I know that my niece is making triffle for tonight....ohh NOOOOOOOOOOO ..shall resist..shall resist okok i will try and resist lol
Hello and welcome AppleMella...
Glad we have another "rambler" i get accused of it all the time...don't know what they mean :-)
im sure we can come up with loads of recipes and stuff that you can use for you and your girls -that don't need expensive ingredients or days of preperation....
When i get home i will be trawling through my cook books n mags again and will dig out some recipes to post....
I have done all the weight loss clubs too, lost loads, put it back on and been obsessed with food... since i joined here i no longer get stressed about it all.
I just get up every morning determined to get to bed time having eaten "sensibly" and then i start again the following morning -it doesn't seem as bad as thinking about it long term... I have decided that this is going to be a life long thing and not a quick fix-that never worked for me :-)
I hope everyone is ok... im going to get off for now and get a cuppa and some toast i think..talk to you all later

Fell off the wagon a bit last night - had 2 shortbreads(M&S) and about 4 choccies:mad: never mind I'll start again today. Got 2 meals at work today, lunch will be ok as it will be all veggies for me, its tea I'll struggle with as we can get what we want and the cupboards there are bulging!
MRSM - good luck resisting the trifle - if it was me I'd have a little portion;)
welcome to any other newbies!:hello:

Taplady
You didn't really "fall off the wagon" you just popped into the "buffet" car :-)
I may well have and ickle bit of triffle... only because niecyepoo is making it -honest .... oh ok and because i love triffle... i could sit in the middle and eat my way out .lol...
Mary... its amazing what keeps me happy... simply learning how to strike through and im all excited -must get out more LOL
As soon as i get home i will get onto the recipes... i think hubbies fave is the chicken n sweetcorn -just like you get in chinese restaurants.... and i will then tell you my version -which is cheaper woohoo -it costs pence!! home made soup and some HM bread and my hubby is happy... And as i have just stock piled bread flour to take home..my bread is going to work out at about 19p for a big loaf-not including the gas of course.-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
AppleMella - Have the same prob as you, little money to afford the expensvie foods and ruled out clubs. (actually my other reason for that is because I've done the rounds and they don't work long term for me).
Desperately need to learn cheaper ways of cooking that aren't just bulking out with stodge. I know it can be done, did it before, just forgotten how!
Decided to note down what I ate yesterday and , BOY do I like my carbs!
Days food were:
4 brazil nuts
3 pieces of lemon drizzle cakehow???
1 banana
2 slices of buttered toast
1 large jacket potato with butter and salad
12 ritz with phili on.
Oh dear, I know better than to eat like that. Now its crystal why I have so much to lose.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

But you don't need to buy expensive foods we'll show you that, and this thread is free and better than any other club, right guys ?Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Hello again folks...
Cheerfulness and apple -I have given up on "slimming clubs, lotions n potions" partly because i begrudge the fees, partly because i end up obsessing about food, and mainly because i like it on here with you lot more :-).....gush gush lol
Im sure you will soon be cooking up a storm .... I cook from scratch and we eat stuff like :-- Hm steak pie (cheapest shin beef and plenty of veg)
- cheese n potato flans (loads of tatties n onions -just a sprinkle of cheese on top and a bit of parmesan in the pastry-saves cals and cash)
- loads of home made soups (using up whatever is lurking in the fridge)
- roast chicken (can go for miles)
- Potatoes n onions done in the oven (great for carbohydrate junkies like myself) -plus cheap n tasty
- cornedbeef hash.. again great for using up loads of veggies
- mince dishes get loads of grated carrot, onions and other veg in and porridge oats are a great way of bulking out mince, plus it thickens stews etc and its good for you oh and best of al they are cheap haha
At one time i was doing a challenge to feed me and hubby for the month on €80 ... and im hoping to get back there soon..
If you have the time-have you considered growing your own veg? even if you just do lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, raddish, spring onions, carrots and potatoes... they are so simple and will save you quite a bit...i grow everything in tubs... they don't need to be fancy, and even better if you have a spare bit of garden... if you have children they would probably love doing it..
OK im rambling again.... will go now.... but i will be back :-)-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hi,
*has been a lurker, reading the first 8 pages and then the end few*
Not really sure whether I am welcome here, as I don't need to lose weight - however I do need to eat more healthily, so all the recipes are proving very useful. So if you lot don't mind me lurking, though not joining the challenge, I'd really appreciate staying on this thread.
I am sure these forums give off motivation - since I've come back to them and felt inspired to do all sorts of stuff.
Hope that wasn't too boring, and hope everyone's having a good day0
