This doesn't mean sweets and chocotates!!!!
I have found an amazingly effective diet is to only eat raw vegetable. Probably sounds dull but:
cut them up into small coleslaw type pieces
add tomato sauce, low fat mayo, tomato puree and thai 7 spices.
Amazingly it is absolutely delicious and because the vegetables are raw it takes a lot longer to break them down so you don't feel hungry at all between meals.
I have cereal for breakfast and the rest of the day eat the above. That way I am having very little fat but still plenty of nutrition.
Adding chopped nuts and seeds or dried fruit varies the texture and taste.
Try it you won't be disappointed. It takes a little will power at first but once the weight starts dropping off and you feel less sluggish it will be easy peasy.

What about protein? You can't eat raw meat (unless you don't count pre-cooked food you buy) or pulses (except in a can where they have been cooked already)working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Good point! Plus it just sounds a bit too much like a d**t to me - I'll stick to OS healthy eating!0

Hi there
I know there are a lot of people who use the raw food..think its called a "whole food diet" or something similar.... but that is possibly the only one i have never even considered trying..woohoo a diet i haven't tried:D
As much as i love my raw veggies n salad...and have cereal for brekkie and generally something cold at lunch...but at this time of year if i only eat salads etc..i find i actually feel cold inside.. am i the only one.. sorry but for me..a nice Home cooked warm meal in an evening makes me feel full and content...but then again everyone is different and if it works for you purplefirth...stick with it...:D
Hi sola.... another one joining in :j welcome....:D you should have some fun on here.. never thought id say that about losing weight..... Good on hubby for joining in..makes life so much easier... my hubby eats what is put in front of him...hasn't given up the beer - god forbid  .. and has lost half a stone without trying....
Do you like philli... well the supermarket own ones? they are a lovely and rich so you don't need much and you can make them into sauces and i even use them on the base of pizzas instead of tomato puree.. then when you top them you need very little "cheese"..but you still have loads of flavour;) ... trying to think of ways to satisfy that cheese weakness....-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Thank you MrsM
Its really hard to find good cereal that doesnt contain a lot of sugar. My absolutely favourite breakfast before becoming diabetic was a small bowl of frosties with semi-skimmed milk and a banana sliced into it. I was able to eat it when I got up, and it appeared to be fine when I was losing weight.
The thing was, that prior to that I would NEVER have expected cornflakes to contain sugar! The diabetes really opened my eyes to hidden ingredients in food products
Hows about a banana chopped into your porridge? My dd is diabetic (age 5, bless), and this is always a favourite for her!0 -
My daughter was diagnosed at 10. And apparently not connected to my Type 2.
The thing is....I love porridge....but cannot bear it without sugar! I have decided I need to persevere with it because it is such a low GI thing but Im struggling!Live life like a labrador - just dont eat like my two!

That's where the nuts seeds, fruit and spices come in. They are full of protein. Check out www.highproteinfoods.netWhat goes around - comes around

The only way to reduce your weight is to change your mind set about food. I'm not suggesting you only eat raw food and never eat anything cooked again. Mearly saying its a great way to get the weight off which is what this thread is about. No-one has suggested this as a diet to me. Just something my father picked up on as a healthy alternative and it does seem to work so thought I would share. What goes around - comes around

A year ago I was diagnosed with cancer, and due to the drugs and inactivity during treatment I put on 2 1/2 stone - yeah I know everyone thinks you lose weight with cancer but don't you believe it
Anyway, I am now on Tamoxifen for the next 5 years, and I can't shift this extra weight at all. It doesn't matter if I starve myself or eat like a pig, nothing changes. Also, my exercise levels have increased vastly over the last 2 months and that seems to make no difference either  Having gone through an early menopause due to chemo I no longer feel the need to eat chocolate on a regular basis, and in fact hardly eat it now. Here's a sample day's food:
Breakfast - porridge made with water and a teaspoon of honey and a cup of herbal tea.
Lunch - Wholemeal bread sandwich with thin spread of organic butter and a slice of cooked meat, low calorie vegetable cup a soup, 1 or 2 pieces of fresh fruit.
Dinner - Small portion of lean meat, small portion of boiled or mashed potato (made with low calorie soft cheese instead of butter), 2 large portions of home grown veg.
No snacks, crisps, choc or alcohol.
I walk the dog at least a mile daily, and on weekends I walk further.
I really don't know what else I can do  The doc says that it is not the Tamoxifen, and that I must increase my exercise and be patient, but surely its not natural for your weight to remain constant for 9 months through all this turmoil? Has anyone been in a similar situation, and if so, how did you overcome it:question:0
