OMG, 100 pages! I feel sorry for the new comers now who find us & want to catch up!!
I will probably be putting my tree up around the 1st December. We usually put our decs up a bit earlier than that, but still no closer to getting the decorating finished so I have to wait unfortunately. On the plus it does mean that the real tree can be bought at the same time. Last year we put up our fake tree & all our decorations in the middle of November, but had to wait a few weeks for places to start selling the real trees, so my front room looked very unfestive in comparison to the rest of the house.
I have bought a few more items but have to go and pick them up from store. I'm trying to save money on delivery costs now by having things delivered to the relevant store to collect. If I have bought things that qualify for free delivery I have started having them delivered to my work now because I hate having to get up to the post office if I've missed a delivery & some of my neighbours can be a bit funny sometimes about taking in an delivery so I don't want to annoy them with all my christmas deliveries.0 -
ADVENTUREOFMEMORIES welcome to the thread.
NIC so sorry you've had a rubbish day, I don't really think there's any rhyme or reason to when grief hits or how it can be more difficult one year than others. Typical that you should have the driving confrontation on the very day your least ready to deal with it but be kind to yourself. Hope the Gingerbread latte did the trick. Is it you that does the decorated window or am I thinking of someone else?
I've seen some awful Christmas films but I watch them anyway, as long as they make me feel festive I can forgive the poor storylines. The ones I really don't like though are the ones where it's basically an ordinary film but it just happens to be Christmas, they're always a disappointment. I hate books like that too. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Sending you hugs Nic - have some time to yourself and try and relax. Sorry you had a rude driver who wouldn't move for you. Don't drive yet but it is one thing I have promised to treat myself to with money off my Nan's inheritance when it comes through - driving lessons!
Think Christmas will be hard a bit at times for us as first one without Nan so mum will struggle a bit I think. But we will do our best to make it full of happy memories of her. Sure mum will cry at the charms I have bought but at same time love them.£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120 -
Evening everyone, have had a good sort out of presents and Christmas food today so all in the right bags and I know where everything is. We go and get our tree on the 1st/2nd December usually, put it straight up then let the branches fall for a day or two then decorate
NIC sorry you have had a rough day, the stupid woman should have moved back if it was your right of way, glad you had a good chat with your mum, a hyacinth sounds lovely, I love the smell of them
SNORKYPANTS Christmas puddings are quite hardy some people eat the pud they made the year before at Christmas
TREENYBASH I hope the Christmas lights were lovely

Hi all,
Just order the echo dot for SIL and BIL as it's down to £34.99 pre black Friday. Also got a cheaper fire pit for BIL and SIL as we are up against it money wise. The car decided to pack up at the weekend and it's at least £500 to fix it. DS1 is also now out of work (long story and not his fault) but we will be subbing him once he's spent his last wages.
Still not sure what my three teens would like. They are not giving any hints which is frustrating. I'm off on 7/8 and 15 December so can see myself (and the rest of Kent) running around Bluewater like a loon!
Glad to hear you are all doing well with your lists.

Hello Folks both old and new.
As i loose so many posts and then can't be bothered to do them all over again I don't know what I have said or not,so forgive me if I repeat myself.
nic, hope the gingerbread latte hit the spot.I hope you feel brighter now xx
Peppa I think the decorated window person was from Stoke.Seem to remember something about Stoke in their name.Of course I could have dreamed that. I love what you said about Kev,hahaha,
Perfect secret Santa Mrs M.When I worked at school someone bought the head a joke pressie and it didn't go down well. SHE didn't go down well with us either and didn't stay long, thank goodness. You definitely need a sense of humour to work with children.Glad you are pleased with your laser lights.
Been to the orthodontist today with DD2. She needs a baby tooth out so her second teeth have room. Not a big job luckily. Whilst in town I bought one of those paper light up stars iykwim. I need an intervention.I have a loft FULL of decorations and don't need to buy more.
I have also been making decorations for a fundraiser for the Salvation Army. The cutest green pompoms with party hats and googly eyes.Christmas sprouts.I will put a pic on the pinterest board. Not of mine,I am not clever enough to do that.
I will start to get my decorations down from the loft at the beginning of December. It's a big job and takes a few days to decorate. My daughters like to be involved too.Still not cleaned the windows.
Foodwise I have the lions share, just need fresh stuff n cream etc nearer the time.I am a big fan of a list.We don't go mad with food as we go out Boxing day so Christmas day is just like a Sunday dinner really.
How is the slimming going ? I am doing ok. I was thinking I needed new clothes for Christmas, have bought one lovely lacy top and then found several I had forgotten about in the wardrobe. They will do.

I had been thinking of the windows too in the past few weeks and had a nose and it was Nicki with the window, one can be seen on post #3624 of the “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” thread.
Post #3624, goodness we really did chat in those days!!0 -
Well done GYD, must have been the Nic bit that stuck with me. We've definitely quietened down with the chatter over the years, real life must be getting in the way.
I'm thinking I might get some of those big white tissue balls from the party shop and hang them from the curtain rail in the front room. In the old house we had a small but floor to ceiling bay window and the tree (my splendid JL 7ft tree from last year;)) filled the space but here we have a half height window but it goes the full width of the room so there'll be quite a bit of window showing either side. I fancy outside decs this year but not sure I can really justify the expense. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
We always leave the windows bare as well but I think hubby last year was overly excited when I found fake snow in a can in my xmas box but it was from the year before and the pressure didn't work so think I will get him some this year to go mad with.......
Got a few more presents done yesterday. Won a competition for a personalised notebook so have had that done with her name, gotten her some fluffy socks and re-gifted a smellies set I was given last year so just need to get her a bottle of wine and she is done.
Also got a smellies set each for my son Ben and husband Owen. Ben has a lynx one for £3 and husbands was £4 from Wilkos. Also picked up Snowman and Snowdog kitchen roll for MIL
Found socks that don't have the elastic in for my grandad and will try and find him something else but not sure what exactly. Hes very old and frail.
Hoping to get a present for my husband today in the form of a flat cap as well as picking up grandad's socks. Then can get some wrapping started, which also reminds me I need money wallets for her kids money too.Time to find me again0 -
Yes it was Nicki who did the fab windows. Not seen her here in a while.
Thanks for the kind words, I feel much better today. It was just such a horrible feeling of sadness that had taken over me for the whole day. Last night I went to the range to cheer me up, and treated myself to 2 lovely handmade glass baubles. They have what looks like a candle that's gone out, but it is a led that changes colour. Only £1.99 each. Those and 2 little planters for my poinsettia. They look like little fat red santa sacks. I'd add pictures but I never get them right on here.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0
