    Hi there Toonie

I didn't know they still did the raisin n biscuit yorkie... i used to love them. 1 choccie bar won't have done any damage...so keep up the good work:D

Amazing how late the benefit folks can be isn't it..yet im sure if you were late there would have been hell to pay:confused:

OAT CRUSTED CHICKEN WITH SAGE -serves 4

    3tbsp skimmed milk
    2tsp english mustard
    40g rolled oats
    3tbsp chopped sage leaves
8 chicken theighs or drumsticks - skinned
    115g low fat fromage frais
    1tsp wholegrain mustard
    seasoning

    Pre-heat the oven to 200c/400f/gas6
    1. mix the milk with the english mustard
    2. mix the oats with 2tbsp of sage and the seasoning on a plate
    3. brush the chicken with the milk/mustard mix
    4. press onto the oats to coat evenly
    5. place on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for about 40 mins or until the juices run clear
    6. meanwhile, mix the fromage frais, mustard, remaining sage and seasoning and serve with the chicken
if you have no fresh sage..swap for fresh thyme etc - rather than a dried
    herb

    Thanks MrsM and frogga :)

I also resisted urge to have burger king for dinner...decided on omelette instead and as I've only made it once before it turned out more like giant scrambled eggs but was nice anyway.

Think its about time to have my dessert, mandarins here I come :)

LOL. Frogga, you sound like me....not keen on sage, positively dislike garlic. I tend to adjust recipes around what I do like, whilst occasionally throwing in a little of what I'm not keen on, just to see what its like.

Oh, the mandarins were lovely and I've half the tin left for breakfast tomorrow, along with a banana and some grapes.

Ooo that's easy................ well , you know I'm vegan so I wont eat anything that once had a face , or any of it's by products. Don't like herbs or garlic or beetroot. Like most veg but probably haven't tried as much as you guys as Frogs are not very sophisticated. Like most fruit but not the berry ones..........................em that's about it really..................and I like seedy bread , but then you know that already:T . I don't like new things and I like to have the same things to eat everyday because I don't do change. ( don't tell Oddsy coz she'll get cross and tell me off!)

Frogga - we dont do garlic in this house either - DH absolutely hates it, I'm not keen but I do love garlic bread!;)

    bye for now!
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • LOL Frogga, I was going to say " use other herbs if you don't like sage " but you don't like herbs at all ? o deary me, whatever are we gonna do with you !! I dunno, maybe use a handful of finely chopped watercress instead ?

MrsM, well done with the stabbing, hope your leg heals up soon :) thanks for the lovely recipes, I love using oatmeal in savoury recipes so I'll definitely be giving the chicken a try ( with SAGE from my garden :D ) My freezer is half stuff I've made up and half stuff like frozen peas, quorn pieces and odds and sods of bread etc, plus a bit of ice cream ( which funnily enough I never feel the urge to binge on ! ) Oh and a packet of scampi :p I think I'll use that up soon ! good idea about the list of stuff... think I'll write one out and stick it on the freezer itself.

Welcome Amanda/djtonyb, hope the thread is helpful to you ! and well done everyone else, Toonie, that really doesn't sound like an off day to me, one yorkie bar does not a disaster make !

I had a great day out, basically set off with no idea where we wanted to go and meandered happily all over West Sussex. Visited Bignor Villa for the first time in years and ended up taking some very pleasant brisk walks along Littlehampton and Bognor seafronts. Very late breakfast was at Bignor, the tiny tearoom had a very limited choice of items ( nothing healthy or even savoury at all ) so chose carrot cake as being the least damaging ! same with Bognor for late lunch - sweet FA all open on a damp October Tuesday apart from chip shops and seafront tea stalls. Had egg and chips, ended up leaving half the chips :o - they were very nice and ungreasy but there were far too many ! felt bad about wasting food but better than overeating. Supper will be fruit and cheese I think.

I don't feel guilty at all about some relatively unhealthy eating today. I had plenty of exercise and the feeling of wellbeing I got from having a nice day out outweighs ( if you'll pardon the pun ) any likely detrimental effect from the cake and chips !
