Will Brexit really be good for Britain?

my simple question was much does did the red tape cost you?
I believe in free trade, so of course I think tariffs and other barriers will harm the EU27, just as I believe the current protectionism of the EU harms all 28 of us now.
Don't quote, will delete.

Thanks for backing me up on this Doshwasher, good to know I'm not the only one!💙💛 💔0 -

I normally waste about 30 minutes when sending stuff to the US, but that usually results in a few round-trips with compliance teams and stuff. That probably puts the cost to my business for my time at being about £50, plus whatever the compliance team wastes.
That admittedly a rare occurrence, but I reckon if I was doing it regularly, it'd probably cost about £10/package more than it does to go to the EU. That said, if it was a regular thing we might hire someone just to do it which may make it cheaper.
That's also completely ignoring things like scheduling and customs delays. If I send it UPS I can get it into someones hands at the other side in 2 days. Going to the US it's probably 4, and there can be delays of potentially 8 weeks at customs if it doesn't go straight through.
That's before you even look at customs charges; we've had imports where the customs bill has been in the 5 digits range, that wouldn't occur if it came from the EU.
So there's a real cost from leaving the customs union. It can be mitigated against but it'll always cost more to trade from the outside.0 -
however do we do so much trade with the rest of the world?
however does the rest of the world do any trade at all?0 -

I didn't say we don't, I said that it makes life more difficult. 3 of us have confirmed that now.
Can you please read the top line of what you have quoted and take appropriate action?💙💛 💔0 -

I feel you shouldn't post if you want to delete : there is nothing there that needs deleting, nothing personal, nothing offensive just an useful post
however I will edit my post as paranoid is acceptable reason I suppose.0 -

As you well know that's a pointless strawman question.
We do more trade with the EU than any other market because it's cheaper to trade with and the barriers to trade are virtually non-existent to us as a member state.
We also do more expensive and more difficult trade with other markets - that we are not in a single market/customs union with - however replacing some of the current tariff-free and easy to do as part of the customs union trade in the EU, with more expensive and more difficult trade elsewhere, does nothing for British prosperity.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

There would also be the knock-on effect to businesses in Ireland. At present, a lot of their trade with Continental Europe goes by road across the Irish sea, though Wales and England then across the Channel. If the UK is outside of the Customs Union then that makes all of those shipments much more complicated and expensive.0 -

The relative costs of trading with the EU and the rest of the world is a reasonable question which hasn't been answered;
equally the question of why our trade with the EU is falling relative to the rest of the world is an equally valid question.
The relative amount of red tape between markets doesn't necessarially determine the profit to be made.
It's good you firmly recognise the damage and harm the EU will do to the people of europe if they don't come to a reasonable trade agreement with the UK.
No strawmen in my post : sadly the same thoughtless and dogmatic devotion to the holy EU, in yours.0 -

I'm on the verge of potentially annoying clients at the moment, and I'd really prefer it not to be something on here that does it.
I'm aware that my postings here are being watched, but by who exactly (as in the username), I don't know. Someone a few weeks back commented on something I'd posted on fb (that clients could see) specifically relating to infos I'd posted here. Not for the first time, either.💙💛 💔0 -
