    Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Ha ha MRSINVISIBLE he didn't look particularly excited but I expect he was hiding it well :rotfl: Hope DS enjoys his birthday and manages to stay conscious.

Oh yes FREE, I only mix with the best, which is why I'm on here of course :D Well done on finishing your pressies, I'm not too far off. My plan is to have them all bought by the end of November and wrapped by the end of the first week in December so they can all go under the tree.

Wow NIC, that makes it all seem even nearer, 25 days til your tree day.

Bore da OAKDENE. When we were on holiday in North Wales a few years ago I practiced a few Welsh phrases but we didn't hear anyone speaking Welsh the whole time we were there, I was really disappointed (not with North Wales though, I loved that).

GTQ yay to the final eviction! Sounds like you've got a busy day - good luck with the weigh in.

MURIE I'll join in with the Christmas card exchange if you're doing it again.

My mum doesn't bother with decorations any more so this year we're staging an intervention. My sis will take her off somewhere and DD1 and I will go in and do her a Christmas tree and some decorations. I bought some tinsel and lametta yesterday so I've made a start. I thought I'd get a pack of the baubles from Primark as you get a lot for not very much then just need to find a cheap but decent looking tree. We only need a small one as it will have to stand on a table so if anyone sees anything suitable I'd appreciate a heads up. We won't do it til two weeks before Christmas or she'll be moaning about it by the time the big day arrives :D
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

    What's the card exchange lovelies?

Feel like I have hit a bit of a brick wall with Christmas shopping. Have made a list of who I still need to buy for and budget for each but just need the funds now. Will have to have a reshuffle I think with pots :D Although I do have £100 of supermarket stamps so that's a couple of weeks grace on food shopping in December

Like to have all shopping done before end of November (present wise) as once December hits I tend to pick up the overtime more and more and get less days free to organise myself.

Hope everyone is ok today. I am on a right funny three hour shift today haha but hoping other half fancies a quick trip to the shopping centre when I finish so I can at least get the nephews present now his mum has advised what I should get (and so I can go and see what Christmas bits are in Primark)

  • Hello all!

Ive been rather busy of late! Have managed to continue the Christmas present shopping and FOR CHILDREN i actually THINK i might be done! Still need to get parents but they are less stressful to me! Going to get everything wrapped and labelled soon which leads me to my questions...

    Two questions:

    1) When is the next wrapping party? I think i might have just missed one? Have i? Would like to sit with a cuppa and the laptop open and wrap and type to christmas fiends aswell!

    2) When is everyone putting their decorations up? I am away first weekend in December so I think i might put mine up last couple of days of November?! ALSO i still dont know exactly what I am missing (first proper home with two trees!) so feel i need to get everything out and up to see then I will have December to buy anything!

    xx

  • Hello, it's me yet again saying I can't keep up! :p We've not had a great few weeks in our house as I had an infection, Wiggle got bronchitis, DH's back went and was laid up in bed, my knee went for some reason and Squeak is just getting over a cold! We've had barely any sleep in the last week due to his cold so we're a bit behind on everything.

I haven't had chance to catch up on the thread but will try to have a quick look back now. I'm still trooping on with my shopping and did a bit more wrapping this afternoon whilst Squeak was having a nap.

    Hope everyone is ok. xx
  • So, no actual presents yet but I have found an old book and started folding the pages to hopefully make some book art.... And I've made a good start on the decorations: 7 icicles made from a plastic bottle (really much nicer than I expected and a lot better than they sound!!) and lots of old toilet rolls cut up and put into snowflake shapes ready to glue together this weekend... so progress has been made without spending any money yet! Oh and I've made a good start at designing my xmas cards, so hopefully will have those done by the end of this weekend too.
  • Happy belated birthday Peppa! _party_

Good to see you back Feisty! I follow you on Pinterest and I get updates about what you’re pinning and I always wonder how you are!

I’d love to join the Christmas card swap as I enjoyed it last year. Although poor old freespirit only got hers just in time I think as I was so poorly and couldn’t get out of the house! :p

Stokie- we swapped Christmas cards last year with one member of this thread. That way everyone that wanted to take part received a card but didn't have the expense of sending x number of cards through the post. If you would like to take part send me your postal address via pm and I will match it against another member on a 'names out of the hat' basis.

PrincessKitty- oh dear you sound as if you have all been in the wars one way or another x At least you are managing to keep up with your Christmas preps and hopefully the boys are on the road to recovery now.
Catty- those decorations sound great. I have always wanted to try my hand at book folding but I don't think I have the patience.
lazysheep- thanks for the info! I feel a festive drinks sampling outing coming on!
Veronica Mars- I will be putting our decorations up on 1st December (if I can hold off that long!). as far as decorations go- I don't think you can ever have too many twinkly fairy lights!!

peppa- haven't looked but Argos have 3 for 2 on trees and decorations etc. Or why not get her a small real tree (Tesco usually do them for about £10), and you could re pot it afterwards in your own garden! As long as you look after it you will have a tree to decorate outside this time next year and for years to come. ( Im assuming that your mm wouldn't be too interested in having it in her garden if she has one).

GTQ- woohoo that they are all gone! You sound as if you have a very productive day planned. You have done so well in your weight loss, Im sure you can do the extra half sone x

Mrs I- aww poor lad, bet he would feel as if he were in Gullivers Travels if he's made to stand on the birthday chair. Happy Birthday to him x.

Do you still want me to post up the new thread for next year?

If so, any suggestions for a thread title would be much appreciated....

  • This thread is rolling away! Only decorations I have at the moment is 6 baubles so I think decorating will have to wait until 1 December at the earliest (if DH will let me get away with doing them that early).

Managed to make a start on DH and my brother today. Popped in to TK Maxx and got a box of jellybeans for my brother to go in his sweets bag.

Got some lovely soft slipper socks for DH. I've bought him fluffy bed socks for several Christmases now (he doesn't really celebrate so I put together a treat box for him with lots of little things). I normally get them from Fat Face, they're £8 for one pair, but they're really nice so I normally buy them. Went in the other day and they now only sell packs of 2 pairs for £16  That's way too much, I can't understand why they're not doing single pairs. Anyway while I was in TK Maxx I popped up to the men's section and found a lovely thick pair of slipper socks in dark red for £8, so I bought those. Not quite the same as fluffy bedsocks, but they'll keep his feet warm and that's the main thing.

Also started getting more phonecalls and text messages from people wanting to drop off Christmas shoeboxes, so hopefully I'll have some more this weekend!
