I know I am late joining but please can I post a budget of £150 from 30th Dec to 31st Jan covering food, toiletries and cleaning stuff. This is for me, adult DS3 and two cats. I have already spent £35,16 and should only need to get bread before the main weekly shop on Friday or Saturday. I joined the challenge last January but stopped posting sometime around July although I tried to keep to the budget. Will try harder to keep up this year.

Morning all
Managed a NSD yesterday, and had a good tidy/sort through the food cupboards. I was given a lovely magnetic shopping list for Christmas do it's been put on the fridge door and I've told everyone if they use the last pack of anything it are to write it down, I'll see how it goes, I'm hoping it will save me frustration when I expect to find something that has been used up.
Planning another NSD today.SPC~12 ot 124

Gonna take the plunge and join you guys this year.
Just me and the Mutt to feed so £60 pm £720 for the year.
Spent 8.72 Last Week for myself
Not much to buy today when shopping, though have to get mutt some dry food.
Have loads in cupbiards to use up .....and Im determined to take control of those darn cupbiards this year !!!2017- No Clutter to be Seen Total 59/20170 -
Few quid to add on - but expected spends due to Mr T not having cauli or kale or spinach available for me on 1 Jan!
Have stuck to my recipes this week which has meant I ate well and haven't spent extra... except for one day I bought a sandwich because I went straight from work to doctors, then had to do a Mall run and then it was nearly 7 and I was so hungry! M&S have two new vegan sandwiches it turns out, so I bought one of them which was nice.
Total waste of money though because pretty much was finished then so had tea maybe an hour later!!
A yummy new recipe I've tried this week is "Tex-Mex Casserole" (again from Oh She Glows - I get my money's worth from that book!)
Here's a link to the recipe and my picture of mine - it was REALLY good and made loads! It's casserole in the American sense - this one is rice based. It's actually very frugal if you have spices already. I topped mine with avocado and coriander, but again, leave this off and it's much more MSE!
Revised Plan accounting for first 2 weeks over budget!
21-27 Dec: £40.22
28-3 Jan: £35.62
4-10 Jan: £20 (£3.51 so far)
11-17 Jan: £20
18-25 Jan: £24.16
Hmm, £40 and £35 seems quite a lot to spend per week for just me, especially considering there weren't any MASSIVE items in there! I think that first week did include olive oil (spray and bottle) which would have been nearly a fiver, but still!
Now I need to aim for £20 a week to stay in budget. *Should* be do-able! Last week has a the extra as it includes my birthday weekend. i'd like to come in under on the other two weeks so I can roll a bit over to that last week, but we'll see.
Oh yes, last night I had Indian Lentil and Cauliflower soup , again fairly frugal and makes loads and is delicious!

Thank goodness for this thread.
Have had 3 NSDs but was planning to go to the supermarket today, not because we need anything but because I told myself "we're 'running low on fruit". (My usual shopping day is Friday , so it would have been an extra unnecessary trip
Only reading your posts I realised that were NOT really running low on fruit at all. I'm so glad I chose to read the thread whilst I finished my cup of tea. You've really got me back on track. We still have lots of apples and oranges, tinned peaches, pineapple, pears and apricots and we don't NEED any more grapes, pears or bananas until we wade our way through the fruit we've still got.
Many thanks to all posters, I really needed the inspiration you've just given me.0 -
