RS - I'm sorry things aren't improving with your DD, you're not boring us at all. We all need someone to talk to when things are tough and sometimes its much esier to write your feelings down. I'm not sure where you can go next with your DD other than to stick to your guns and hopefully she might see how badly she is behaving. As the mother of 2 teenage boys I understand just how stressful it is especially because you are on your own. Does her dad know how she is behaving? could he help out with her? Good on you for chucking out the food - she doesn't deserve it!:T I really hope things improve for you. You are welcome to PM me if you want a shoulder to cry on.

By the way Frogga has lost her top spot to you!;) :D

Hello ladies :hello: keiss - I think I know how you feel. :( OH has been out of work the last 3 Christmases so I had no presents the first year, I was really upset and I gave him money to buy something the second year but it wasn't the same, then last year he got a job starting at the begining of January so said he would buy me something with his first pay packet.......I'm still waiting! It does hurt but men are from Mars....... :wall: Glad to hear you're feeling better though and at least he has a plan :)RS - :grouphug: I can't think of anything useful to say other than look after yourself.I ate half a family bag of crisps last night so that wasn't bad for me :rotfl:Today I had toast and marmalade for brekkie and egg on toast for lunch. I've been baking for tomorrow so I sampled a mince pie and a mini chocolate muffin - very nice even though I do say so myself :D Tea will be minted pea and feta cakes (M&S) with broccoli and garlic and herb potatoes with apple pie to follow if I'm still hungry - well I had to use up the excess pastry didn't I??? :wink:Everybody else, enjoy the day :A

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes.

You are right, I am a lucky so-and-so, I was just feeling so down what with the lergy etc.

DH is wonderful, and I am very lucky to have him. We will go out on our own some time soon once I have recovered from this bug. Whether we buy anything or not won't matter as we will have some together time...something we haven't had much of lately! I feel really bad moaning about him, I think this is the first time I have ever really done it, so perhaps I am excused!

Must dash, DS1 wants to do do Maths and/or Physics A Level revision...he's 18 tomorrow and doesn't want a fuss...we'll have a nice tea anyway.

Thanks for listening and your sensible advice, I really am a right dumpling sometimes!

    Hi all

I have been and out of this forum for so long now, so I recognise some names and not others, therefore I hope I am not intruding.

I am going to lose some weight from now on and I hope to find ideas and support, I want to do it the non-diet way as others mentioned here, just eating healthier meals, less quantity and more quality.

Starting at 14st, meaning to lose slowly and steadily, planning to drop some 3 stones over the next year or so. Feeling positive. Please wish me luck!

Good to be back here, love to all,

    Caterina
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Seem to be around the same weight as I was at beginning of challenge...September or October which is 14st 2 lbs...that was on Monday when I had been dashing around for days will not weigh again until Friday 3rd as DS1 and family leave that day so won't be as tempted as when there are people around.

Keiss...sorry to hear that you have been laid low, glad to hear that you are better now...I know what you mean about the present thing...37 years on and OH hasn't a clue...he usually gets one of the DDs to do the buying but forgot this year so I bought myself the complete Mary Berry book I have wanted for years and was too mean to buy!

DDIL has flu and didn't join us for dinner last night, she is better to-day but DGD2 has thrown up twice....says that she is feeling better now. Good news on that front is that they have announced to-day that they are coming to Ireland to live in the summer, looking forward to that immensely.

Hello all I am new into this thread but not into the idea.

Back in aug Mrs oddjob and I switched roles ( after 10 years).

With the birth of No4 back in May Mrs Oddjob suffered from servere PN Deppression. I was at the time working all the hours possible ( not cause i wnated to just cause thats what work required.

Anyway She is now working and I am at home with the Kiddies. Cutting a very Long story short I know how to run a house. Anyway I love cooking and always cooked for the family even when working, but now I have so much more time I cook everything from scratch and even though we eat more I have lost almost a stone since August. ( yes running around with 4 kids helps but my job wasn't exactly sedentry) anyway Im all for meal planning and healthy eating. As i now have more time to do the shopping ( as I did that as well Mrs oddjob while not exactly usless was brough up with conveniance meals wher ei was brough up on a small holding and breeding our own food).
BAck to point I now get all our fruit and veg from local market and in the new year I will start to get meat from local butchers to.

I am also going to raid my late nans stuff for her home made cereal recipe as I remeber geting givwn it for christmas every year I used to yearn after it. come november.

we have a small garden but I am also going to grow my own veg this year.

( we have a very nicve cooking apple tree in our garden as well and the fruit is so nice.

Sorry to hear that some aren't having such a great time of it at the moment, sending hugs to all that need them :grouphug:

I am well and truly jumping back on the wagon as I feel so bloated and crap after only 3 days of eating rich food that I have had enough.
Tonights tea was roast chicken with savoy cabbage, carrots, broccoli and mashed sweet potato so its a push in the right direction

I spent all of Christmas Eve cooking, making portions of mashed sweet potato, spinach and ricotta canneloni, veggie mince for shepherds pies and small single crust roast chicken and sweetcorn pies. This should be enough to stop us heading for the takeaway whenever we get in late from work.
Also, although some of these things sound less-than-virtuous, they are small portions that satisfy my cravings for comfort food when its cold or I am fed up so I do less damage :D

recovering spendaholic - sorry to hear you having a time of it with DD1. Not sure what to recommend, have you tried reading a book called Blame My Brain by Nicola Morgan? I recommend everyone in the house reads it...it is quite enlightening! You learn about how the teenage/young adult brain works and develops, why and how they behave the way they do, and how to find a way of coping with life with a teenager (honest!). It also helps teenagers see what effect they can have on other people around them.

    - thanks for your support, this is the first time DH has not got me anything at all. He was in tears at one point on Christmas Day, saying he had looked but couldn't think of anything to get me. We both had a weep and then lots of hugs 'n' kisses, soppy aren't we! Oh well, perhaps I overreacted as I was kn*****ed and down with the lergy...it just hurt me that's all. That's enough moaning, I have decided that we need more time together alone. Our boys are both teenagers and can do without us for a few hours, so weather and health permitting, we will be going out on Sunday afternoon (DS2's rugby in the morning!) on our own...aren't we brave! You know, we haven't been away overnight without the boys...ever! Our oldest is 18 tomorrow (28th)...perhaps it's about time we did go away (but not right now!)!! :D

rockie4 thanks too for your good wishes, I would love my man to be from Mars...I was an astronomer once (well, for 6 or so years), so our discussions would have been even more interesting than they actually were! ;)

taplady well done on very small amount weight gain you have done very well. I am going to weigh in next Monday...last day of the year...and beginning of the week, I am not looking forward to it!

    Welcome
OddjobKIA it's good to see a man who is not afraid to enter a women dominated forum. We are a mad but friendly bunch here, hope you can give us some useful tips as well as pick up some of ours.

Must go, DH and DS1 have finished watching Extras (don't like it myself), DS2 and I watched Spiderman 3 on DVD, great fun.

Sorry if I forgot to mention anyone, :Tyoohoo Frogga, and everyone else I have missed:T

    Have a great weekend

PS Floyd, sounds like you have been busy!
