ok. He's got the whole village looking out for him, loving him and ready to guide him when he needs it, so although it's just us two, he has got much more. He sees my parents all the time too!
DS spent the day with my dad today actually. The made bread and put together a wardrobe. Mum and i went shopping and I have beautiful glass baubles £7 reduced from £30, gift tags and ribbons etc one pack 99p reduced from £1.99, one pack 49p reduced from 99p and one pack was supposed to be £1.50 reduced from £8, but I have just checked my receipt and they charged me £2.40. I might contact debenhams and tell them. I'd have checked earlier but the queue was huge and I had mum with me (who has still got an injured wrist). I already have gift wrap that I bought in last year's sales and some from the year before that, so I didn't buy any, even though the card factory had 6 rolls for £1!
I don't tend to buy gifts at this time as wants and needs change, but I've started wish lists on @mazon for each family member/group to keep ideas for each person. I find men so hard to buy for.
It was my birthday yesterday. I'm now 30! Unfortunately, I still look like a child! Haha. My grandad forgot and I think mum's made him pay for that, mum and dad got me a card "to my daughter in law" which was hilarious, and my sweet sweet boy made me a card and wrapped up one of his books (we're going on a Bear Hunt), but as he couldn't find the tape he used glue. haha. It was still so adorable. Mum and dad made up a little cocktail kit for me and gave me a licorice pipe to go with my slippers because I'm now old! DS said " muma, you're old now, but you don't have crinkles!" Crinkles are wrinkles. And I made a beautiful cake.
Sorry! Super long post!!! In short, yay nice Christmases, ours was nice, DS is delicious, birthday was nice, picked up some bits for next Christmas!
Oh, and thanks for artificial tree tips. We'll be getting a new one, we lost 3 branches this year, and it's a bit baldy!0 -
Belated Happy Birthday wishes FRAN, glad you had a good day. Your DS sounds really sweet and the village you live in sounds really supportive.
Welcome to the thread ABERDEEN5. My DD bought me two 'crochet your own' kits for Christmas - don't think she realised I can't crochet lol.
Well the tree is down and everything is back to normal although I still need to put it back in its box and in the loft.
I haven't braved the shops but had a lovely day getting everything straight in here and watching old episodes of Death in Paradise, I love that programme, pure escapism. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -

Happy Birthday Fran and Welcome Morticia.
Today i need to knock spots off.The whole house needs cleaning and I need to do lots of cooking ready for NY Day.We are going out for a meal and "do" NYE.
I have been out to several towns in the past few days and I must say,not much in the way of bargains about. As someone said I don't think shops carry as much stock as they used to in the past so they don't have too much to sell off after Christmas.
I bought some new lights yesterday.I wanted warm with green flex.I found some but when I plugged them in some of the lights are a random blue.No mention of that on the box, they will have to go back unfortunately.
I am looking for a white linen tablecloth and a pvc tablecloth,my table is massive.I can find them online but not at any reduction.
My friends daughter had a little boy on Christmas Eve,he is called Gabriel.
Peppa, what a shame about your day out with your daughters,at least it will be something to laugh about in the future.
I have bought lots of Christmas fabric in the hope of making everyone a stocking for next year and maybe for our craft challenge.I have enjoyed that this year.Looking forward to 2017's.

Boxes and boxes of sale things being delivered the last few days. So the cats are happy with the boxes and I'm happy that the present cupboards are getting re-stocked. Boots split my order into 5 boxes and I just got an email to say that they had to cancel a few bits
it's ok. I usually go more mad than I intend to, so they'd done me a favour really. I've now got all my daughter's clothes and toys for her first birthday in August put away. Lots of v-tech toot toot animals sets from in various sales. Usually I'd brave going into the shops, but not this year with a 4 month old. So it's all been done online from the warmth of the house.
The only shop I'm gutted I can't get to online is card factory. I like to get a few in of the personal cards..husband, mum, dad, all of you. That kind of thing. I stockpiled years ago and bought several for my husband, so I had them in to put away. I'll never forget the look on the woman who served me face when I took 5 husband cards to the checkout.Book a week challenge: 11/52. Competitions won in 2021: 120 -
Franalamadingdong - Aw what a lovely thing for your Son to say. Also well done on the Christmas bargains & a happy belated birthday!
Peppapig - My tree will come down in the new year, I will miss it. House always looks so bare when the decorations come down. I have never heard of that show might need to have a look into it.
Lady Morticia - Love the name! Wow that is a lot of birthdays in December.
vulpix - I need to do all my cleaning today when I finish work, in till 1pm today so not too bad.
crazy-cat-lady - Oh how exciting. My present cupboards are bare, will get them stocked up as & when I see any goodies on the sales. Haha that is hilarious, imagine having 5 husbands! 1 is enough for me!
