    Hi all!

I have made a wonderful discovery, my Slimming World record from March 2006, when I was all of 96 KG (more than 15st). Now, nearly two years down the line, without trying too hard, I am (still too big but determined to lose more) around 90Kg, which is around 14st, that means that in less than two years and without trying very hard at all, I have lost 1 stone YIPPEE!!!

I am now completely a teetotaler, not for morality or anything like that, just because alcohol does not agree with me and I feel much better if I don't drink at all - this must be one of the reasons.

I am also exercising more, but determined to take at least 3 sessions of at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise and increase my yoga sessions from one to two per week.

    Food today:

Early morning: 1 apple and 1 pear chopped and dressed with 3 tbsps bio yoghurt (full fat, I cannot stomach low fat food, will just have a bit less of the full fat stuff!), sprinkled with a few pumpkin, hemp and sesame seeds.

Mid morning: 1 oatmeal, fig and pecan cookie (was at a gym and there was no other choice, this was the best I could do - but still only 240 calories and less than 10g fat, so not too bothered really - need to remind myself to take a couple of oatcakes with me when I go out, so I don't get caught short when I feel a drop in blood sugar!).

Lunch: vegetarian sushi and something called 'Green Tea trifle' - gave half of it to my friend who was eating with me, and it also did not taste very fattening, ah well.....

Dinner: red lentil and vegetable soup with a small amount of omega oil and a sprinkling of grated pecorino cheese, a bunch of red grapes.

I feel good, I feel positive!

On a different matter, a while back there was someone here who attended the Slimming World classes and then gave the password to us here, is there anyone who is still doing it? If not, I am planning to join and would be happy to do so.

Love to all and thanks for being my great support group!

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hi there mary...

The best place to start with any soup is with your stock... especially if you have had a roast chicken etc.. i just throw the bones in a pan (but not the skin as it goes greasy) cover with cold water, bring to the boil and then simmer for an hour or so and strain..

If im doing veg based soups i just throw chunks of whatever veg i have to hand into the stock..along with some pearl barley, broth mix, lentil or whatever, bring it to the boil and then simmer until everything is tender and then zap with a stick blender (or food processor)
I have even been known to use just the veg peelings (and hubby loved it)LOL when i bulk buy veggies for freezing... all the carrot peel, outer leaves off brussels, broccoli stalk etc.... if you don't want to add lentils etc i would throw in a bit of potato...when you blitz it all down you end up with a more even texture...

Im in the UK at the moment, but when i get home on the 3rd if you like i will type out some soup recipes (or any other kind if you let me know what you like) for you.. i make them up as i go along, but i know its easier to work to set measurements whilst you get the idea and then you will soon be off to whacking in allsorts :-)

hope thats some help and welcome on board :-)

  • Hi everyone.
Wondering if I can join you all? I have tried every diet going over the years and have lost some weight, but never enough! I need to lose around 9 to 10 stone to get myself healthy. Had a cancer scare a few months ago and it made me realise that I have to do something to make sure that I am around to ensure my 3 daughters are looked after by me(am a single parent and their idea of hell would be to have to live with their dad and step mum) Can't afford weightwatchers or similar or expensive food such as fish and chicken breasts. Any advise/support would be really apreciated! Thanks for reading my ramble!!
