Welcome THRIFTYLASS, it's Christmas planning all year here lol.

OMG SAMMYKAYE I didn't realise tonight's GOT was the season finale, it's only been back five minutes! I don't like flying either, I don't even like airports. I did man up and do an eight hour flight to St Lucia in 2003 and once we got going I actually enjoyed it and then did a couple of flights to Greece and short flights to Ireland. However, I haven't flown since and now I feel like I did in the first place :(

VULPIX hope the estate agent's visit goes well tomorrow and the valuation us good. I bet it all looks great with all the work you've done.

MRSINVISIBLE I bet you're a lovely neighbour, you always look at things so positively. Well done on getting the fences done too.

FREE hope you're feeling better today and have maybe been able to enjoy this unusually good bank holiday weather.

MURIE I feel your pain with the dolls house. I do regret selling my big Georgian house, although not the others, but I just keep reminding myself that I had nowhere to put it and at least I know the person that bought it was thrilled to have it.

Babysat the DGSs last night as DD worked the night, they're so cute bless them, although it'll be nice to wake up when I want to tomorrow oh and not to have to wipe bottoms lol.

Have the agonies of deciding on a new energy supplier now as the MSE collective switch us coming to an end. I can't decide whether to jump now or wait and see if MSE come up with another one. My gut feeling is that if they do it might be a small, unknown supplier so I probably won't want to do it anyway so I expect I'll do my own thing. I've narrowed it down to two tariffs now, just need to decide how long I want to fix for. I know it's nice to have choice but things were a lot simpler when you only had one provider for gas and one for electric!
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

I know!!!! GoT was good though and Im just glad that my two favourites have made it to the final series alive and well....although we will just have to wait and see now how long it takes for the final season to arrive.......Im ok though because between now and next year I have The Walking Dead back to keep me preoccupied and my friend has been nagging me to watch The Handmaids Tale so I think I might download that as well and give it a watch.
I'm hoping once I have done a short trip that I will gradually start to feel more confident. I didn't realise you could get quite so far in like 1hr 30mins so I'm hoping if I go OK with this trip then we can actually take the kids on holiday abroad somewhere because neither of them have ever flown either. My son wants to go to Amsterdam though (hes 13) so maybe we will make a return trip with them both at some point. I have to get there first.

Good luck with the energy supplier -I am on a payment plan with Swalec at the minute because I'm in a fair bit of debt so need to get that brought down before I can look at swapping. We only really use gas for heating now in the winter because we have an electric cooker so I'm hoping to try and use the Winter Prep threads on the OS board to keep use to a minimum.

Also wanted to add in that I have found a table! woohoo! And its in my works. Its 4ft so more than enough space and it folds so I can store it to one side when its not needed so it wont interfer with the 'gym'

Vulpix - good luck with you valuation

Come on in Thriftylass, nice to have you aboard.
I have never watched Game of Thrones, but l have read the Handmaids Tale. Found it depressing, in that it seemed to convey that whatever way the world/civilisation went, men made the rules and women made the meals. so l don't think l'll watch that either.
My energy fix is ending soon, too, so l will have to choose another.
    First rainy day, top priority.
Hope the valuation is up to standard, and that the valuer doesn't look in the loft. (l'd dread anyone looking in mine).
My neighbour brought the 3d scans of her grandchild to show me. They are amazing, more like photos. apparently there are now 4d scans too, but l have no idea what the 4th dimension can be.
l spent most of yesterday in the garden renewing the plants in the border, ready for the winter, and hopefully next year.
This afternoon my friend-whose-daughter-just-got-married is going to help me shampoo my carpets, hope she brings the wedding photos too.
Best get cracking and clear those carpets of debris and detritus, and move furniture.xx

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

Well, I started my Christmas ideas and budget list. It's still very much a draft but a start. Will definitely make limoncello again and maybe try fudge this year, and blackboard mugs for friends. DS needs a new bike. He's 6 and not too bothered about brand new yet. We found this wee store where a couple of bikers just rebuilt bikes from scrap and then sell them. That's where we got a bargain MTB before.

Definitely getting chillier here now but trying to keep the heating off as long as possible. Kids are back in onsies at night and I'll get the thicker duvets out soon.

    Good evening everybody,

Sorry i haven't been on for a while. It was a hectic on friday at the Drs and then my medical appt. When we got home the kitchen tap was leaking so we had to sort that out. I am being referred to see a specialist to get a diagnosis so it is just a waiting game now. On the christmas front I ordered some decorative snowflakes from china for 99p and they arrived today. They look nice. Also got a few things in shopping baskets online waiting for payday

GYD- hope everything is going ok with your contract exchange
free- I have been looking for the christmas in july too, hope you are feeling better
msgiglewick- yes!!! love the matalan hristmas stuff
lazysheep-i am the same, i just like to watch QVC to remind me its not far off but nothing this year
murie-your gift from your DD sounds lovely, your gift from bailey on the other hand sounds horrid lol

Sammykaye- The uniform has completely skint me this month!

HI 046 - I weighed in on Monday and I am 15st 8lbs!!!! and yesterday hit a low and ate a 180g chocolate bar to myself because I was feeling low and miserable. Needless to say I felt horrendous afterwards since I'm not meant to eat chocolate in the first place , and so made myself a plan. Brought a notepad, have written a letter to myself in the front and plan to stick a recent photo of me on the front. Im setting the goal of Christmas and then a week off and then back on it in the new year ready for holiday in June.
I did make a good start this morning though - I got up at 6am, took the dog out for a half hour walk and then came home and had apple, 2 ryvita and a bottle of squash for my breakfast. Im following the Slimming World plan too. Going to tackle the house today as well - room by room.

Thrifty - I will be attempting fudge this year in my slow cooker for christmas I think. See how it works out. I have tried the last few years and successfully made toffee but not fudge as of yet! Same here with trying to keep the heating off as long as possible although I prefer colder weather and am still sleeping with the windows open much to hubbys annoyance!

Morning all, I’ve just got back from a nice long weekend for a wedding in Croatia and it was lovely but looks like summer is well and truly over here, I don’t mind because we’re nearly in September J My DH couldn’t stop laughing when we found a Christmas shop in Dubrovnik and I bought a decoration in 34 degree heat!
sammy_kay I think that’s a great idea letting the kids have their own tree, although after the uniform shop you’re probably on the lookout for a bargain tree too. Not sure I’d be best pleased if my DH got rid of the dining table! What’s the mari lwyd? And don’t be so hard on yourself with the weight loss, sometimes it takes a 180g bar of chocolate to help you focus J
04624181 shame you missed the one you’d be eyeing, try looking around again otherwise the price will just go up the closer we get. How annoying about the boiler, ours is playing up too at the minute but it means one of us taking the day off for british gas to come round L glad yours is sorted now though. Hopefully the next dr’s appointment will make things a bit clearer
Princesskitty the 12 dates of Christmas sound lovey, I may steal that idea myself since we’ve set a £20 budget this year, that means I can pay for them later in the year and get away with not sticking to the budget. Hope you’re little one is doing better dairy free.
Peppa I’m waiting on the collective british gas deal too, I’ll let you know if I see an update
Thanks for the head up on Matalan msgigglewick, I know what I’ll be doing this morning!
    Welcome thriftylass J
    I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:

Hi all, forgot we had the dentist today. Managed to get us all together and get there on time. All had check ups but DS had to have a baby tooth removed as it was making the adult tooth crooked. Dentist need to give him an injection so he isnt feeling great. We have given the shoe shopping a miss until tomorrow. Just spending the day getting organised in the house. Cleaning, washing and organising. Friday is going to be a last day of freedom day. We are going to go out bowling, cinema and out for lunch. Mum and kids day.
On the Christmas front, brothers family will not be attending the annual Christmas day breakfast. Fully understand, they have 3 kids now and they want to stay at home and play with their toys. They have extended an open invitation to their home in the evening but we like to stay in and relax Will probably arrange to see them on Christmas eve.

Sammykaye- sounds excellent. I am going to weigh in at the gym when I eventually get there. I havent been for months. Good idea with the notebook, I may do the same.
elliew8- hope your boiler is a quick fix, always so expensive when something goes wrong.

    sammy_kay What’s the mari lwyd?

Thats crazy - my dad has just come back from Dubrovnik on Monday night too :-) He is a big game of thrones fan so was wandering around kings landing sending me pictures :D

The Mari Lwyd is a strange tradition here in Wales and in Maesteg they still do it. Its basically a horses skull on a pole that is decorated with ribbons, tassles etc.....and lots of people go from door to door asking for entry, they sing songs and read poetry but the jist is that the Mari Lwyd knocks the door and speaks a rhyme to you and the inhabitants of the house have to say a rhyme back not allowing access.......if the Mari Lwyd wins they are invited in and fed, given a drink etc before moving to the next house.......if the inhabitants win the Mari Lwyd just moves along. :D
