Happy birthday tadpole1! :bdaycake: Its my sister bday as well today. Shes 19 but she a big kid so i'm decorating the house for her and we're playing party games when everyones home from work so just popping in quickly before I go and do that.

Slowly getting back on track. The chocolate and biscuits are still going but I'm only nibbling at one now and again rather than scoffing the lot. Actually getting sick of sweet stuff at the minute  Walked up to the bus stop today then the bus was 20 minutes late so burnt a few cals shivering at the bus stop then speedy walking to the job centre cos I was late. Met up with a friend on her lunch break but I only had fruit scone and then made myself some brocolli and stilton soup when I got in. We're have take away for tea tonight (bday treat for sis) so I'll try and pick something healthy for me. I'm considering treating myself to the dirty dancing workout dvd at the weekend as it looks fun and I love that film!

Right, off to put up birthday banner and balloons now. Have good day everyone :D

Hope the Tadpole's birthday goes swimmingly:D And a Very Happy Birthday from the Mumma Mansion too!

Been ....have I read it somewhere, or did I dream it, that you can mix sliced beetroot into eg red cabbage & serve as either a hot or cold side dish? Not tried it meself but just may do cuz the offspring are beginning to get a little more adventurous with their taste-buds:T

Also that piece about cooler bedrooms.....the offspring [again:cool: ] are moaning like mad cuz I've still got my bedroom windows open, & went around the house turning all the rad thermostats down or off completely:p Putting on a few extra layers is a darn sight cheaper than heating a place, & a whole lot healthier IMHO:o I can't believe how some people can live in the heat they have their homes now........

Lecture over....today we are having roast chicken--curtesy of Mr T 2-4-£5--with the sliced onion & spud dish, served with steamed sprouts & carrots. Best go do the spuds then:o

You can indeed do reetboot with red cabbage, and sneak in red onions too and a bit of grated apple to sweeten it up if it helps get it down the kids ;) you kind of braise it..can dig you out a recipe if you need one.. i have done it for xmas dinner a few times.

Im with you on the window front too... i can't sleep with my windows closed -i don't care what the weather is doing..i need fresh air. Luckily hubby hates being warm too so our heating is either on very low or off..and hubby still only wears a pair of shorts when he is in the house :rotfl: and occasionally puts a tee shirt on
