  • I really can't stress enough to all the professionals out there that bingeing on an addiction is total bulls****.

Whay do alcoholics/drug addicts go into rehab - to go cold turkey, they not sent down the pub are they not?

I really empathise with you about falling off the bandwagon..I know it's so hard. I haven't had a counsellor though cos I feel we know more in our hearts than they do..however I'm happy to spend money on my personal trainer and beauty therapists..so maybe i am a little hypocritical..you could argue this is therapy..lol.

have you tried thinking that it's a new lifestyle change instead of a diet..this has helped me.

I also think that maybe we need to address other issues in our life as to why the food is being used for comfort..

My parents split up and i was so upset i just turned to food and associated treats with comfort..However I was the only person shoving the food down my mouth so you could argue that I shouldn't blame my parents divorce..plenty of people's parents break up and they don't binge eat.

Do you exercise..this has helped starve off my depression...

I have been told that my eating is all down to things that happened as a child but I've never really bought that for the reasons that you gave. They say that a food addiction has to be treated differently to an alcohol or drug addiction as you HAVE to eat to live.

Forgive me being cynical , I really hate that in a person , but I was as possitive as you 2 years ago and I vowed NEVER to be that weight again. I have been 20ish st and lost it 3 TIMES and each time said "never again" yet here I am! Would not be shocked to put it all on again oneday:confused: .

Never mind onwards and upwards feeling possitive today so that's all that counts.:T

    I've been Money Tipped!
I have found that, since having toast with chocolate spread in the morning for breakfast, I have not craved chocolate at all during the day or evening ... I suppose there's some weight loss in there somewhere ...
    That's Numberwang!
  • Frogga, you're not going to " put it all on again "... because this time it really is going to be a lifestyle change and the last 3x times you lost 9st and then regained it , you didn't have us lot poking you with a big stick ;)

    Where is everyone :confused::p ..

    Morning all :D

Well, crawled out of bed feeling like the proverbial "bag of s**t tied in the middle" Still the plus side.... i can't get about much so im sat on my bum resting my leg..but since i have go seriously painful teeth..well the whole jaw actually..it means im not sat eating through bordome..it hurts too much :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: im having to shove 2 co-codamol down my neck every 4 hours to try and make it managable..

So, its weigh day tomorrow.. but im not expecting miracles... and whatever the result im not going to be upset...afterall "these things happen"... and at least i can say i haven't eaten any junk... Have been fetching HM meals out of the freezer... and have finally realised that this OS.. is a life long way of eating.. so 1 week isn't going to do any harm:T

    Anyway...how is everyone?

Noticed yesterday, several people expecting a hard day..what with eating out, buffets at work and OH doing the cooking :p .. hope you all got through ok :T

Helloooo to anyone who joined the fun yesterday..

Im amazed by the amount of folks with eating disorders... i was watching womens golf yesterday (yes i was THAT bored;) )...anyway there was a young woman on there who had decided to "come out" about her Bulimia after realising that out of every 10 women from 13-27 i think it was.... 7 have admitted to having an eating disorder:eek: ...i was so shocked!! Its a terrifying statistic....

    Well i will have a yoghurt later..takes no chewing :p ...
and dinner tonight will be roast chicken, potatoes for hubby and veggies... will take ages to get it down..but its one of my faves...so i will struggle through:p

Hope you all have a good day...:D

Well todays recipe is one for those wanting a take away :D

    CHINESE BARBECUE PORK serves 6
    per serving-
    225 cals
    2g fat
    25g carb
    1g dietry fibre
    60mg chol
Oh and anyone WW old style its 3.5 points ;)

    60ml / 2floz tomato sauce
    1tbsp hoisin sauce
    2tbsp honey
    1tbsp malt extract or molasses
    1tbsp chopped garlic
    2tbsp caster sugar
    1tsp chinese 5 spice powder
    2tsp cornflour
    1tbsp water
    750g pork neck or fillet

Combine all these ingredients in a small pan
Dissolve the cornflour in the water
stir into the pan, bring to the boil, then reduce to simmer and stir for 2 mins..
    Allow to cool
If using kneck cut in half length ways... no need to bother if using fillets
place the meat in the sauce, turning to coat..cover and place in fridge for at least 30 mins ( i leave it overnight)

    Pre-heat the oven to 210c/415f/gas 6-7
Lift the pork from the marinade with a slotted spoon..place on a rack over a roasting tin -half filled with boiling water
    cook for 15 mins
reduce the heat to 180c/350f/gas4 and cook for a further 15 mins..basting occasionally with the left over marinade
remove from oven and leave to stand for 5 mins before slicing

If you want to save money/cals you can always use less pork and when cooked mix it through a stirfry, noodles etc

Morning, since it's such a lovely day her today, I'm going to sort out the garden...well that's a bit of an exageration, it's a postage stamp size bit of grass and a border down the side of the path.
    Food today will be...
Ready brek....i look lovely with the *glow*
Jacket Potato for lunch for me..sandwiches for OH
Steak pie, potatoes, carrot and swede mash and cauli cheese for Mr & Miss Twit's dinner.
I will probably have veggies and mash.

I will get back into this SW eating idea.

    Have a great day everyone.
This is a great thread, with some very honest revelations about both weight and eating habits. As some posters have said, it's time for a new lifestyle, we say the word diet and everything changes. How many of us, when we are dieting have a small portion of this, and a little bit of that... we instantly feel deprived. Portion control is the key, but I feel that cutting down too much too quickly leaves us feeling hungry and more likely to scoff what we shouldn't.

On that cheeful note, I will go and sort out the wilderness.

  • Poor MrsM, you are having a rotten time poor petal ! - *sends you a hug for all the achy bits* and yes you are very right about the OS being lifelong... I've been getting the same feeling of " oh, one or two meals or one off day isn't a disaster... because this is for the rest of my life and there's no " sell by " date on it " and I feel MUCH more relaxed about it all then :) Whatatwit ( heh, I feel so unmnannerly typing that, mind if we call you Whata ? ;) ) your day's food sounds delicious !

Am doing quite well today so far, have only just managed to get a bowl of special k down me neck an hour ago due to hectic work day. Off duty now and planning to hop back and forth to the launderette and shops - so thats a bit of exercise and also I need to restock on some foods. Don't have a plan for later but it will involve salad and possibly soup from the freezer.

Another benefit of OS healthier eating... used to suffer really badly from indigestion, was getting through a bottle of Gaviscon a week... only need to use it once or twice every couple of days now ! hooray !
