I also have an OH like that. He goes out for a paper and comes back with Turkish Delight or Frys Chocolate Cream bars which he knows I really can't resist. Personally I think it's just so he doesn't feel guilty about the Yorkie he buys for himself ....:rotfl:
OH & DS1 & DS2 are all lean and fit without an ounce of spare fat, so I find it a real struggle being the only dieter in the family. Still, as we all eat the same at least it proves that it's not just my cooking to blame for my weight!
Anyway, back to the incentives - if there is no spare cash, and your OH is supportive, why not ask him to put a free treat voucher in the jar for you each week - he could give you promises of a foot massage, a long uninterupted wallow in the bath, breakfast in bed, clearing out the shed, etc. If the rest of your family are also supportive maybe they could contribute the odd treat too. Then each time you lose half a stone you can have a week of pampering.:DOh dear, here we go again.0 -
Evening ladies :hello: What a lot of posts and what a lot of newbies  We've been out for the day so I'll not say what I've eaten  back on track on Tuesday.Freezer is full to bursting, I've picked up loads of whoopsed items over the last few day so hopefully will only have to buy milk and veggies. We've been to the mill today and stocked up on flour for bread.JojoB - been there with the ice cream, I thought I had hypothermia
Veggie shepherds pie is nice with a savoury scone topping or polenta sprinkled with a bit of cheese.See you tomorrow girls :A

One of the good tips I was given when I was dieting was to cook soup without frying the veg first. I've always started my soups with a fried onion etc, but if I'm really watching the weight, I start off with the stock in the pan first, add all the veg in with a few extra herbs for taste and then cook as normal until veg are soft enough to whizz up. Saves on a bit of fat going into the system and takes less attention at the stove!
As I virtually live on soup for lunch, this was a big help.Striving down south to stay northern and tight! :rotfl:0 -
Hi all
Just a couple of things before my news:
Jojo, I shall be soaking some of my aduki beans tonight, you really made me want to make that shepherds pie, thank you!
Cratfybear (and other slimmers who do not use oil in the vegetables): a dietician once told me that it is important to use a little oil (a tbsp max. is sufficient) with veg because a lot of veg contain fat soluble vitamins (I think A and D, not sure) and if you do not use fat with them you just will pee them away, instead the oil absorbs them and they get into the system.
OK now for my news:
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Been at two tea-parties and ate a lot of cakes and mince pies. Feeling dissatisfied about it but also forgiving myself because it is not everyday that I do it - but knowing that it has set me back a bit.
Rest of the day was ok:
Breakfast: dry-fried egg, HM tomato, onion and pepper salsa (with small drizzle oil), potato slices (parboiled, sprayed with frylight and baked in oven), spoonful of quark cheese
Lunch: 1 slice Stollen cake (ouch! Really got to carry oatcakes in my bag - was at a friend and feeling low in blood sugar again!).
Snack before tea party: small piece of cheese, 1 packet Sainsbury instant noodles
Tea party x 2: cake cake cake mince pie mince pie mince pie *sob*
Dinner back home : lettuce, tomato, celery and cucumber salad with tiny drizzle olive oil and large splash fresh lemon juice. Yummy!
Good night ladies, good luck with all the weight loss programmes!

lol, the moment I noticed I thought 'what have I done.. frogga will be furious, and me a newbie, too.'
Jenny - I already get the foot massages and the morning coffee in bed - guess thats why I'm called cheerful.
OH and DS1 & DS2 noticed me posting on here and so I told them about incentives and my idea about them doing jobs for me instead of money. I noticed that DS1 paled significantly at that and quickly offered to put up the cash instead. Typical teenager.
I've warmed to the idea of the jobs now tho, and I've started compiling a list. OH and lads have agreed and OH seems strangely enthusiastic about it all, saying it's an incentive to him too to get things done. Result.:D Now I've just got to do my bit.
Gave away my haribo, well 2 thirds of it to the lads. I'd put it in 3 pots to last 3 days but I'm a realist, I'd have been doing a Nigella and coming down in the night.
Darn need loo again, forgot how the first few days you pee all the time, or is that just me.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

some really useful advise here thanks folks! Have decided to make up a huge batch if 'no point' soup tomorrow which is a weightwatchers recipe for vegetable soup without anything like potatoes or parnips and peas. Can fill myself up on that if it is to hand instead of getting a pack of crisps or a sandwich.
Have also decided to make up some sugar free jelly in little tubs and keep it in the fridge for those moments when it has to be something sweet.
Have decided that I am going to give myself the year to lose 5 stone as I think that is achievable.
The big problem I had when i followed weightwatchers was the cost of eating healithly and how much it cost to cook 4 portions of it. After all there are only so many jacket potatoes you can eat in a week!!!0 -

I use a fine spray of Fry-light, or the tiniest smearing of oil on a very very hot pan, the fat amount is negligible.
