Free - That tree is lovely! :T
Volunteering process is rumbling on. Going through the DBS check at the moment. Hope to have induction when that's finished.
Went into town (on an actual bus ) by myself to have lunch with a friend. Did waaaaay too much walking. I'm nearly at 10000 steps today instead of my usual 5000 (according to my Fitbit). Already feeling bad for it.I did get a NASA sweatshirt (I am a nerd) for £5 in Primarni though. And the chinese buffet was good, as was seeing my friend. So I think it was worth it.
Hope everyone else is as well as can be. xx“In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”

Happy Friday All!
Thanks for the comments on the hamper issue - maybe I will be better making my own then!
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the snow LOL! Ours is a pathetic dusting of icing sugar! I'm glad to be indoors though, have had a cold since the beginning of December and just can't shift it!
Have a great weekend xxx0 -
Good Morning,It is very quiet on here at the moment.
We had snow which was a bit disruptive yesterday .DD2 got a day off school which she was very happy about.
We went to the theatre last night to see a show with Cannon and Ball.We were also invited back stage to meet them. What nice people and a very ,very good show.I was never a fan years ago but really enjoyed it last night.innocent fun,no swearing, great stuff. We went as Mr V used to work the clubs and knows a lot of the old variety style acts and singers.
I have sanded the drawers for DD1,s birthday and given them 2 undercoats.Today I will give them a coat of the sage greeny colour. I opened it yesterday and it looks nothing like the colour on the tin, hope it dries better.
Gotta go,getting hassled to go food shopping.

Sorry to hear work is still stressing you NIC, hope you can find a way to get some decent sleep.
Yay, well done CLUMSY, must admit I haven't been on a bus for years. Last time I went I do remember wishing the driver would slow down and take the corners and roundabouts more slowly lol.
CAZ we had a real flurry if snow, very thick and fast falling with lovely big flakes. It only lasted about two hours though then the sun came out and it all went away.
VULPIX you little name dropper lol. Must say I've never been a Cannon and Ball fan either but it isn't them, I'm just not very keen on those sort of acts. Having said that I do think sometimes seeing people live you get a completely different view of them. Glad you had a good time.
It's so quiet on here at the moment but I'm thinking maybe everyone is a bit like me, wanting to read but not much to sayWell having said that, I had some good news yesterday. I had a call from the hospital to say the results of the CT scan I had on 30th December are good and show no recurrence of cancer at the original site and no sign of spread so the two spots I was worried about on liver and lungs are not anything to cause concern. I was really pleased. Have a 'procedure' this afternoon (yes Saturday) and X-ray Monday to check how the surgery from last year has healed and babysitting DGSs tonight which includes putting them to bed so should be a few cuddles coming my way. ❤
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Great news from the hospital Peppapig!A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Wonderful news Peppa! Hopefully, it will continue that way for you.
Went to see Cinderella at the Palladium last night. It was excellent! Paul O'Grady has an amazing pair of legs:D Julian Clary was wearing the most outlandish costumes, Nigel Havers won everyone's sympathy and as it is virtually the end of the run, the whole cast were so comfortable working with each other that the adlibbing was just a natural part of the script. Got soaked though! You know they generally sing "if I were not in pantomime, a ..... I would be" One of them wanted to be a window cleaner & he had a bucket of water. As we were sitting in row 7, we were right in the soaking line! Thoroughly enjoyed it. We were very lucky, only paid £37 for the tickets as one of the group got them through school, otherwise they were £115:eek:. Because of the train strike, we all had to find our way whatever way possible. By pure fluke, we all arrived about the same time & met in the same place to eat, none of which was planned, which was fantastic as it meant there was no stressing about where everyone was, and we were completely chilled going into the theatre.A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Hello. May I join in?
I visit a few Christmas planning sites, but you can't have enough Christmas IMNSHO. They've all got great people on them too. This thread sounds equally friendly - and resilient as well. As others have said, there must be something about people who love Christmas! :snow_grin
This last Christmas went a bit pear-shaped. Luckily I'd bought everything, ordered the food for delivery on the 22nd, got wrapping paper and cards in Jan 2016 etc. So I just had to wrap presents and write cards and declutter. Then I fell and broke my shoulder...
So the house was a bombsite because I'd dragged everything out of the cupboards to declutter. It ended up with me stuffing presents into Christmas bags, boxes and stockings, emailing to explain why I wasn't doing cards this year and The Day was extremely quiet!
I've said on another thread that it turned out accidentally (so to speak!) to be very MSE. I have loads of cards and wrapping paper for next year so haven't missed out in the sales. And I haven't needed a huge shop because we've been eating down Christmas. PLUS I didn't put any weight on! :T
Didn't take long to put the tree and decorations away either, as it was all very simple. (We put ours up the weekend closest to Christmas Eve and take them down after Twelfth Night).
I'm looking forward to joining in, but have to warn you that I'm not very crafty. So I may not join in every challenge - including this one, because my arm's still in a sling. And you're not to laugh at my efforts if I do!! :rotfl:A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
CHALLENGES

1 CONTAINER (box/bag/folder etc) per day; 50/365

Welcome basketcase! What a horrible injury to get, can imagine that's very painful and must have been so frustrating at this time of year.
That's wonderful Peppa, so pleased the year is starting with such good news for you :j
Nic, I tried something previously when work was stressing me (Sunday nights were the worst!) and it might tie in with your bullet journal - I wrote down three things I was grateful for. It was often really difficult, so found I was writing little things but the process helped me to calm down and I seemed to find I slept much better afterwards. It didn't change the stress of work but I found I wasn't as anxious the night before.
Panto sounds like great fun Gettingtherequickly, it's probably the one festive tradition I don't take part in. Keep meaning to try it but we don't have kids and so always assume it's a bit much for two adults, especially as we usually like quite dry humour! Going to have to give it a go though as everyone I know loves them!
Not Christmas related but I did pick up a shoe bargain at New L**k online. Hadn't realised there is a little branch near me so signed up to their newsletter, got 10% off my first order and got two pairs of heels for £15 each, free delivery to store. I have quite the shoe collection (heels in every colour/pattern!) but I tend to buy my bright and bold ones cheaply as I change them a lot, and my tan/black/nude 'classics' I spend a bit more on as they get a lot more wear over the course of a year. These are hot pink and sky blue, so starting to think of spring already. I cleared my wardrobe last weekend and I charity shopped all those 'one day' and 'maybe if' tops/dresses! It's not exactly a 'capsule' wardrobe but I have really enjoyed it being a bit more streamlined, made getting ready for work so much easier to know I was just picking from items I like/feel good in. Think I probably need to find a black cardigan as my old faithful is on it's last threads. Dreading it, because I like wearing them open over dresses and for all they're common, finding one in a style and material that suits me is impossible.
Got a very dear colleague retiring this year, so starting to think about that. Think I'm going to go for a garden trug with some gardening/cooking things as she's hoping for an allotment, and I've just managed to pick up a fashion scarf for her online, that I've had personalised with a phrase stitched in the corner. Very much her accessory of choice - I tend to be more about jewellery but she loves a scarf.
Also picked up a set of toddler's tops in the sales which will go towards a birthday present in the spring. I must have looked a fool in the shop, you know when you're trying to figure out the age a child will be in a particular season according to what clothes you're looking at?! I kept having to count on my fingers. You would never thinking they put me in charge of things at work.
It's only a small start to a few upcoming occasions, but it always feels good to even have some little things put away/ticked off. My husband has been receiving 'secret' items in the mail, so he's clearly started my birthday shopping very early...or maybe he has some other habit I should worry about!
I loosely started healthier lifestyle efforts this week! Lorraine Kelly's new DVD was stuck on, it's a bit like dance, which I find the most fun, but it's going to take me a while to learn the routines and I might then just do them to my own choice of music. I have managed my early nights and early starts every day, 5am with an hour or so for exercise/breakfast/shower and early start at work before everyone gets in. Twice I managed a relatively early finish, but on two nights I was there past 8pm, which I promised myself would stop. So bit of a fail there. On the plus side the better sleep and structure to my day meant I didn't snack as much. I'm not hugely concerned about losing weight, and I don't eat meat, so get plenty of veg, but I do worry about how much sugar/fat sneaks in to my diet in other ways and I definitely 'crave' food, which doesn't feel particularly healthy! It's usually because I've not planned my meals/snacks wisely, so that's what I'm trying to focus on - and not then make myself sick of a 'healthier' alternative, which is my other trick. (can't look a rice cake in the face right now) I also tend to slip, then stumble, then fall...like last night was one glass of wine, then another...then the box of Milk Tray got opened!0
