Boots Sale

  • I got to our local store before opening and there were less people waiting than there usually is on sale day. Some were saying they had been the last 2 Wednesdays!! Very calm, no pushing and shoving and no one buying piles of stuff to obviously sell on. I managed to get a few bits that I wanted but was disappointed there was no Soap & Glory as I'm actually running out of it now!

I would still send an email rather than a DM on twitter or PM on Facebook.

Not sure why but the information the Facebook/Twitter team give out is sometimes not 100%. Like one of them saying the 70% off sale was online as well, only to be corrected later by a colleague from instore.

It is the boots help Twitter and I've had things sorted out from them before, will wait and see what they say and if I don't get a satisfactory response will send them an email, Thanks.

The response this time was that vouchers do work with some offers but as this was a 70% sale this is different. They said they would like to feedback to the store management and are putting it down as a training isssue so have asked for the store it happened in. Still doesn't seem right that if they didn't want the voucher to be accepted on sale that they wouldn't of set the till up not to accept it!

Our local store were telling people couldn't use point coupons today.

I used a coupon worth £5 of points for a £40+ spend with no trouble, wasn't even questioned. I did notice there were no signs in the shop window advertising the 70% off sale.:j

If that is the case they should include it in the briefing sent to stores as apparently it isn't in it. Nothing about vouchers and as you said if it shouldn't work then it would be programmed into the till. This is another reason to use the preloaded vouchers on you Advantage card as the assistant doesn't know what is going through with most of them.

  • I gave up on the Boots 70% sale a couple of years ago when I was witness to an old lady getting shoved to the floor by some greedy person. However, I'm expecting my first grandchild this year so the temptation was too great!! I managed to get some things online at 3.00am this morning (I didn't wait up - they were in my basket in the off-chance they would be there when I got up but the dog had me up so I did it then!). I had to pop into town anyway this morning so went in to our store at about 9.40am - there were people queueing laden with bags and trolleys - when I reached the sale area it was pure madness!! People had blue Ikea bags full of stuff and I watched several people just chucking anything and everything into them. One man was the on the phone to someone (I guess his wife), telling them what was there and just bagging boxes of it all. I didn't want any of the gift stuff (I now treat myself when it's 50% off if there is anything I really want) but I managed to get some more baby things so I was happy.

I hope everyone who went managed to at least get a few things they wanted :)

My Mam got some extra points that she had preloaded on to her card from the app and she said she used a double points coupon not sure if they both worked but she did get some extra points and the 10% off!

Have been going to Boots sale for years & always pretty civilised but today was sheer lunacy at Middlesbrough. Queue at front of shop was about 60 at 8.20 am when I joined it - when doors opened at 8.30 about 20 people from further back of queue surged forward & shoved people out of way to get in. Aisles felt like a rugby scrum & it is a miracle that no one was seriously hurt. There was so much fighting over the Ted Baker sets that the entire display collapsed. People were grabbing sometimes 10-20 of one item at a time & the whole thing descended into pushing & shoving with mega displays of bad manners. Heard a few people saying "never again". Can't help but wonder if the hype over this sale was deliberate - if so can Boots please develop a responsible approach to the sale to ensure the safety of their customers. If this is the way forward I'm giving it a miss next year!!!

I did not know Boots stopped accepting Compliments vouchers?! I got few things I wanted and when I got to the till they told me they are no longer accepting those vouchers. I used to pay by Compliments vouchers in the past without any problems. I felt so embarrassed with the long queue behind that I left without buying anything.
  • becles I was at Team Valley at 9.20 and there was hardly anything there, the aisles were so jam packed with people you could barely get down them and there were huge queues at the tills. I also did Metrocentre, Dragonville and Arnison and the best was Arnison even though it was afternoon by then. Based on the number of aisles in each store they all had far less than previous years.
