We are very proud of her she has come on so much since leaving school .

I'm going to start very early with crafting for Christmas, and general crafting this time. With having the baby, time got away from me at the end of last year and I ended up with almost nothing done. I've made a few sets of soaps and lip balms but I'm not out of soapbase and beeswax, so got to wait for more to arrive. I had a massive buying spree. On beads, findings and necklace chains and have plans for most of that. Also, I have a huge yarn stash which I will not add to until I've used a good amount of it, so plan to maybe make some bits to go with presents this year. Even if it's just scarf and hats or a throw or something like that.
I'd like to do some charity crafting actually. Got to look into it and see which charities want things making. A friend made a load of scarves and hung them from a tree for anyone who needed them..homeless or just cold and needing one. She made the local news but nobody knew who it was as she did it anonymously. Very sweeet. I've done cat blankets for shelters before, so will do sole more of those, but looking for a few other bits too. Maybe preemie hats and blankets for early babies. If anyone knows of anything please let me know.

Oooooooo Free that tree is lovely.I did post a pic of a cushion I had sewn but it was early as I have to rely on DD1 or her BF to visit to do it for me.

I think I remember 0426... popping on and saying birds was a good idea for this months theme.Someone else suggested it as it is the RSPB 's bird survey? I think.I struggle to think of ideas.Everyone makes such lovely things and I make cushions:rotfl:

I'm glad you took the trouble to listen to the story, after all the fuss I made about it! I sound so poorly and that was after being dosed up with goodness knows what.

I have never done the hamper thing but I buy stuff and keep it in a box in the spare room or when my son was a ravenous teenager in my Mum's spare room.I found a few things the other day I had hidden at the back of a cupboard.Nice surprise and all gone now.

I havent been on holiday in the Uk since I was a child.I would love to again, there are so many places I would like to see here.I have bought the Sun today for the holiday voucher.I would like a few days at the seaside in a caravan like we used to enjoy.

When I was about 12 I met a girl on holiday from London. We were penpals for years.I was envious as her youthclub were forever going on trips to be the audience on TOTPs. I think this thread is like penpals, but quicker.

Chrissy, you are so organised with your gifts.Respect.

I found the Santa stop here sign in the garden today, oops.

    Vx

You don't need to buy the Sun paper for the codes - they are posted on this thread:

If you've not been on holiday with the Sun before, I have a spare priority bookers code you can have, as I won't be using it myself. Let me know and I'll pm it to you.

Welcome to the thread MUMOF3, now you've delurked you have to stay :D

MURIE I wasn't sure if we've sorted the theme for this month either, I think it's because 0462 hasn't been on much this month to confirm. I must admit I haven't done anything towards it yet, I just completely forgot. Must get my thinking cap on 🤔

I haven't been to the shops at all or even online so no sale Bargains for me ☹️. Had a lovely day with DD2 and DGS and DD2 suggested that next year we do a type of secret Santa for the adults and all do a list of things that we'd like (within a price limit) and then draw the names out so we all buy one thing and all get something we'd really like but can't justify buying ourselves. I'm thinking it might be a good idea, mainly because DD1 has a degree in buying the most random pressies that tend to find their way to the charity shop. If we did SS with a £30 limit we'd all save about £60 as opposed to the £10 per person limit (so very MSE) plus we'd be buying people something they want and getting something we want. Does anyone do it this way and if they do does it work?

I have a big family - 2 sisters and 3 brothers, all with husbands/wives and kids. We do a secret santa amongst the adults. I am the admin person, and use Elfster to do the name draw. You are able to set up limitations, so for example I put in that my eldest brother can't be assigned his wife, and the system itself doesn't assign people you have had previously, so the person I got Christmas 2016 I won't get again until I've had every person on the list, other than those who are restricted (e.g. eldest brother will never get assigned his wife).

Last year we set the budget as £10 and stipulated that it could only be spent on something consumable. This worked rather well.

In previous years we have had a budget of £50 and there were no restrictions on the type of gift.

Elfster does have a wish list function, so each person can add items to their wish list, which makes it easier for the person buying for them.

  • Morning all, been virtually MIA since I got back, so busy at work, not had time to think. Feeling a tad uncomfortable today as I had the biopsy yesterday, was really bizarre, no feeling but being aware of the sensation! All I could think of while I was lying there was converting the vacuum process to Henry hoover!!!!!!!! See the surgeon in 2 weeks for the results, I hope that will be it, losing 1/2 day working time is not something I can afford at the moment (no financial loss) and I have had 3 of them in my last 9 working days. I know I am able to make up my workload at the end of the day, which is fine, but it keeps getting pushed back as we are so busy on the daily workload, but hey ho, will get there.

Free, your tree is amazing, something so simple yet so effective.

Chrissy, your DD is so thoughtful at taking the photo & gaining in confidence so much, no wonder you are so proud.

Peppa, glad things are getting there.

New & PK, hope bumps are cooking nicely for you.

    Newbies, welcome.

I know I have forgotten people, but hope all fine & dandy.

Afternoon everyone, i have just ordered some aftershave for DS OH for his birthday the end of the month and saved myself £10 by looking around on tinternet so i am chuffed with that. Oh blimey you ladies who are doing Bullet Journals i have spent days getting it all set up for this year and trying to be neat and tidy (failing miserably) then yesterday i only went and dropped a whole mug of hot chocolate complete with squirty cream and melted marshmallows over the bullet journal, my new table and chairs, it even reached the radiator, i could have cried, so no matter how neat i am this year it looks scruffy already.......:rotfl:

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY aww honey i hope the biopsy comes back negative, im sure your work will understand :)

MANDCO it didnt actually take that long, to do it was the fact i ran out of ribbon and had to go and buy more, why it took so long, i couldnt believe how much ribbon was needed

CRAZYCATLADY aww what a lovely thing for your friend to do, it would be lovely if the homeless did get one

CHRISSY i love that DD wants to take a photo of her grandad, what a lovely gesture

JUNIORJ my DD1 has an amazon fire stick and she loves it

What a lovely tree, Free, Chrissy, how thoughtful of your lovely DD, and JJ so happy you are back posting.
I know there were others l wanted to comment, but somehow my retention of info has underdriven. So, just hope everyone is ok, and please take a hug and a virtual !clair. (courtesy of fave cous). Free, only you could have spread a cup of luxury as far as you did. I am sure it wont look scruffy at all. I don't keep a bullet journal, but l have a garden notebook and a cookery one, which l write up quite frequently, and enjoy the reflection necessary when l do.
I have gone a bit mad after complaining about the sales, a new duvet, a new Christmas tree, some jumpers and a lovely lacey top, smelly sets from sanctu@ry and M&spensive, a nighty, slipper sox a mug, and socks.
(set of sliding doors and a conveyor belt, fondue set, cuddly toy, lol) but l forgot to get milk!!
Havent done anything crafty on the birds theme, inspiration block!

    Evening,
Sorry not been about for a few days. Was back to work and school on Monday and it's back to the usual madness of dance and guitar lessons.
Work is stressful and I'm just not sleeping great. I wake up every morning and feel rubbish.

I have spent some time trying to bullet journal. I'm enjoying finding a spare half an hour here and there to set it up. I don't really do any crafts any more, so I'm enjoying adding small doodles and using this as my new craft, while being useful for keeping my busy life on track.

I also got nothing in the sales. Not even a cracker. I seen some in Tesco reduced to £1 but they had the cheapest toys in them and thought look out for the better quality ones, then didnt see any. Same with cards and paper.

Ive been keeping my fitness up with my fitness trackers help. And managing to do between 10,000 and 12,000 steps a day. This is on the days I'm working and without extra excercise at the moment. Once I find time to do a class I hope to feel a difference.
