  • G'day, especially to Aussie and Haribo  Hope you two will behave yourselves today, and give poor Pink a rest :A

DH is supposed to be off w*** today, but has to give a talk to a group of visiting Chinese colleagues. I've made him a chocolate cake to take to share with them. He's promised to knock off early. He's going to B&Q to get some bits for us to continue with a job here, and we'll be on with the garden again, if it stops raining

Hardup Hester - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: at the magnetic pants.

Churchmouse - great to see you back :T

N9eav - intrigued as to why your DH is keen to adopt. Can you not do long-term fostering (sorry, this sounds like an impertinent question - just ignore me if it is :o ).

Going to go out on my bike and see if I can find some blackberries - we have a poor crop. Disappointed as there are several people here who have lots, and I really fancy an apple and blackberry crumble.

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Good morning everyone,

A HUGE Thank You to everyone who sent my DS birthday wishes yesterday, his face was a picture when i showed him!!! He had a lovely day, and the visit by his dad went ok - i hate seeing him, but he paid for the mel, which is good, and ive found out that he isnt moving to Birmingham anymore, its Bristol, so not far enough away, but never mind!! At least the visit is over and done with now.

ageandjo - lovely to see you posting again, i often think of you when the scores come in on a Saturday:rolleyes: !!!

PP - hope you are feeling better today x

Nels - Hope yesterday went ok for you xx

Haribo - hope you are feeling better, and the tablets have kicked in!!!

CM - havnt read the end of yesterdays thread yet, but looks like you are back, so WELCOME HOME and hope you had a wonderful time xx

((HUGS)) to anyone who would like or needs one xx

Not working today, but DD has a dentist appointment, so will be having the day off school. She knocked her front teeth out when she was 3, and the adult ones came down damaged, so the dentist is going to try and fill them so they will be nice and white - shes had a bit of fuss at school (and her own father) about the fact her teeth are discoloured (because of the enamel) so she is really looking forward to this, even though she will have to have a local anesetic, which we have explained to her.
We will then go into Plymouth to do a bit of shopping, and hopefully, if her mouth feels ok, go somewhere nice for lunch as a being brave treat.

    Breakfast - Weetabix
    Lunch - Not sure yet!!!
    Dinner - HM pizza.

    Have a lovely day everyone,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Why can't they amuse themselves? It's like havng a toddler around! I find it so hard to get 'me' time when he's home. Roll on next week!

Anyway, welcome to all the newbies, well done, FROGGA, on the OS weightloss thread - will drop in to that later. Must also look for the leek and bacon bake recipe - sounds great.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I've had a quick look, and I can't find it so here it is :

    1lb potatoes
    2 leeks
    5oz grated cheese
Splash of milk & knob of butter
    6 rashers smoked bacon

Preheat oven to gas mark 5 (about 190 electric). Boil potoes.

Chop leeks into 1" segments & cut lengthways. Put in bowl and pour on boiling water & microwave on full power for 4 mins.

Part grill bacon. When potatoes are cooked, mash. In ovenproof dish, spread layer of mash, then layer of cheese, then layer of leek & bacon. Layer until all ingredients used. Sprinkle some cheese on top & cook for 20- 30 mins.

    Yummmmm

    Morning

Thanks all for your thoughts for yesterday - it went as well as any funeral can. My mum took on the role of looking after her sister the whole day so I think that helped her cope better.

Anyway lots and lots of work to do today as well as it being VAT time again - those 3 months really fly around seemingly and no I havent kept up to date so its going to be another mammoth office day tomorrow I guess:o I must find time to read that book I have somewhere on Time Managagement:D

Not sure what I will be eating may have a Nelski surprise (ie an unlabeled tupperware dish from the freezer)

Anyone reading this live BBC1 news are doing a slot on Old stye cooking (from rations ) think Thrift monster got in first on that one (was it Thrift monster sorry if it wasnt.

Right best get another cuppa and then get to work

    Good Morning All

n9eav - I can see where your'e coming from! You would make a great parent, whether its adopting or fostering, your'e just thinking logical & practical! I only have 2 children, and as selfish as it may sound, I dont think I could start over again. Its nice to have babies/toddlers around me, but its also nice to hand them back! (think I'll shut up now before I dig a bigger hole)
mrs-mix - hope dd gets better soon
tired mum - hope you get that appointment
dlb - relax & spend the day on the sofa curled up!

WM on, most likely have to use the TD as its drizzling of rain here!
Kids will be with their dad after school until 8.30pm. I hope to spend the free time and get more items listed on ebay!
OH will be doing car boot on Sat & Sunday (weather permitting).

Managed to get some keys cut yesterday. Thanks to dlb who's holding them for me! Hopefully we wont have another episode like we did on Weds! lol

Anyway, best get organised & get ready for work
    Love Emma xxx
