    Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! Car hire, nightmare!!!

Looking at the SUV rental, from San Fran to LAX, but quotes when using Budget, no matter who the 3rd party is, doesn't state if there is a 1 way fee or not..........
Any of u guys done 1 way rentals ? (I done them between LAX and LAS and never had any fee's........ but I read SFO loses cars due to peeps doing south travel road trips.......)

We arrived in Vegas on 3rd of August, I was quite apprehensive about getting a taxi and didn't have an Uber account. I asked the driver not to take me the highway to get to The Orleans, he said ok and I was having a bit of chit chat with him, we get to Tropicana and his radio squawked and he said that was us and that there was an accident on the junction of Tropicana and The Strip and that we had to divert. I had this earlier in the year when there was the shooting on the bus on the strip and I insisted the driver go Tropicana and surprise surprise no hold ups. I was caught on the hop this time and we went via Flamingo, I might have bought his story but for the way when we got near The Orleans he needlessly went back on Tropicana, just as we got on Tropicana his radio declared all clear, I knew then I had been long hauled, $31.01 He said I could tip him, I told him where to go.
You should have taken a photo of his permit. (Usually on the dashboard near the front seat.) Inhave reported drivers for going out of my way and got a full refund. I have also snapped a pic and said I was going to do it and got a reduced final fee. You can also ask the bell desk people to intervene if you feel you have been long hauled.

When we first arrive we usually use the airport wifi to book the Lyft or Uber. Stay where you have wifi until you have the car Reg and a pic of the driver. That's all you need.

Has anyone here had good or bad exepriencs at either The Cosmo or Vdara?

Cosmo - one good, one bad. August and a one bedroomed terrace fountain view both times. I am in my 30s. First time in 2014 and we absolutely loved it. The hotel is lively and attracts a younger crowd but the first trip, no problems. Last year we spent 10 nights there and vowed never again. Hideous, disgusting behaviour from many of the guests and nothing done by staff to control it, even on the casino floor. One Saturday I had 40 people evicted from the suite next door at 1.30am. Housekeeping told us the next day that they'd trashed it.

Currently at the Vdara (Vdara Suite) and loving it so far but only on the second night so can't really give a comprehensive review! A much more grown up vibe and the suite is nicer than the Cosmo one, IMO, though the view isn't a patch on the Cosmo fountain view.

  • Has anyone used any groupon vouchers?
I just changed my search to Las Vegas and have these otters (among others) I know sometimes groupon don't actually work out cheaper...
Flamingo Hotel - Paradise garden dinner buffet $85 for 4
Rio Hotel - Voodoo zip line for two $44

Seem to be quite a few food offers and a power pass.

There is a review of the Cosmo on Youtube that was posted very recently - about a week ago - and the guy absolutely slates it. He's called 'Spinning In Vegas' if you want to check it out. (There might be some profanity in it, I can't remember tbh, so it might be NSFW)

  • So after being told about MyVegas app on here last week I am up to 80,000 points (its been a quiet week in the office :P) with about 9 weeks left until we go so still time to get more.

What do people think are the best offers to go for with the points? I already have rooms booked and paid for so no need for those ones.

    Thanks

Also, any of u MLifers seen your new offers ? I got some nice ones, so handy choice for my 3 nights soon !!
Thinking of staying at the MGM, not stayed there before, so be nice to have something new...
Current offer is 3 nights Exec Suite (will need Queen) with $400 freeplay and $300 RC
However, if I recall, the Mlife Tier points get reset on the last day of September........ I check-in on the 1st Oct ! doh!!!!!

    hi
and thanks for the info in regards the mlife offer of comp nights- i haven't checked the offers in months!

We have stayed at the mgm in our previous 3 trips( i say previous
though we have only been to vegas 3 times !!)
We do like the mgm- i ve said previously its like our vegas home!

We stayed in a grand queen room, which is maybe a few steps down from an exec suite but the grand queen suited us, all we needed were beds ,a tv a bathroom-shower, what more do we need?

Dunno if it helps but if you are close to going upto the next level of Mlife can you book any of the shows or anything via Mife before the expire date , thus leveling you up?
We booked a couple of shows via Mlife and it helped us reach pearl- though we did gamble a bit every day.
    kind regards

Thanks for that, his review was the start of us reconsidering our booking. With his review and another recent Trip Advisor review both saying they had items stolen from there room I think is the icing on the cake we are going to switch to the Vdara.

Its a shame as the terrace view does look amazing but we will try the $20 trick and the newly wed angle to see if we can blag an upgrade :->

We got a steak dinner deal at Vince Neil's Tatuado Eat Drink Party at Circus Circus, its listed at $39 dollars but we had one of the emails for "up to 50% a deal" so got it for $19, at that aslong as the bottle of wine is good we cant lose :rotfl:
  • Following this, does anyone know if the Wolfgang Puck offers are on top of the hotel rewards. Staying in Mandalay Bay, and wondered if I could get an offer in Lupo as well as my other 4?
