In the news tonight, the Romanian President is blocking a Muslim from becoming PM. But the UK is xenophobic and full of little Englanders

I believe it's more to do with her political inexperience than anything else. That's what my sources on the ground are telling me.

There is absolutely no issue with a Muslim becoming PM. Our Mayor of London is a Muslim, as is Shahid Malik, who served as an MP and a Cabinet Minister.

We can't have an Islamic Monarch.

I'm not sure that this is true. If memory serves me well the only religion barred from becoming the monarch is Catholic and there was talk of repealing this recently.

Considering our monarchy is a bloodline and the next two heirs seem to be happily married to C of E adherants, then that truly is not a problem.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • Well here's a UK engineering manufacturer very seriously considering moving more of its production back to the UK:
Weir, the engineer, is examining whether to move production of some equipment from overseas to the UK to benefit from the weaker pound.
Before the UK’s EU referendum, the site in the Calder Valley had already benefited from its status as one of the most cost-effective facilities run by the FTSE 250 group, with a significant manufacturing workload transferred there this year.

The question asked by the OP was "Will Brexit really be good for Britain"
When Britain leaves in the early part of 2019 everyone hopefully will be working hard to make it so.
It does not matter frankly which way anyone voted, Democracy has spoken and Britain is leaving the EU. Even those who voted remain will in time be working for Britains success post EU.
Since the referendum six months ago in June there has been an almost daily announcement reported in these forums of good Economic news. This stream of good news while we remain in the EU should continue.
It will then be in the hands of the British people to continue that success.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Nothing has changed due to the vote. There's been good news for some considerable length of time. Business carries on regardless. The real boost comes from a more realistic exchange rate. Something unhelpful to our near neighbours.

most people (99.9999% ) work for an income and to provide a good life for their family; I doubt if anyone works to make a success of brexit.

There has been good and bad news during the last 6 months, most of which has been outside the control of the people of the UK

Say rather, there has been good and bad news during the last 60 years, most of which has been outside the control of the people of the UK

So you admit the vote to leave the EU hasn't actually had any effect, whether positive or negative yet?

You see, that makes no sense, because surely businesses should be preparing for free trade with the rest of the world, and at least some contracts, in addition to those export contracts already in place, should have been agreed by now? Ok, exports are up, but that would probably be as a result of a weaker pound in the months following the vote, and we don't know how much of that is long term.

I don't see that as good news, I see that as highly disturbing if the non-EU exports start to stagnate into next year.

The fact is less than 5% of UK companies export. Strip out the large corporations and multi-nationals that already do, and there's not a huge amount left in value terms. For the remainder of companies takes time to establish export markets. Isn't just a question of selling goods either. It's finding quality customers. After all a sale is no use if you don't get paid. Nor is anyone going to invest and tool up with new machinery etc unless there's certainty. The UK is around 70% service based industry which constrains the ability to grow exports faster as well.
