I've decided to lose a couple of dress sizes ready for my wedding in a years time. I've been on my new eating plan for the last 2 days. I find it a bit difficult as I can't eat fruit or too much wheat.
I have cut out all sugar in drinks and switched to sweeteners.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

Ifan - is it possible you're not actually eating enough (even if it seems like you are) and your body has gone into 'starvation mode'?0

Hi there sola
I was going to suggest the same....ifan... so sorry you aren't well, as much as a pain in the bum excess weight can be, you want to take really good care of yourself right now... i would be more concerned that you were getting enough nutrients...need to get you fighting fit again;) ...
Do you like salmon, avocados? they are full of really good fats..great for your hair and nails as well as helping cells heal..perhaps your body just nees a little while longer to "recover" from the major shock it has ben through.
Really sorry i can't be of more help:o .. hope you keep posting on here.. om sure we will all try to be as supportive and helpful as possible - and at least you won't be doing it on you own:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Ifan,
I think weight loss is all very well, but Mrs M and Sola are right, eating well and giving your body everything it needs is really important. My cousin suffered from cancer, primary and secondary, and her diet changed significantly after the secondary, in order to giver herself of beating the big C. She is fighting fit and a mother now (surrogacy), but is quite obsessed with her diet(life style).
You should have a look at some of the alternative health sites about what foods can help fight Cancer and other illnesses, then your body should be able to sort itself out.
I understand how frustrating it is not to lose weight when you appear to be doing everything right, I had Cushings Syndrome when i was younger and put on at least 3stone in a very short period of time, i then got ME and was immobile for 4 years. I have been well for 6 years now but still trying to get rid of the weight from over 10 years ago.
We are all going to have to work out what works for our individual bodies and it is great that no one seems to think their system will work for everyone. You are in the right place for moral support and if any of us can give more specific help we are more than willing to talk.
Take care

Got married on the 26th April 08!!!!!!!:j:T

1 sweet potato
1 leek
1 red pepper
2 cloves garlic
800ml stock
2 teaspoons paprika
I chopped the veg (you could fry it first if you wanted but I didn't bother), put everything in the crockpot, blended it after a couple of hours and adjusted the seasoning. Utterly lovely and filling. If the above makes 4 portions, I estimate each portion has around 70 calories in it, and it's fat-free.0 -

Unless you're talking Splenda or stevia, they have little connection with 'real' food, and if I recall correctly at least one (aspartame?) is believed to be carcinogenic.
