  • Thanks for the support on the weightloss. :o

The stars are brightly shining - from my favourite Carol, could be the name for next year. Twinkly stars in the night, childrens faces shining with excitement and us nuts as the stars of the thread :D

Evening all hope you are all ok. No idea why but feels really late and it's only just gone six haha - think I am too used to not getting home on a Friday until 9pm.

Might go to the local garden centre after work tomorrow to browse their Christmas section it's usually very good and we meant some really nice quality white tinsel. Has anyone seen any that hasn't got any plastic pink flecks in

    Hi everyone!
I just thought I would let you know what I decided to do with my mums voucher. I decided to make her a ‘night at the theatre’ box so I bought a gift box, filled it with metallic shredded stuff, then put two mini cans of Coke (she’s teetotal or I would have put wine- she struggles to drink a full size can of Coke so I thought the mini ones were perfect) a box of Maltesers and a bag of her favourite cashew nuts, then added the voucher on top and fastened the box with some gold ribbon. It looks fab and I thought it was just something different. Problem is I’m going to struggle to top it next year :D

    Evening Christmasteer's :D

Well I finally managed to go into town today on a market day and the man with those colour in pictures that are made of felt (does anyone know what i'm talking about?) was there, so I was like 'YES! get two of them for DD' as they were on the list (£1 each :D ) and only went and left them on the ruddy kitchen table! So she walks in and goes 'oh are they for me?' gave her the top one and hid the other with the hope she didnt see what pic it was so I can blag it christmas day.

Ooo new thread title, my favourite christmas song is actually 'A spaceman came travelling' but i'm not sure that's the best title for a christmas thread :rotfl: hmmm, Santa Claus is coming to town? Do they know its christmas?

Elf names too . . thinking . . . Twinkle, Kringle, Cookie, Peppermint, Tinsel?

I seem to have reached a stalemate over christmas shopping, I just have the parents security camera and DD's fitbit to buy but I just can't seem to get my backside in gear to search and order them  on the upside, the cardigan just needs sewing together and edging :j :j I shall be glad to see the back of it as I have had to frog parts of it more times than I care to admit to due to my own stupidity and part of the pattern being written backwards

I did get sme more chocolates though :o Mr T finally put their tins on 2 for £7 so I was overcome by the need to buy some :o (only 2, despite DH trying to convince me we needed 4!)

New thread name - how about 'Have a holly jolly Christmas' (love the Bubl! version!) or 'Dashing through the snow'. Sorry if we've already had something similar in the past.

I'm looking at getting my sister a cheap VR headset. The reviews can be terribly mixed though. That being said, I'm fairly sure it's just a novelty she'll try a few times and get bored of anyway! :rotfl:

Mum's advent calendar is nearing completion. Just need two more advent presents, wrapping paper and a gift bag (and to wrap them all). Ordered some gold circle labels to write the numbers on today. Should all be done by December. Which is obviously ideal for an advent calendar. ;)

Went to the Range today. Saw a nearly life size Father Christmas. It was creepy!! Didn't buy anything other than a Thornton's chocolate Santa for myself (£1.99). Well, you've got to treat yourself. :rotfl:

Hope everyone is well. Can't believe we're in November already! :T

    Hi all,
I popped to m and s earlier and they have the stag shortbread tins, red biscuit tins and other goodies on half price again. Hope that helps someone. Unfortunately i don't have anyone to buy that sort of thing for, so daren't buy any as they wouldn't last long here.
Need to get the boots order gifts in the loft this week along with the waffle making kit I got for DS2 in Costco last week. It's currently under my bed and I keep stubbing my toe on the cast iron pan! Goodness knows how I'm going to wrap it!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes everyone, I've had a lovely day, fab pressies and flowers and been thoroughly spoilt starting with breakfast in bed. DH took me out for lunch and then we went to B&M and Home Bargains (yay) and I managed to finish off several people's Christmas pressies. Plus when we got home Mum's birthday necklace had arrived and so did littlest DGS's Christmas pressie so a very successful day! Think I'll do some more wrapping tonight, a perfect end to a perfect day :D

I'm glad you had a lovely day! It sounds wonderful :)

Free- wow that's an achievement! Have a great weekend x
GTQ- I don't mind co-ordinating the card swap again if people pm me their addresses.

I'm afraid I was very naughty and never sent my Xmas card last year as I disappeared. I don't want to risk the same happening again (DH and his constant emergency hospital admissions are very disruptive!) so I'll sit this one out.
Wow this thread is motoring now!! Still at a standstill with presents, waiting for list from DDIL, but still have several to wrap.
Peppa, glad you had a lovely day for your birthday. I bet Kevin was breathless with excitement at meeting you, lucky man.
Feisty it is lovely to see you posting again. Littlies say the loveliest things and their cuddles.... well, need l say more?
DGS birthday today, 15, will see him later, after school to do his cards and presents. The tradition in the family is that the birthdayer stands on a chair holding their candle lit cake, while we sing happy birthday, but if he does that he will knock himself out on the ceiling!
Had loads of trick or treaters at Halloween, all dressed up, and happy.
Free well done you , ready for Christmas 7 weeks before the event.
Sunshine today, so l am going to get some tidying up outside done. xx

She melts my heart - she has the sweetest, squeaky voice and reminds me of Cindy Lou Who - she also has the temper of the Grinch, so never a dull moment :rotfl:
Did DGS keep up with tradition? Perhaps you could buy him one of those fold up steps for birthday antics? :)
Squatters have been officially evicted! I am so happy.

Waiting for sofa bed to be delivered, and had an email from Studio to say that my delivery will be today, really pleased about that as they would only deliver to home, so having today off has worked out well. Hopefully they will be both here sooner rather than later as I would like to have a pedicure, want to clean the windows (had insides done by 9, but afraid to do outside in case I don't hear the doorbell), go to Costco as my hairdresser forgot to tell me she couldn't come last night so is coming on Tuesday, which was the day I planned to go to Costco & have to weigh in. Been struggling, but am determined to lose another 1/2 stone before Christmas, which is achievable.

Off to sort my bedroom now, have a warm day :D

You are doing so well! A definite inspiration :j
Hello, it's me yet again saying I can't keep up! :p We've not had a great few weeks in our house as I had an infection, Wiggle got bronchitis, DH's back went and was laid up in bed, my knee went for some reason and Squeak is just getting over a cold! We've had barely any sleep in the last week due to his cold so we're a bit behind on everything.

I haven't had chance to catch up on the thread but will try to have a quick look back now. I'm still trooping on with my shopping and did a bit more wrapping this afternoon whilst Squeak was having a nap.

    Hope everyone is ok. xx

Oh no! You really have all been through the wringer :( I hope you're all soon on the mend! I also think of you often as my little My has had her nickname morph in to Wiggle and obviously you have the original Wiggle! x
    Morning all
Wow our thread is really moving now.
Murie - Can I join as well please - I will PM you my name and address for the card swap - sending some out anyway so one more wont break the bank :D
Catty - the crafts sound lovely. Can we see pictures when your done please?
PrincessKitty - sorry to hear you have been poorly and hope Squeak and Wiggle are feeling much better too.....and OH obviously!
Vintage - they had some mens fluffy socks and slipper socks in B&M when I looked yesterday because I half considered some for my OH but my MIL has already brought him some.Think they were only a few pound and festive themed.
Stokie - where do you work? My work is the same - I get more overtime now - Im snowed under with overtime this week with an offer they have on and all hands on deck. Fingers crossed it will stay consistent now though until Xmas :T:T:T:T pays the bills and Xmas presents :D:D

Well Xmas had well and truly hit south wales.......our local shopping centre puts up these big swags and 12 days of Christmas banners and they were out in full glory yesterday - I will try and get a picture for you all today but it feels very festive now! Although no sign of Santas Grotto coming along yet.

My Xmas theme for yesterday was trying to think of 25 things to do with Holly that dont break the bank, that we can do with the elf that comes and some that Ben might actually take part in now hes a stroppy teenager - also that doesnt involve much travel since I dont drive .... think I have some good ones and I have found a few nice bits.
Found stickers that are little doors and theres two to a pack so going to put one in my house and see if MIL will put one in hers after all its where the kids are looked after so then the elf has a gateway between houses for extra mischief - my MIL is really good and plays along.
Also found mummy elf, naughty elf, little elf and daddy elf on mugs yesterday and they all match so brought those for our hot chocolate station idea. Not to mention I found a robin mug for my mother in law so when elfy visits there he can give her a nice present from santa too.

Just need to name the elf now and that my lovely friends is where I need some help.......She thinks in work I see Bernard the head elf since I work with a lot of toys - we help santa store them all ;););););) so it cant be Bernard and we have had Merry and Jingle already :D:D I think the elf this year is going to be a good elf though......not so naughty

Right off to do some housework before I start work at 10am :-( Its going to be manic today with the 3 for 2 starting.....

Can I just say that I really loved reading your post about the planned Elf antics - you clearly go above and beyond to make it magical, and it is something to aspire to! No help on the name front I'm afraid, but could you use one of those elf name generators using the first letters of your children't names? You know the ones you usually see on facebook in December?

    That sounds lovely!

No more Christmas preperation in the Feisty house (although I did look in the FridayFiver Etsy promotion today for possible gifts!). I', going to update my gift list and gift pot and perhaps browse for some more items during the apprentice!

I have two questions for you Christmas nuts! Can anyone recommend a species of Christmas tree that will last a while and not drop it's needles before the big day? It will be the first year we buy a real one and I want to make sure we buy a good one. I did consider buying a potted tree that we could perhaps use year on year, but I have no idea if you can get dwarf potted trees that stay small enough :rotfl:
And my second question is can you recommend a quality hot chocolate brand? I am fed up of the hot chocolate I buy (cadbury, galaxy etc) just tasting of sweet milk. I want one where you can really taste the chocolate, but can be made with powder. If anyone knows, you guys will!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday!

  • Thanks jakes-mum for confirming that the 2 for £7 chocolate tubs are in store @ Mr T - spotted them online and they are on the Christmas shopping list so will make a special trip to get some this weekend. :)

  • Just popping in to say I'm still here and thanks for the messages. Still on a downer, another week has passed and paperwork for the new home nowhere in sight. So at the moment cannot join the card list as I have no clue where I will be living. Instead of present buying I'm winter clothes buying as everything is packed away. Looks like this will be the second year running I miss Christmas.
I am collecting bits for DS advent calendar and got him the boots offer a couple of weeks ago. Nothing else though, I shall see what's what in a couple of weeks. Oh and I did buy today's special value on qvc as a keepsake for both my neighbours for when I do leave, but that was because I had a twenty pound voucher code.
I think this weekend will be Christmas movies and chocolate, see if I can get my sparkle back.
