Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, as I said I am not beginning full-on until feb. 1st but am using this time to study recipes and prepare myself. Am actually looking forward to it, every morning I feel so sluggish with no energy at all, would really like to change.

Hi, all - newbie here too! I'm 36, a tiny 4'11" but a rather large 10.5 stones - eek! I was a very skinny child/teenager, but started putting on weight when I graduated and got my first job - in sales, which was very stressful and where I was expected to go drinking every night. Got bigger again when my parents died a few years ago, so in the past year I have overhauled my life - downsized my job, went travelling, got my BF to move out (I discovered I can't live with him, however much I love him!) 2008 is the year to overhaul my finances, lose weightand get fit, so OS & DFW are going to be my lifelines! Organised my weekly meal plan so no excuses for buying more food, this is todays:

B - a boiled egg and a slice of wholewheat toast
L - tomato soup & a slice of wholewheat bread
    S - 2 peices of fruit
D - mini vegetable quiche & spinach salad with balsamic dressing

    1 litre water to drink

    walked/jogged 45 minutes this morning

So all in all a good start.

Well, another newbie joining the thread - I've just been to weigh myself and I am a whopping (for me) 11stone 10lbs! I've been on medication for the last 12 months which has seen me rise from my 'normal' 10st-ish to nearly 12 stone and something has to be done about it. Am gradually coming off the meds now and so am looking to start shifting some of the weight.

I'm still a bit in shock actually - the last time I weighed this much was 13 years ago when I was pregnant with the nipper.

Well what do you know... have been so good and left to walk to the shops for lunch and it started peeing down. Soaked by the time I got to Boots, they didn't have the deo OH wanted to had to go further, to Mr T. And then in Mr T what jumped into my basket when I wasn't looking? Two bags of tooty frooties and two packs of Mr Kipling Delightful (light) cakes ;) Choc chip one is quite pleasant but not so nice that you want to eat the whole 6 slices :D

Hi MrsMC, see that you seem to have had the same bug as we did...dreadful isn't it.

Haven't been very good food wise, was 14st 5lbs on Friday so am trying to be better this week, I wish that all the 'nice' stuff from Christmas had disappeared...still half of Grannybroon's lovely Dundee cake left, I have been trying to keep away from it, and praying for visitors with sweet teeth(!)

Very cold here, hoping to get back to some kind of normal this week

    Hope that all are well

Can you slice it and freeze it? At least it won't be calling to you quite so loudly from the freezer ;)

    PHEWWWWW

Ok i have now sat here and caught up with the ins n outs i have missed :A

Cheerfulness... you got my attention :D .... what is the x stitch of? im a x stitch addict :D -even i don't try and eat when im doing that :p ... I have just started a dimensions gold collection one called "in her garden" its for my mum for xmas..and its gorgeous -although one of those where every square is stitched.... so i need to get a crack on :rotfl:

Well it was great to read everyones "profiles"...so, not liking to be missed out here is mine :D

Im 36 -only just mind :p ... The youngest of 5 -always fed proper home made meals, fresh baked bread, crumbles etc and have never lost that love of HM food :p
I have been married for 5 years... and can't even blame my weight on having children  as we have none yet -which as some of you know is one of my main incentives... as at the moment it just isn't happening for us.. no reasons... just "1 of those things" but HEY HO worse things happen ;) -
Taking my sis for chemo the other day bought it home to me... sitting there watching her go through that and seeing some youngsters doing it too... if all i have to face is being married to my lovely hubby but without children i reckon i will be getting off lightly

I started dieting when i was about 14 and I have been battling ever since -so this time its a life long thing.. and its working -so far... still need to shift about 6 1/2 st but we will get there..with you wonderfull lot :T

Well i popped out this morning and used some of the contents of my change pots to open up a savings account-i gave €100 to hubby to save him going into his bank account this month and the remaining €45 im going to use for more pots/compost etc so i can grow even more veggies this year... so €250 opened my account:j and hubby gave me €400 for the food shopping and as i had decided to come in at no more than €200 this month the other €200 was used to open up a current account :T im really chuffed that in about 5 months i had stashed €395 .... and now im going to save like a demon.. and best of all my savings account comes with a proper paying in book :j my UK account didn't -god im easily pleased:rotfl:

Well enough rambling..had better get off and do dinner.. we are having home boiled gammon (stock making soup) salad and potatoes... there is a fresh loaf of bread cooling...will resist..even though i have butter out of the fridge just waiting to be used :rotfl: ... my loaf now comes in at under 20p a loaf :T

right im going now... will do dinner in a while but must get x stitching done...and then knitting later -still keeps my head out of the fridge :rotfl:
