Bloomin eck Sammy, hope things have calmed down at chez Sammy now.I was reading that with Benny Hill music playing in my head.
I have had a hectic weekend though not on Sammy's scale.DD1 and I did another carboot sale.Got rid of LOADS and made about £100 quid between us.Not exactly sure as its always coffees here, random purchases from other sellers there. I have however spent it all but about £2. I bought a takeaway curry for the whole family last night and this morning whilst on another errand bought myself a yankee candle.I bought a grey sparkly bolero from the carboot which will have an airing at Christmas.
I got the 2 for £7 sweets offer from Tesco, thanks for the mention.
Weighed myself this morning and have lost 2lbs.If I could do that every week till Christmas, that would be amazing.
How has everyone else done?
My house is a complete tip because of the hectic weekend.I am hoping for a quieter week to get some sort of routine back.
DS has gone down south for gainful employment,to return Friday.Hooray,it was a drain having to try and boost his confidence with his job search.Fingers crossed it goes ok.
The thread is moving so fast now.I lost a post the other day so sorry if I have failed to comment on things I usually would.
Looking forward to wrapping on Wednesday.

Oh GTQ Henning Wehn is one of my guilty pleasures (along with David Mitchell) which my family find disturbingly amusing.
So another week another wait on solicitors. I promise no more moaning and will only post the positive moving points from now on.
On a plus side I had a PPI letter with a cheque for almost three thousand pound in it. So bank tomorrow with that and whilst I dream of what extras that would buy in reality it will pay off my overdraft and put some pennies in my savings account.
Agree with others, very chilly now. Not succumb to putting the heating on yet.0 -

Evening Christmas fanatics
DH gave me a bit of a shock! Only went and said 'you know how you always say you want to go to a proper christmas market and have never actually been to one . . how do you fancy going to Berlin or somewhere for a few days at the beginning of december?' I'm a bit shell shocked as my DH is not one for romantic gestures (or listening for that matter :rotfl: ) Only issue is whether my parents could have the munchkins while we are gone as they both workOther option is overnight at the birmingham one but it doesn't quite have the same air of excitement
Started my dear friends christmas present today as I have FINALLY finished my mothers cardigan! Sewn in ends and all :j :j BUT I have completely forgotten to add my friend to my list  I knew I had to make her something (we are both crafters so no shop bought items allowed!) but it just didn't occur to me to add her to my present listBut never fear, it is well underway and is such a nice pattern i'm already half way done and might make her a second one so she has a matching pair

Hi all
Great progress being made by you all - very jealous!
Belated birthday wishes to Peppa - it always makes me smile when I see your name because my Goddaughter loves Peppa Pig!
Sammy_Kaye, I love all that elf on the shelf stuff. Wish I had a little person to do it for - a few years back my cousin did a grown up verison (she had a 17 year old then) and the elf did all kinds of naughty things like raiding the gin cupboard! Sorry you had such a rotten morning, hope things got better this afternoon...
GIAYD, sorry to hear you are having house dramas - keeping everything crossed that you get moved in time. We moved twice in 6 months this year and it's a nightmare when you've packed stuff away that you then end up needing.
GTQ and vulpix, well done on the weightloss - I put on 3lbs this week after stuffing my face all week *oops!* Need to get a shop in and plan some healthy meals for the week....
The Christmas craft fair I was busy prepping for was on Saturday and it went OK. I didn't make enough to cover my costs of materials, but my cousin suggested doing a car boot to sell the rest of my stock off. I sold at least one of everything, although my best customers were my mum and sister! I felt terrible taking money from them though....
Did a little bit of shopping on Friday night - bought my sister a t-shirt from Primark, it's one of those hidden sequinned affairs where you brush the sequins and the picture changes, and it's got a picture of Hogwarts on it so I think she'll love it. They've got loads of Disney stuff in at the moment, I ended up going back and picking her up some Disney baubles but she's giving me the money for them. I got one of those blueberry and fig candles too - they smell gorgeous! There were also gorgeous gingerbread candles in Poundworld, but the queue was ridiculous so I left it.
I also bought OH the beer advent calendar from Martin's email - 55 pounds for 24 cans of beer isn't that bad I don't think, I think the email puts it at RRP for the cans you get. My mum always gets us chocolate calendars and he's never impressed - he'll go weeks without opening the doors. I'm hoping that one more suited to his tastes *hic* will get him more in the spirit of the season.
My parents have invited us to go to the Dobbies Christmas event on Thursday, so hoping he's in a Christmassy mood then and we can check out the decorations and things. It's really hard when he's not in the mood to plan things, but gets upset if I plan without him. Must be patient lol.
I spoke to my sister on Saturday about the Christmas morning saga with my mum. Apparently the conversation came up organically yesterday, and they've had a chat and decided that coming over to mine for breakfast will work after all. Mum and Dad were here this morning and she said it was a 2-1 agreement that they'd come early, then said that they'd be here at 6:30 and I'd better be up with breakfast ready, so I'm guessing she was the 1 who didn't want to come, but never mind. They then started making demands about what they wanted for breakfast, which I shut down pretty quickly, because it's one of the things that OH deffo wants to put his mark on. Ho Hum, it'll all work out in the end, I'm sure.0 -
sammy_kaye - what a morning! I hope you've had a smoother rest of your day
patentgirl - you're most welcomeglad I could help
mrs-moneypenny - that's great you've been able to take the presents over. I think I'm going to start taking a few over to my parents' house tomorrow evening after work. As they have a sizeable house to stash them in compared to my flat - and I celebrate Christmas day with just the two of them and we always buy a ridiculous amount of gifts for each other! (Wouldn't have it any other way though).
Oakdene - the winter carnival sounds lovely! My hometown (where my parents still live) have a similar event at the beginning of Christmas and I just love it, can never miss one
LMG1305 - Glad I could help you too on that one...have you bought your items? What did you get?
rae123 - enjoy the light switch on!
GTQ - I hope all your organising and sorting goes well. I could do with another declutter myself...
princesskitty - I thought the same about this thread, my kinda people!
vulpix - well done on the car boot. I've got lots of things to sell but local selling pages/apps don't seem to be working well for me at the moment. Well done on the weight loss too!
GIAYD - that's great about getting your PPI money and it enabling you to add to savings
jakes-mum - I hope you get to go away to a market wherever you end up. We were considering doing a coach tour to the Birmingham one but now can't do the only Saturday that was available, so many are during the week whilst we work
treeny_bash - the Hogwarts top sounds great, I have a few Potter mad friends who would love that
No more presents bought since yesterday's success, but as I mentioned above, I'm going to start to take some presents for my parents over to their house tomorrow. I have Christmas there with just the two of them and they have a much bigger home than my flat, so I will start to stash them there and create much needed space here.
Also getting my mop chopped tomorrow finally, which I'm quite pleased about. It's got quite long and isn't healthy at the ends, so I'm going to go from long locks to just below shoulder length I think...fancy a slight change0 -
Nice to see you again MRSMONEYPENNY.
Wow SAMMY hope your day got better after that frantic start. So glad you caught up with the pup, I hate to see the lost dog posters, I worry about them all.
RAE I'm with you, I watched Christmas films all Sunday afternoon.
GTQ thanks for the tip, I shall look out for Making a Murderer on Netflix, there are often times when we can't find anything worth watching so that's one to give a try.
Still rooting for you GYD and congrats on the windfall.
Thanks TEENY. When I picked it my DGD was vet into Peppa but that was a few years ago, now she watches strange shows on Netflix.
ALJA that's lovely that you spend Christmas with your parents - I bet you're all as excited as children with your piles of pressies.
Nothing festive achieved here but I had a fabulous weekend at a spa and hotel with my DDs then watched Christmas films when I got home. Docs with my mum in the morning and DH is having a tooth out at the hospital tomorrow afternoon so no chance of getting festive tomorrow but hopefully I'll make up for it on Wednesday. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Busy, busy, busy in the group!
You're all making me feel very behind :rotfl:[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

Evening everyone, I had a fab weekend away in a Hotel with DD1 (my birthday present) we shopped til we dropped (doesn't take much with me) at Swindon Designer Outlet on Saturday then Bicester Designer Outlet on Sunday. We both thought we were staying in Bicester but it was actually Milton Keynes :rotfl: I gave you a wave PEPPAPIG. They had Christmas trees with lovely whte fairy lights in Bicester it was really festive. I cant remember who asked about having a real Christmas tree, for the last 6 years I have had a Nordmann Fir and I put it up the first weekend in December and take it down New Years Eve and it stays lovely as long as you keep the water topped up, mine is even next to a radiator.#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0
