I usually put my tree up the first weekend of December, however we had to postpone our holiday in October as we were all ill and it’s now 11th-15th December, and as I want a real tree this year we’ll have to wait until we get back. That’s if there’s any left after that!!
I have to admit that I have only seen the Aldi advert so far, at least I think it was Aldi - the one with Kevin the carrot?? Because we're not getting much sleep at night we're going to bed mega early, so anything we watch is on catch up and we're always forwarding the ads. I actually said to DH the other day that i'm missing out on all the Christmas ads! I might have a little nosey now at some of the links that's been put on here. I can't go without seeing what JL has come up with!
Peppa oh how funny you live there! What a lovely place, I love the garden centres there! Would love to pop in for tea next time.Well as you know I live in Flitwick and no-one has ever heard of it! Plus everyone ALWAYS pronounces it wrongly. :wall:
Yes I used to live near you freespirit, now I live near Peppa, who will I live near next??I must admit all the shops and amenities were a bit more convenient when I lived in Reading and Marlow, now there’s only really a big Tesco in my town, oh and plenty of hairdressers! We’ve got no excuse for having bad hair days round here Peppa!
Jakes-mum that’s a lovely advent calendar! I wanted to get a nice wooden one last year but couldn’t find one I liked. I ended up buying a fabric hanging hessian one from Next, but by the time I thought I’d rather have a wooden one I’d been struck by the dreaded severe morning sickness and couldn’t get out to return it. I haven’t actually used it yet, it’s going to be for my advent activities rather than treats.
alja another neighbour!I hope your leak gets sorted asap, DH found one under our kitchen sink as he was on his way to bed last night, big puddle of water on the floor!

Who's going to be the first on here to put their tree up? I'm thinking first week in December for me.
I usually give in on the 1st December but after Bruno being a pain last year (hes 17 years old) and knocking it over every 5 minutes I can only imagine it will be more fun with pup so Im leaving it till 12th night this year I think and the elf will bring the news and decorations with him......
Going to get around to watching a Christmas film today that I have had taped for weeks called Operation Christmas.....will give my review laterbefore I have my shift later on but I will do a little bit of cleaning first I think.
Tried getting in to see my doctor this morning but it was fully booked by 10 past 8 so will have to try again tomorrow.
Going to spend some time wrapping my Xmas Ornament swap stuff this morning if my pupster will allow it.
Thats the beginning of my festiveness starting :-)
Also stupid question - is a sugar cookie the same as a shortbread biscuit?Time to find me again0 -
Hi All,
I always jump into this thread each year far too late! This year has been crazy but looking forward to catching up on your yearly antics!:beer:Life is what you make it.0 -
Thank you to whoever encouraged me to think seriously about the lazer lights by saying they were good. I ordered one from Amazon and it's arrived this morning I tested it on the lounge wall and it looks fab, I went for the little red and green dots spots and swirly pattern effects ones but it looks great, can't wait to put it out.
Between dinner shift and afterschool club I plan on getting sewing machine out and making some tartan hearts for someone at work they gave me the fabric a couple of weeks ago and I must get them done for Friday when I see her again.
Plan to get my tree up the first weekend in Dec, Friday the 1st is decoration day at school so I'll rally be in the mood after that.SPC~12 ot 124

Its definitely feeling festive in South Wales with all the frost this morning and the nip in the air - loving it!
Well very little prep has been done here today. I did sit down yesterday though and write out my Christmas cards for one of the Christmas forums that I am on and I have stuff ready for an ornament swap ready to go so I will wrap them later and post it tomorrow I think along with my welsh Christmas card:D:D
Work in Argos is picking up with people buying Christmas presents. Loving it - although the hours that I am in are leaving very little time for me to actually sit and wrap or do much more else. I am off this Saturday which is when our Father Christmas arrives in town to his grotto so I think I might take the kids along to it and let them do the dogs Christmas shopping nice and early.
His theme this year is Elves and Unicorns :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: then the lights are switched on on the 1st December so might take them to that as well.
Aside from that the NEC Bike show is fast approaching - Im looking forward to it so I can finally see my husbands face when I buy him the jacket he has wanted for the last 8 months :j:j thats his main present done then and I just have a few more bits to pick him up.
So Im getting there.
Sammy I didn't realise you are from South Wales. Hi neighbour!
It certainly is getting cold here. I love it when it gets cold because it feels more christmassy when I'm indoors, feeling cosy in my living room. On the other hand I don't love it so much when I have to venture outdoors. I am loving being able to wear all my lovely boots again though, so I guess every cloud does have a silver lining
I've ordered a few more Christmas presents and come up with some ideas as well, that I will probably order this weekend. I'm trying to be careful not to order too much just yet because while the house is being decorated, everything is all over the place so I have no room to really hide anything. It will be all finished by the end of next week though so I am going to put my Christmas decs up then, wrap what presents I do have so that I can put them under the tree and make room for more orders. I can't wait!!0 -
Vulpix- ok will do x
Princesskitty glad the boys are feeling better but lack of sleep is not funny, I bet you are walking around with your eyes propped open.
Sammy- I've not watched any Christmas films yet and only seen the Aldi advert so far. Good Luck with the wrapping x
Free- your DD is on the right road now for Thumper, perseverance pays off- eventually x
I'm aiming to put the tree up on 1st December, (no tinsel as I'm not a fan). Have to clear DDs stuff from the landing though (her present stash) so I can get in the loft and get it all down.
I have finally wrapped the advent calendar presents- 73 in total as some of them are' experiences' rather than actual gifts ( eg Costa gift cards, salt cave experiences). I say it every year, I love doing them for family but I don't love wrapping them! They are done and put away til 1st December.lovin' this site!

Vulpix, I've been working on my big clean sloooooowly for weeks now, doing a little bit most days. I'm getting there but it doesn't have the satisfaction factor of getting it all done in one go.
I made my Christmas pudding at the weekend, I'm really early, it's not stir up Sunday until the 26th November, but I wanted to do it when we had my step son so we could all stir and make a wish. But I had got muddled with the dates and we actually have him on the 26th...ooops! It should keep fine though, with all the alcohol in it....fingers crossed anyway! It'd be a shame for anyone to die of food poisoning the first year we host.
I have a shopping trip planned this weekend with my Mum and will hopefully get her's and my Dad's present then, or at least some ideas.0 -
Hi all
Sorry to hear about all the mishaps and illnesses going on at the moment - not what you need at this time of year! Sending positive thoughts to all that need it.
We went to the Christmas evening at Dobbies - wasn't quite as festive as it's apparently been in previous years. I got some free samples of rum from a tasting booth, and a glass of mulled berry cordial which was not great. OH ended up fairly merry after having a couple of beers with dinner, and bought up half of Cotton Traders, then after a 10 minute look at the Christmas stuff declared it all "meh" and didn't want to get anything. So I got a bit stroppy and we ended up with 30 quids worth of bits - some sticks with lights on them for the dining room, a couple of light up letter decs in our initials, some scented pine cones and some outdoor lights. My parents bought some really nice Christmas crackers for the table for us which was nice of them.
Tonight they're switching on the Christmas lights in town, so I've demanded that we go watch - I will get him excited about Christmas if it kills me! I'm off to London for work for a couple of days, and his parents are coming over when we get back - so need to do some cleaning before we go - and hopefully we can keep on top of it for the next couple of weeks and get our decs up the first weekend in Dec.
Diet is a complete mess at the moment - I've given up and ordered some milkshakes from Celebrity Slim. I lost a stone and half on them before my best mate's wedding in 2015 so I'll see how it goes. I'm really struggling at the moment, so hopefully using meal replacements will help and give me a bit more time and energy to get some exercise. Well done to the losers on the thread!0 -
Yay, we've reached 100 pages! It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

Yay, we've reached 100 pages!
We're chatterboxes, aren't we?
Just very busy here at the moment with real life...got a day off tomorrow so might get some Christmas bits.
We don't put up the Christmas tree :xmastree: until after my birthday - still doesn't stop Christmas taking over my birthday as the house is overrun with Christmas cards by then!A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
