Thanks my thanks button isn't working.

My MIL overcooks EVERYTHING, she was making me a boiled egg, which I like soft and after 5-6 mins I said 'that'll be done now' she said oh no give it another 10 miutes!:rotfl:

Well done on such a big loss taplady! I'm only a midget so need to lose a couple of stones!

I'll try cooked porridge tomorrow with apple and cinnamon. (Got tons of baking apples) the last time I did this it all curdled. I think I tried to cook it all together and should probably stir in the cooked apple afterwards.
I'll see if it makes a difference.
I must also be more organised, I work FT, and dash around each morning preparing families pack up's and sorting out clothes for the day. If all these things are prepared I'll have a more energetic start to the day...IFKWIM..I do anyway!
    I've updated my sig too!

Mind if I join the crowd? :D I can't be hassled with faddy diets anymore, simple rule to weight loss: burn more calories than you consume.

    Background:
27 yrs old, 5ft 10, currently weigh just over 12 stone (verging on tight size 14), want to weigh just over 10 stone (well fitting size 12). Got down to about 10 st 7 with Weight Watchers a couple of years back but put it all back on due to pizza & chocolate addictions (and more recently due to being properly in love & happy).

    Plan food-wise:
Swap junk food for lower fat alternatives, fromage frais in particular - really low fat & yummy! Dig out the old Weight Watchers recipe books & re-write my shopping list, I seemed to make a lot more from scratch & be a lot more creative when trying to cook low fat meals.

    Plan exercise-wise:
I'm a regular mountain biker & hill walker, but need to increase this (& not undo my good work with post-exercise fish n chips) so I aim to go for one mid-week bike ride and one long weekend ride or walk (OH and I only get Sunday together so it's either bike or walk usually), and I also plan to use the crosstrainer in my spare room at least 3 times a week building up to 20 minute sessions.

I'm hoping to lose my first stone by Christmas. This would mean an average loss of 1.5Lbs per week. Plausible?...

I work full time too - I do all the lunches while I'm waiting for dinner to cook ;) I'm in there checking the meal anyway so may as well prepare it all and pack it all in the fridge ready. As well as get the meat for the next day out of the freezer ;)

    Hi Cazzdevil

I hope it is, thats what I am aiming for too!
    :D

I know i can't do it without exercise so this will be my biggest challenge. I'm a member at the gym but do find it really hard because a) I work FT 2 kids 2 dogs and b)I really HATE it...but mainly B.
    Good luck..your plan looks good!:T

Newlywed..Thanks for this! I used to be super-organised too. It's not just my diet my whole life needs an overhaul.....Off to look at the Flylady stuff!

On second thoughts, I'd better do some work before someone notices I've sat at my desk all day doing nothing except a tesco.com delivery and posting here :shhh:

    catch ya later

I really hate gyms too and find them rather intimidating and boring. If it weren't for the mounain biking & walking I'd probably never get any exercise so I'm pleased I found a form of exercise I really enjoy!

Is there not a sport you enjoy doing? Maybe tennis or netball or kickboxing you could go to instead of the gym? Mind you, it's often easier to fit the gym in around your life than fit your life in around a class/group.

I used to do the very same until I discovered that in fact, veg tastes MUCH better when you cook it for the recommended amount of time. Funny that innit...

    Hi all,

Have been busier than usual to-day so have not thought about food...had porridge made in microwave with tbsp dried cranberries stirred through while cooking, sliced banana and tbsp honey and a little milk added to serve

Lunch: egg salad sandwich...2 slices bread, coffee
    stewed apple, no sugar.

Dinner: will be shepherds pie, lots of veggies, probably green salad...more stewed apple before the bl***y crows eat them all off the tree.

Have upped my water intake as it helps the digestive system no end

    Good luck to all

    Marie

  • Welcome jinny, cazzdevil and ellas J

I eat me porridge hot…if I’m allowed to before getting disturbed and it going all congealy cold L I like muesli but find I enjoy it more with natural yoghurt than cold milk, maybe you could try that with your oats, ellas ? Also, if you’re feeling headachy, make sure you keep up your water intake J And.. I don’t personally weigh right now, sorry :P as focussing on that would get me stressed. Clothes get looser, my body changes shape and I get less aches and pains, that’s good enough for me at the moment J

Feeling somewhat better although still prone to teary outbursts ( no its not pre TOTM ! ), trying to time those inbetween the contractors ringing on my door bell, asking for this that and the other, was a comedic choreography all its own. Did well, had hm brocolli soup with a handful of cheese, 1 slice rye toast, celery, tomatoes, handful of unsalted cashews and some orange juice for lunch. ( and a Crunchie mid afternoon which I don’t even feel guilty about ) Actually have had a slight energy upturn so am going to pop out to the launderette whilst heating up the hm cheese potatoe and onion pasty and beans for dinner J
