Here you are MrsM, I did a search and found a link to one. (I didn't buy it from this company, tho. I only paid £15 something all told.

The colours are far more vibrant, the books just leap off the fabric with their rich golds and ruby reds. It even has sparkly threads in it which are beautiful.
This is my first real cross stitch, I normally do knitting and rug making, but I can't wait to do another. I've even picked the next one.

DS1 says he's more than happy to treat me to one in exchange for not having to do a job for one of my 7lb loses. Could be worth it I think.
Made Mary Berry's anzac biscuits (foolproof cakes book) as a treat for DS1 completing his first day on his new job with his dad. I'm taking her book back to the library before it causes anymore trouble.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

You are on the slippy slope now.... x-stitch addiction is very hard to treat you know
I recognise the one that you are doing, and the mess maker 1 too... they have some lovely colours in too :T
I usually go for DMC threads as they are lovely to work with... the dimensions kit im working on has their own thread brand and they are being little s*ds... trying to tangle
I even have hubby x stitching.. hes good at it too, but gets wound up as i can talk, sew and watch telly at the same time and i keep distracting him :rotfl:
Its a great hobby to stop the evening munchies....

I HAVE to rid myself of at least 2 stone, preferably 3.. but one will be a start.. 1lb that is, not 1 stone!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Well had good intentions today but got to work and found that some of the chocs we had been given as a team had not all been polished off during the xmas break as I hoped they would have been. However we made a concious effort to finish them today and then that was them - valient efforts all round and glad to say they are all gone:D
so food for today was
Breakfast: slice of toast with one tsp of peanut butter
snack: Satsuma
Lunch: two coronation chicken sandwiches (home made coronation chicken made with leftovers from yesterdays lunch)
Dinner: Quorn chilli and rice
extras: too many chocs but I am not going to beat myself up about that as it was a means to an end
Tomorrow I am planning:
Breakfast: Fruit and fibre
snack: Satsuma
lunch: baked potato and cheese, salad
dinner: Sausage caserole, mash and veg
extras: no, no, no!!!
Frogga the news about the lady you spoke about made me really think about my weight as heart conditions run in our family and whilst I am aware of that and the effect my weight has on my health its horrid to think about that happening to someone 6 years younger. My heart really goes out to to her family.0 -

I don't think I want to be cured from this particular addiction because it's keeping me away from the kitchen. I get so absorbed by it that I don't have to worry too much about the night time horrors of snacking.
Got me wondering about the threads now. Every so often I wonder why its not pulling through and when I look at the back of my work I've a nasty little tangled knot that I have to work away at to undo. Can't see my DH joining in, although thinking about it, he did do work on all my rugs with me, so never know. :rolleyes:MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

B: cornflakes
L: spicy parsnip soup (not HM but never mind) and oatcakes (from the Walkers (as in shortbread) hamper I am trying to not go mad with .....)thai green curry leftover from dinner party at weekend, and rice
Also had a couple of chips and a fishfinger when kids had their tea - oops naughty! And 2 mini muffins with my coffee tonight.
But have also done swimming with DD1, and pushed a trolley with DDs1and2 and a load of shopping round Asda, and done a ton of ironing!!!
Oh and 5 breastfeeds so that should have worked off the fishfinger at least :rotfl:

Ok - first of all I am very sorry for the earlier post - don't know what came over me.
Hopefully my new meds will calm me down!
Anyway.... I walked to the doctors and back (half hour each way) when home I fed dogs and then walked bak to town to get bus to go to a friends for tea (no time for lunch) I missed the bus I needed so rather than wait an hour for the next one got the next one that went to that town and walked the 40 minute walk to hers, then we walked 20 minutes to the shopping centre.
So that mihgt have helped out a bit.
She made tea which was jacket potatoe with chilli and salad. BUT she had a desert! profiteroles.
I also managed a few glasses of wine.
Bah I just have no self control!
It's terrible actually seeing it written down. What I eat and drink that is.
Hopefully it will shame me into doing better!
Tomorrow is another day.
*sigh*
Thank you everyone for listening and for being nice to meDream of being mortgage free....

Hi everyone, I have skim read some of the storied people posted but have run out of time again tonight! The thanks buttin isnt working for me but I did want to say thanks to everyone who's put on their stories, its lovely to read everyone's journeys so far.
Caterina - you have led a slightly parallel life to mine but substitute NIreland for Italy and instead of twins have 3 babies close together!! You said "as I grew I was made to feel ugly and fat by my family - when I look at the pictures I wonder why, as I never was fat at all" - this is so true of me. I was brought up by a very critical mother who used to drag me round shops trying to get clothes for me saying to shop assistants "nothing ever fits her she's so fat" or similar, or telling me I looked pregnant when I was 8 or so !!! I left home at 18 to go to Uni in Scotland still believing I was fat. I look back at pictures of me and I was no beanpole but I was anything but fat. I was a brilliant shape and would love to be anywhere near that again!!!
I married my then boyfriend and it wasnt a happy marriage and I ate a lot for comfort. During that marriage I did go to a slimming club and got down to about 10 stone. I have no idea what I had been. I went from a size 16 down to a 12.
We then moved to England where I had got a great job offer and the weight started to slowly creep back on. Very very very slowly. Marriage fell apart, met new bloke, thought I was fat again - look back at those pictures and god I looked good! What was I thinking!
Anyway afterf 2 years of seeing blokey, whilst trying to get divorced, the weight was still creeping up so I joined WW for first time. No success whatsoever.
All this time weight creeping up slowly slowly. Divorce came through, blokey propsed and we got engaged. Re joined WW with a vengenace to lose the weight befoe the wedding. Bis success, weight off, dress was amazing etc etc.
Went on honeymoon, came back pregnant!! Woo hoo license to eat.
Baby born. Oh. Weight doesnt just drop off then. Even with breastfeeding like they said it would. Remained a stone and a half over the 10 stone I had got down to (again).
Got pregnant with number 2 when number 1 was 9 months. Woo hoo license to eat again.
Number 2 born, she was rubbish at breastfeeding so I started WW in earnest and it was mega successful. Lost 3 stone in 6 months by the August and I looked great. Everything fine til Christmas then it went a bit wrong and slowly a stone crept back on. Amazing how much difference to how your clothes fit (ie they don't) one stone can make.
Anyway that stone stayed there for over a year when I fell pregnant with number 3.
Well you would think I would know by now but - you guesed it - woo hoo license to eat. This time I was very very sicj for the first half so I think I really thought I wouldnt gain that much weight in the second half but it went crazy.
I rejoined WW (YET again) in November and weighed in at 14 stone 2.
At my last weigh in I was 13 stone 9 but that was in early December and I havent been weighed since sue to holidays, school plays etc.
The baby is still only 3 1/2 months old, the older two are 4 1/2 and 3, so I am required for the getting of drinks, food, toys, pens, paper, dvds etc etc constantly. If I'm not trying to stay on top of housework or feeding the baby, then I am doing something for one of the other two that they can't do for themselves. It seems to never end.
Anyway I am hopefully quite aware by now of what works for me and what doesn't so in theory I should be able to avoid my previous mistakes!
Good luck everyone, hope 2008 is happy and succesful for allJan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

Hi all,
So we are baring our souls are we...ok here goes:
62 year old mother of seven ( 4dds, 3dss,ages ranging from 37 to 26) grandmother to four, 2 dgss, 2dgds, gc number five due early Feb. Retired last year from civil service, married to OH for almost 38 years. Now meant to be doing my family history, sorting my garden to provide more colour and veggies.
Was a ten and a half pound baby, and have probably overeaten for most of my life, both my parents were big eaters, finishing what was on your plate and looking for more was always good...my mother was a good cook and constantly baked. Was probably not overweight as a teenager but was very active, and was about nine stone ( 5ft 3ins) until my first pregnancy...was constantly sick and put on only 4 lbs, so looked like a scarecrow after DD1's birth. Over the years I put on a little more weight every year and levelled out at around 12 stone in my late thirties, where I more or less stayed until 2002 when I finally won the battle with nicotine...am now 14st 5 lbs and need to do something as I am sick of not being able to buy clothes that I like and know that I am slower than I want to be...going on a six/seven week trip to Australia in May/June so would like to be a little fitter to make that easier and therefore more enjoyable.
Never thought of freezing the cake, will do it in single slices tomorrow and then will be able to produce some for visitors if I like...thanks to the peeps who suggested it. Have lots of cheeses too, but will overcome that one by making dinners which can use some up...everybody likes cheese here. Will freeze some though as there is a huge amount!
Frogga...sorry to hear of that lady's sudden death...happens all the time unfortunately but can be a huge shock when you know the person, however slightly.
Good luck to all you ladies...and Orpheus, together we can win this war, not just an occasional battle
