I think s and g big sets is dwindling because it's usually same stuff each year in new packaging
    Mortgage free wannabe

    Actual mortgage stating amount £75,150

Overpayment paused to pay off cc

    Starting balance £66,565.45

    Current balance £58,108

    Cc around 8k.

  • I think they should cordon off the sale area in bigger stores and only let so many people in at a time. It would make things safer and you only end up queueing at the tills anyway.

Also, I went to pay at the pharmacy counter because I figured the main queue wasn't worth it for one item and I thought it acceptable to pay at the pharmacy for one thing. Two women were there buying four trolleys worth! Fortunately there were three tills as they were being served when I joined the queue and when I left twenty minutes later! I don't mind people buying loads to sell on but blocking up the pharmacy to do so seems a bit out of order.

I did not know Boots stopped accepting Compliments vouchers?! I got few things I wanted and when I got to the till they told me they are no longer accepting those vouchers. I used to pay by Compliments vouchers in the past without any problems. I felt so embarrassed with the long queue behind that I left without buying anything.

They stopped taking them due to the high number of forgeries in circulation, apparently they were easy to copy convincingly as the security features were not good.

I have to agree with some of the above posts

I popped into the Manchester Andale store ...arrived later than I hoped at 8.40am . The store was absolutely MANIC. families blocking off full aisle worth of items, handfuls of 'groups/families' with I am not joking 6-7 ikea bags of things!!! Tbh the staff were lovley and there was a lot of stuff to be had (loadssss of S&G , jack wills scarf sets, FCUK , sanctuary loadsssss ) basically half the top floor but why not do it more organised so rope off and x per items per customer.

I got a few bits mainly for gifts throughout the year but nothing particularly amazing. I used triple points and an extra point thing (250 when you spend £x) I forgot.

I've been going to the sale for the last four years or so and this was the worst stock wise. Six waiting for the doors to open at 8am - but the man at the front wasn't there for the sale he wanted the chemist! Hadn't had chance for a recce and shocked when it was only one shelf this year - usually three, if not four shelves. Anyway quite civilised. One person did seem to pick up all the S&G crackers but no one seemed bothered.

Don't know if the staff were unprepared but all the signage was still showing 50% and to be honest the shelves were a mess. They obviously hadn't been tidied in preperation. I picked up something on the shelf as soon as I got there but couldn't see a sticker, so checked at the till and it wasn't a sale item.

Had to go back to other shops on the retail park this afternoon and had a quick look in case more stock had been brought out - it hadn't, but the signage had been changed.
  • Coventry central six was crazy people had trolleys full, one woman surrounded with bags and was getting more. Then staff was getting more from the back and a huge crowd just waited by the doors as soon as the stock came out jumped on the wheelie trolley. Madness. Little choice aswell mainly jack wills.
  • becles I was at Team Valley at 9.20 and there was hardly anything there, the aisles were so jam packed with people you could barely get down them and there were huge queues at the tills. I also did Metrocentre, Dragonville and Arnison and the best was Arnison even though it was afternoon by then. Based on the number of aisles in each store they all had far less than previous years.

I did a recce yesterday at Arnison but it didn't have what I wanted so I gave it a miss today. I wonder if they had more stuff out back to bring out today which is what you saw because there wasn't much variety yesterday.

I'm up & off but only want 2 Jack Wills gifts, the large blanket scarfs!
Hopefully if people are doing the sale instore today, you all get the things you're after :)
    GOOD LUCK!
I,ve just arrived in town, it's about 10 mins before store opens and so far there are far fewer people than normal waiting at the door

I got my Jack Wills blanket scarf gift, plus everything else I wanted (bar one item) in 10 minutes of a stress/crush-free shop at 8am :). It really was quieter today than I've experienced for the last couple of years. My theory is that Bootsers have got so used to the sale starting on a Wednesday that they couldn't rearrange to be in town for the Friday instead. I went in before work, and did consider going from there to another store for the one item I knew I could get there, but in the end I decided I couldn't be bothered hanging around until 9am for one item.

I might revisit over the weekend (I have experience of more stock/returned stock coming onto the shelves again the weekend after the sale starts) but I'm happy with what I've got (including my Scholl velvet smooth purple pedi set, which I've had my eye on since before Xmas) :).

Our local store were telling people couldn't use point coupons today.

thats not correct though - i even got my cashier to split my bill at the till so I could use my £6 in points when you spend £45, then another points coupon on my 2nd transaction.
  • What's the pedicures set is it any good i had one in my basket but put it back as it was £20 ish? No soap and glory whole glam tins in the West Midlands absolutely gutted :(
