  • Morning all, not been that well all week, so not firing on all cylinders. Can't complain, not had as much as a sneeze for the last couple of years, so it was bound to happen. Will try & catchup later with all the gos here!

Had letter from old credit card yesterday, under Plevin rules they are going to send me a cheque for £600ish. Imagine I could dispute the amount, but it is better than a smack in the belly with a wet fish, no work involved, so will say yes. Promptly went on Ted Baker site as there is an MSE 30% discount code, so got 4 presents, cost £80, so happy bunny. Think code expires tonight, so if you want have a look, need to be quick :)

Just popping in quick to ask for some help! We are travelling to my inlaws for christmas. We arrive on 23rd December, its a complete surprise for my fiancees mum but her stepdad and sister knows we are flying over! Anyway, we are talking about getting them a hamper delivered because we only have hand luggage and also having something posted and delivered may put her mum off any impression that we might come over.

Any ideas on where to get a decent but budgeted hamper for 4 adults? We are looking at cadburys as an option......

    Afternoon everyone,

MANDCO it does take too long for these diagnoses to happen that is why I told DD2 to keep at it, badgering them. I hope Taz gets there soon and then you will know how best to help him. I don't think the JL ad is very Christmassy either and my first thought was  to kids that worry about monsters under the bed!

Thanks he's doing ok lots of structure and knowing his triggers makes a big difference. He's very visual so we have lot of charts for daily routines ect which help. The biggest issue I have really is because he doesn't have "a yes this is a problem" the school don't really offer any support and he isn't really disruptive in class other than he sometime doesn't seem to listen but that is because you have to make sure he is engaged and actually paying attention which they don't do. His teacher last year was amazing with him but we've had more than a few issues since he went back in september.

GYD so after all the hassle so far they now want you to pay for their holiday that's what it seem like  fingers crossed they don't let you down any further and things go ahead.

Nic hope today is a better day grief has no rhyme or reason and some days it just hits you out of the blue even years later so take care of yourself.

Coxy teens suck seriously love them to bits but they can be hard work. Girls I find are easier to buy for than boys my middle ds I don't have a clue and he still can't think of anything else he actually wants so wil probably end up taking him shopping in the sales just need to find a few token bits so he has something to actually open on the day.

CREATIVEGIRL how annoying hopefully you'll be able to source the one you need somewhere. My lot have names that are rarely found on pre personalised items and most people spell/pronounce dd's name wrong which winds her up no end though I guess picking a name with 135 variations  was always going to be an issue :rotfl:

GTQ hope your feeling better soon this year everyone seems to be constantly ill. £600 no work involved is def a bonus

Princesskitty hope your all on the mend. It is terrifying having to rush your lo to hospital for breathing issues so glad to hear he's ok

apologies if I missed anything important brain like a sieve at the moment

well got taz off school again today with a stomach bug :( wouldn't be so bad but it means taking more days off work so no pay and no doubt a warning next week for taking time off though not sure what else they think I'm meant to do if he's sick and off school? I can hardly leave him home alone. That said he seems to be picking up one thing after another lately he had an ear infection a couple of weeks ago and hasn't been right since.

On the xmas front did the nectar double up and got the new release game ds wanted for £7.99 :D
Finally got gassy the cow for Taz manged to get it down to £15 so happy enough with that.
DD had decided she want to make hampers for her friends again this year so picked up a few bits for those.

Oh and taz has his mini bedroom xmas tree up :shhh: its early I know but he been asking for weeks and I did say after halloween which technically it is and I should have been more specific as he does take things very literally so I couldn't really say no but he's happy so that's what matters.

Pimark have some great grinch clothing unfortunately Taz has decided he hates the grinch so I can't buy any

really depends on what kind of things you want, what budget you have and when you want to buy?
if your looking at chocolate then cadburys or maybe thorntons for something a little posher
For a food/drink hamper I know last year a few companies like M&S/johnlewis had upto 1/2 price offers on selected hampers much closer to xmas

  • nic I am so sorry to hear you have been feeling sad, it is understandable and I imagine it is a pain that never really goes away. Big hugs to you. And I can only imagine how infuriating the school run is, I’ve been reading a lot about it in the media lately about how there is so much irresponsible parking/driving and how everyone gets road rage. It’s such a shame people aren’t more courteous as you are all in the same boat. We are actually taking that into consideration as we’re choosing a school for Wiggle next year, luckily our local school has a special agreement with the nearby supermarket that parents can park in their car park which stops a lot of that. It also gains the supermarket a lot of business I’m sure!

StokieBecks we also have our first Christmas without my Grandma this year, she was the real matriarch of our family and it is so strange without her. It still doesn’t really feel like she’s gone. I hope you and your family can take comfort in all of the lovely memories you have over Christmas.

mandco oh no poor Taz! I do hope he feels better soon. In regards to work, as you say, what are you supposed to do? It is such a grey area isn’t it? But the bottom line is parents have to be home to look after their children when they’re ill – no question. I do hope it’s not too awkward for you. I feel your pain re illness, one or all of us has been ill for the past month. DH back is finally getting better but now he’s got a cold that has triggered his usually dormant asthma. One day we will all be well!!!

weeclick I had a look at some hampers on M&S a little while ago and some of them were quite reasonable.

Sorry to hear so many are ill or have family members who are ill. It's definitely that time of year again, seems everybody I speak to is either unwell, has recently been unwell, or have a family member unwell.

I have quite a busy few weekends now on the run up to Christmas, which makes me feel like there isn't enough time to get anything done. In fact, just thinking about it now it looks like we have something on every single weekend between now & Christmas. Catch 22 because it's nice to have all these things to look forward to, but I do enjoy having some quiet time on the weekends too.

mandco - I hope the school sorts themselves out, sounds like the current teacher needs to take some tips from last years teacher.

GTQ - hope you are feeling better soon. That was a nice surprise from your credit card company. Funnily enough I had a letter from my credit card company telling me about the Plevin rule & asking me to complete a form if I wanted to make a claim. I thought there's no harm in trying, so sent the form off a few weeks ago so hopefully I should hear something back soon. Would be nice if I had something back before Christmas, even if its £50 :)

weeclick - the M&S hampers look lovely. I'm not sure on the prices as it was a few weeks ago I looked at them, but I do remember them having a variety of options in regards to the price & contents, so might be worth a look.

I have so much to do today. I'm in work at the moment (taking an early lunch) but I also have to collect an order from M&S, take some returns to the post office & arrange a collection for some stuff I ordered from Next that I've changed my mind about.
  • Princess kitty - totally agree it still doesn't feel real I don't think that Nan won't be there for Christmas but we will put her little branch tree up as we always did as we will be having Christmas in her bungalow for space purposes.
