    Hi All,
Just thought I should reply to Tapylady's post as it has struck a chord with me.
I had abnormal smears for 4 years on and off , gave up smoking , still abnormal so had all available trreatments , still abnormal . Eventually opted for a hysterectomy 2yrs ago , as I was 36 and daughter was 17 and I didn't want any more children.

    Thanks moonpixiewitch:T

This has been going on since I was pregnant with DS2 who is now 15. I had one lot of treatment and was ok for a few years them it came back and I had some of my cervix removed and was ok for a bit but now it looks like its back.I think eventually I will end up with the big op too, but I'm not planning any more kids like you either. Just wish the appointment would hurry up to put me out of my misery:rolleyes:

I have really enjoyed reading all your stories, like Frogga I am nosey:D

    Hi All,

Here's my story. I am only 5 foot tall and weighed 7st 11 when I got married in 1980 - in a size 6 wedding dress. I am now aged 49 (50 this year) and weighed 11 st 8 on the 1st January. I split up with my husband 2 and a half years ago, just before our 26th wedding anniversary although we still remain friends. I met my new partner last year and put on over a stone since I met him as he wanted to spoil me with chocolates etc when we first got together. However, I have decided enough is enough and don't want to buy any more size 14s - although I am realistic to know I won't ever shrink to a size 6/8 again. I would like to get down to around 9 and a half or even 9 stone though.

In February last year, I took the radical step of giving up my part time teaching job and we started spending the winters in Spain. I have a job as an internet researcher so can work anywhere, although we have downsized so that neither of us needs to work full time. I intend to get lots of exercise walking on the beach every day and hope to have lost around 2 stone by the time we come back at the end of April. We've been home for Christmas but return on Wednesday.

I've had a good day today so far - muesli for breakfast and another bowl of cereal for lunch. My son, daughter and son's partner are coming round for a meal later which will be roast chicken, home made stuffing, yorkshire puddings, roasted vegetables, roast potatoes, broccoli and peas but I intend to mainly fill my plate with the veggies. The freezer and fridge have been almost emptied now ready for leaving.

Hiya :hello: Good idea to do a recap Frogga. I'm 57  and a teaching support technician at a university. I'm 5'6", weigh 11st 8lbs and would like to be 10and a half stones or ideally 10st :rotfl: I put my weight on during pregnancy - 14stone with both kids, lost it with the 'help' of appetite suppressants after the first but won't go there again! I've been down to 9stone with both SW and WW but I'm far too thin at that and I yoyo back really quickly as I really like my food :D I also have emotional eating problems due to low self-esteem having had most of it knocked out of me during a very turbulent relationship - now over but the problems are still there :mad:Anyway, I've had a bad couple of days but I think I'm organised for going back to work tomorrow and starting to eat healthily again, lots of fruit and stuff in the fridge and the way OH is demolishing the christmas cake that should be gone tomorrow! Going back to work means I get a lot of exercise - walking, lunchtime swims and dance classes - our uni likes it's staff to be healthy and we get loads of subsidised classes  I also get to post on a decent 'puter so can do proper smilies and thank people!! See you tomorrow girls :A

Realistically I expect to 'fail' many times in this attempt but I have to keep trying and not give up altogether.

That's the key, isn't it? not giving up even if you trip and fall a few times. When I lost my first 3 stone a while back I was 25.5 stone and then I stopped for some unknown reason. I think I was managing to do the things (like walking) that I couldn't do when I was that bit heavier so didn't have the same need.
It was quite a while before I took the next 2 stone off, and then I ignored all the things I had previously learnt and on it went again. Still, I've even learnt from that. Now I'm ready for the next stage. As long as I keep chipping it away and never giving up, I feel like I'm winning.

And I agree about the need to support each other. The only times I've lost weight is when I've had support from others, usually online and my DH and kids. :)

I love this thread and its great to get to know you :T
I'm 46:eek: How did that happen?
and like you I'm sure, I too am a curvy veritable Sex Goddess:D
Was married for 25 years during which time I accumulated three gorgeous girls 16,18,21 (expensive year last year) and three stone.
I work full time after 20 odd years as a SAHM and enjoy it very much.

Would like to lose two of the three stone so that my muffin top is controllable as it has a mind of its own at the moment:o

What a lot of interesting posts, thanks for sharing everyone :T

I have a feeling that this year is going to be our year! I think we should all make a date to post our "before" and "after" pictures. How about January 1st 2009? That gives even the most porkiest of us a fighting chance to get it all off!:D

Any one else willing to tell all? Come on , don't be shy, we've all been there/done that and we are completely non judgemental because we are all as potty as the next man! I bet there is nothing any one could say that would shock me , I've done it all before, I'm unshockable ;)

Ok! I'm an irregular poster on here - largely because I don't often have time during the week to do much posting. Age: 59 in 11 days time, primary headteacher, hoping to retire next December and have a much less stressful more OS lifestyle. Hysterectomy 13 years ago, since when I've gained more than 3 stone. My doctor reckons it's pure coincidence, but there's an awful lot of women just like me! I'm 5 foot 8, so don't look as large as I actually am. Anyway, I'd like to lose at least three stone as the extra weight certainly doesn't help my asthma. Have got off to a good start this year, and actually weigh less than at any point in 2007! Can't be doing with diets as can't stick to them - so am concentrating on smaller portions of proper food, and trying to up my veg and fruit intake.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!

    HI

Joined this thread on 2nd Jan as part of my new year new me before I am 40 plan:rotfl: So this is me:

39 years old, recent single mum to a lovely three year old boy. Bought my new scales on Thursday and weigh 15 stone aaarggggh. However I have not put on any weight over xmas so thats at least something. Would like to lose 6 stone overall but realise that this will probably not be doable this year alone.

Have tried many diets in the past few years some successful and getting the weight off and some not so. Given my new circumstances I can't afford to join a commercial club so am joining this for support and advice. I am hoping this will help me as although I am good at making homemade food I do rely on packets and ready sauces most of which contain hidden sugars etc, so hoping for some recipie tips as well.

Am going to start some exercising at home (again can't afford to join a gym or anything) and have borrowed some keep fit dvd's from friends and family to see what might suit me - figure I will give each 2-3 weeks trial and see what feels best.

anyway hope 2008 is a good year for all. M xxx

Thats SO funny , I could have written it meself!:rotfl: Welcome to more newbys, the more the merrier :T Anyone else reading and not posting don't be such a chicken and join in!:D

I found this thread about a month ago. I have been on MSE for some time, but have spent most of my time over at Debt Free Wannabe sorting out my debts.

I have been watching and reading this thread for a month and have been reading the back pages - for weeks now!! However, I have kept quiet and lurked in the background looking and learning - because I am a bloke, and although I am far from sure, y'all seem to be non-blokes?? ( I am trying to find a non-offensive way of saying ladies/girls etc etc.......)

I have to say that it lovely over here. You guys (not!!:rotfl: ) are so friendly and supportive to each other, I am bowled over some times.

I am fearful that the moderators may chop this post a bit because I have a lot to say, but anyway, inspired by Frogga's challenge above "don't be such a chicken and join in!" I have decided to post anyway.

I am 40 and have ended up single AGAIN, somewhat surprisingly. I am now living alone and have need to lose about 3 - 3 1/2 stone. I have always had trouble with my wieght, my Mum is obsessed by her weight and has been on a diet as long as I can remember, but always compensated by (over)feeding us kids (very well- always from scratch, but very generously) My brothers also struggle with weight/food issues.

I just wanted to say that you are all great and I have been quietly following advice/tips. I just wanted to say a Hi to three people who's posts I have most identified with:

Frogga - I too have a history of bingeing. I though you were SO brave to post that incident where you ended up in hospital from overeating - thanks. I have tried everything to stop years of bingeing for emotional reasons, I joined Overeaters Anonymous (I think I'm not supposed to say that, but it really did not work out for me) and have been in therapy for 10 years..

Mrs M - I trained and worked as a chef and love my own cooking and am a total foodie, I also lived in Germany when I was training and did patissier/choclatier training in Germany/France/Switzerland and so have some terrible skills at making killer puds....Eek.

And finally Recovering Spendaholic - I find your courage and bravery inspirational. I am just single and only have to worry about keeping myself afloat on my own, let alone two kids. You are doing great!

SO, I have been looking at this now for about an hour and am now going to take the plunge and post it - Eek:eek:

    Cheers - Orph
