We have just returned home from Vegas today. Trying really hard to stay up but slowly flagging!! We flew with Thomas cook Stuie, flight was fine but had to pay for everything. Movie upgrade and 2 drinks each for the 4 of us about £40 each way. We didn't pay to reserve seats either. You can't select them yourselves 24 hours before they select them, but we managed to get 4 together so all good,
Had a great time also did LA and Palm Springs this trip will put some points together when I feel a bit more normal!!0 -
It's pouring down in Vegas right now. It's quite odd!
Off to the Foundation Room and Skyfall bar tonight so hoping for a good view of the storm clouds.

Trouble is in America is that things like that can be really expensive. Best to take stuff with you, and that includes painkillers and tummy tablets. DH had a bout of food poisoning last year when we were there and it cost about $15 for some Peptol Bismol ('cos he used all the squit tablets I brought) and a special re-hydration drink to settle his stomach.
Best to be prepared. It's surprising sometimes how dear medical stuff is over there.
I agree if you have no option but to buy it at or near your hotel, but at places like WalMart (particularly if you buy the generic version) it's vastly cheaper than the UK. We always load up on headache tablets, cold tablets, chewy antacids (the newish gummy ones are GREAT). The hotel gift shops have a captive audience and charge outrageous prices for pretty much everything.
The US cold tablets we get are known as 'the magic yellow pills' to most people we know - sooooo much better than the rubbish you can get here - does nothing for me.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
regarding Cosmo, we have been really sad that our comps dried up - for the first time in a few years we're going into our second trip with no Cosmo stay. But have been reading not great things about it, including the new parking charges.
Absolutely adore the terrace rooms, and we would jump at the chance to try it again, but in some ways hearing bad stuff about it makes us feel a bit less sore about no comps.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

We were in the Cosmo casino today. It's changed in the last few years, IMO. There's a strange atmosphere which isn't pleasant. A result of them constantly failing to enforce any standards of behaviour on the guests, I believe. They've created an 'anything goes' environment. I was happy to leave.Egg Loan - [strike]£4921.84[/strike] £0!! :j Barclaycard - £3866.47 Legal + Trade - [strike]£2700.96[/strike] £0!! :j Triton - [strike]£1730.89[/strike] £0!! :j Next - [STRIKE]£776.15[/STRIKE] £126.88 Littlewoods - [strike]£217.16[/strike] £0!! :j Housemate - [strike]£1300[/strike] £0!! :j Capital One - [STRIKE]£1652.51[/STRIKE] £1,081.58 Vanquis - [strike]£2337.75[/strike] £375.58

Yes we still stay there, the cleaning has always been an issue but the other stuff outweighs the little niggles.
That Travel Zoo offer is a good one, I'd jump at it if I wasn't already booked to stay there in September. You can't beat no resort fees and a 900 sq. ft. fully rigged out suite for $99

Hiya
I refuse to buy anything from the hotel gifts shops like that as I agree that their prices are outrageous. I bought the stuff to help DH's stomach at the CVS/Walgreens (I forget which it is) Pharmacy shop near to the Venetian/Palazzo. The lady who gave me advice on what to give him wasn't exactly polite either lol. It was one of those 'needs must' occasions. The stuff I got him helped though, so in a way, it was worth the money (although I could have 'invested' that in the Walking Dead machine)
In regards to WalMart, we stock up on water & snacks, and I always buy me Mam some Disney nightshirts because the prices are really cheap and American sizes seem to be a little less snug than over here. We buy toiletries too as it's cheaper. Never thought to buy medicine though. I will bear it in mind for next time. :TBEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -
seriously - the severe cold and flu cold tablets, generic - they are magical.
and we buy headache tablets, again the generic - it's basically anadin extra (£1.99 for 12)...100 for $4 or so, I think.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
