  • Agree with what dontone says.

Our first trip to Vegas we went for 7 nights. It wasn't long enough,we went back later that same year for 10 nights.
Next weekend we are off to Vegas for visit number 15 or 16 or something like that, and will be for 12 nights. This seems to be our blueprint trip now.
Fly on a Sunday, come home a week on Friday.
I can only guess that people who comment on 5 days max must be heavy into gambling and clubbing.I suppose you could blow a lot of cash in that time, and a 24/7 attitude to drinking and partying would leave you knackered and possibly skint after 5 days.Either that or they just didn't like Vegas that much.

There is so much more to Vegas than just drinking and gambling....though to be fair, I do enjoy both while I am there...but so many people never see it.Forums like this one provide a great source of info for anyone who cares to make the most out of their Las Vegas experience.
  • We try to go for 9 days - it gives flexibility with flights (not always having to fly Saturday or Sunday can mean cheaper flights) and if we only stay for one weekend the total hotel cost is less (weekends are much more expensive in hotels)
  • I agree with dontone too. The shortest trip we have taken is 2 weeks. Trip number 31 coming up soon. For an incredible to most, 45 days. I can assure you we won't be bored for a single hour. We are a bit older than some, and it takes a day or so to feel 100% after the journey.

If you fly for 10 hours and just drink and gamble the whole time, you will be missing so much of what Vegas has to offer. The city is so much more than that. It has world class restaurants, shopping, shows, and so much more. If you get up early the first day or two, the people watching early morning is a sight to behold.

We love the place. You will not get the real feel of it in just five jet lagged days.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time.
  • Agree as well, first trip was in May for a week and going back out in November for a week, not into the gambling side of things either, had a go when I was out there last time just to say I had and broke even, so much to do out there apart from the gambling side of things and because they want your business it's cheap as chips to go at the moment.

I have to admit that when I hear/read things like this, it does annoy me. I've seen a few people on my FB page say 'thinking of going to Vegas, any tips' and the amount of people who say 'well, don't go for longer than 3 to 5 days' really gets on my thrup'innies.
Like I have said to some people. 3/5 days isn't long enough, you have to spend a day getting there, a 10 - 11 hour direct flight for a start, & a day getting used to the time difference, and to explore the Strip/Fremont Street properly takes about a week.
Never listen to anybody who says 5 days is enough, it isn't. If you have other commitments at home, or on a budget then that's fair enough. But for somewhere like Vegas & Nevada, and you have the budget, time, etc, then the longer the better. Mainly because you not only have Fremont Street, but places to explore like Primm, Hoover Dam, Boulder City, Lake Mead, Laughlin, and lots of shopping malls. It's a big place, some of it is more spectacular than the Strip (The Valley Of Fire is lovely)
    Hope this helps. ;)

    exactly this.

the only people who say 5 days is long enough either havent been or dont do any research before going

apart from what there is to see and do in the vicinity the killer is the first day flight and time difference

We just spend what we feel like. We aren't extravagant but do enjoy ourselves. I've never checked how much it costs. Maybe I will this time.
