lol- thats like us up here, it was raining cats and dogs here and cloudy here this morning, i d swap it for hot sunshine anytime !!
as for taking a gamble- we had the $50 mgm freeplay and doubled our money and took it out and i said to my brother we can spend $50 and have a go at the high limit slots $10 a go or a similar stake, so he takes my machine slip and heads to a machine and presses the button and i hit the button and bang we are outta money !!
silly sod had set the stakes at $50 a go ... did not win anything- though in theory since it was a reward we didn't lose anything !!
we did well on the willy wonka slots though.0 -
Dammit, I just missed the 2x Aria lunch buffet reward on MV by a couple of seconds. It was showing one available, but gone by the time I put in my details. Will be waiting to swoop tomorrow.Does anyone know if I can get a better deal by waiting until roughly one month before departure when booking a thomas cook package?
Any other tips on getting the best prices appreciated
There're lots of tips on the first page of the thread re: packages and prices.
I think one month before might be leaving it too late. When are you looking to travel? I find Low Cost USA is usually the best bet for low prices on accommodation, and then to buy the flight separately. If you can wait until they have a sale, so much the better. Or do what I did, book at a price you're happy with, and then if you see the price come down a lot in the sale you can cancel the original and re-book at the sale price (it costs £30 per person to cancel unless you're very close to departure date, so the sale price has to outweigh that and make it worthwhile).Egg Loan - [strike]£4921.84[/strike] £0!! :j Barclaycard - £3866.47 Legal + Trade - [strike]£2700.96[/strike] £0!! :j Triton - [strike]£1730.89[/strike] £0!! :j Next - [STRIKE]£776.15[/STRIKE] £126.88 Littlewoods - [strike]£217.16[/strike] £0!! :j Housemate - [strike]£1300[/strike] £0!! :j Capital One - [STRIKE]£1652.51[/STRIKE] £1,081.58 Vanquis - [strike]£2337.75[/strike] £375.58

Depending on time of year, deals can be had on hotels at short notice but I wouldn't bank on cheap flights even at a month out. If you see a decent price for a flight and happy with it book it and look forward to it.
If you want cheaper flights check out google flights, also check flights from Dub, they have saved £000s in the past.
With hotels I try to book a refundable rate so I can cancel if a better deal appears at short notice.0 -
Hi all - Great thread, its a credit to everyone who has contributed.
Quick question, OH and myself have been talking about celebrating my 60th at Vegas - that would be around November 2020.
Is that too far ahead to be thinking about joining MyVegas /Mlife etc ?
( In case the points only have a limited "shelf life " )
Thanks0 -

Welcome!
2020 is a long way away but it would give you lots of time to start building up MyVegas loyalty points. They don't expire. The actual MLife points, the ones that move you up through the tiers, do expire but you don't start earning those until you get to Vegas and start spending in the MGM hotels.Egg Loan - [strike]£4921.84[/strike] £0!! :j Barclaycard - £3866.47 Legal + Trade - [strike]£2700.96[/strike] £0!! :j Triton - [strike]£1730.89[/strike] £0!! :j Next - [STRIKE]£776.15[/STRIKE] £126.88 Littlewoods - [strike]£217.16[/strike] £0!! :j Housemate - [strike]£1300[/strike] £0!! :j Capital One - [STRIKE]£1652.51[/STRIKE] £1,081.58 Vanquis - [strike]£2337.75[/strike] £375.58

I agree with Misty Blue. It's a good time to start with MyVegas. The sooner the better really.0

Thanks for replies both :-)
My OH does facebook, will have a read up on the myvegas stuff with her.
Not a social media person myself, so probably go down the Android route, as prefer not to get involved with facebook.0 -

Thanks pebblesmax.
We will just use OH facebook, we wouldnt be gambling seperately in Vegas anyway, so one Mlife account/card would be ok.
Which leads me onto another question...
I have read Stuies instructions for adding friends etc, but before that stage - Does my OH register on Mlife first, and can she link her facebook account to Mlife during the Mlife registration process ?
Sorry for the dumb newbie queries !!0
