Hiya all
Had a good few "weight loss" days so far.
Have been eating plenty of home made veggie soup and garden produced salads.
Used potato peelings as gorgeous low fat roasties for yesterdays tea and I have replaced beef mince with low fat turkey mince for tonight's cottage pie.
Exercise??? Loads house work, all the scrubbing, cleaning, polishing and hoovering gets me in a nice warm little sweat and I have been cycling to and from work.
Iv'e been drinking lots of filtered water (six big glasses a day) and I haven't bought or made any biccies or cakes so I won't eat them.
Roll on weigh day
Good luck with your weight loss everybody x0 -
Well done on the weight losses :T _party_
Sorry Frogga ..i LOVE porridge :rotfl: ...tesco do one with apple and sultanas mmmm and i got 2 bags of a fruit n nut one..and left them at mums ....boooo
I don't cook my porridge anymore though... i put it in my dish, pour my milk on and stick it in the fridge overnight... it soaks up the milk and is yummy and not at all sticky..and its even nicer with a dollop of yogurt in it... and it makes it even slower releasing than normal:T ...might be worth a try for those that aren't keen.... oooh or try bashing up a banana and mixing it in after its cooked....
well i have had my dinner early...was hungry and have finally learnt that is when i should eat....not when the clock says so:D ..... liver casserole, swede, carrots, nobbies mmmmm
Well im now NOT bowling thrrrrp..so im going with hubby and im going to the supermarket underneath the bowling alley to top up on a few bits...yogs etc... hubby likes hazelnut ones eughhhhh and they do a choc n nut one ewwwwww-think i will stick to fruit ones.. then i will watch hubby bowl... not exactly cal burning... but i only drink cola lite or sparkling water... so no damage there... and i have another 6 jellies in the fridge.. blackcurrant jelly with mandarins this time...should be set by the time i get back and want something;) ... going to be good in the supermarket as im still doing the 80euros to feed me n hubby for 4 weeks..its a doddle at the moment and we are eating sooo well OS style of course...:D .... get my next house keeping on monday and at this rate i will still have 300 euros left from this 4 weeks :j ..so that is gonna start my savings off nicely
well i had better get off and stop rattling on
Keep up the good work everyone :j
Well, when i found out i wasn't bowling i decided to give the living room carpet a going over with some zoflora, warm water and a scrubbing brush...it looks new again..only been here 6 ish weeks, but the pile has come up lovely again - plus i have burnt some more cals :T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
good evening ladies
having a crisis  made veggie burgers for tea from LO's they looked lovely but tasted sour, think OH had left the veg out of the fridge too long, i threw them away, have fed the kids but am now fighting the urge to eat a load of buttered toast, i know i mustn't but all my plan has gone to pot and this is when i want to stray, have put a jacket pot in the oven but thats not going to be cooked for ages, i must resist!!!- prior planning prevents poor performance!

wow, great reading.. It's so good to read I am not the only one who feels this way. It doesn't need a great upset to get me starting eating.. but I was aware of it today. Worked today. In a secondary school and had to give boy a message from his mum. As I walked out of the class, some boy shouted:So, are you our new PE teacher then? hahahahah (obviously having a dig at my size) Never said anything and neither did the teacher!! I know they are only stupid kids but it did hurt.
Rushed to pick up my own kids, once home, had to be out again within 5 minutes to take DD to club, needed to make a snack for her, made 2 sandwiches for me, while I bit into it, I realised I did it without thinking and because I was stressed and p*ssed off, so I stopped. After dropping DD off and picking OH up from work, came home and cooked potatoes and broccoli, had stewing steak in the slow cooker all day, had a minute piece of pastry.
I feel better for recognising my actions.. Although saintly so far, evenings are still killer for me, last night had a few ricecrackers with tomatoes, then some more with cheese, once I had some and it tastes so good, I just don't stop.
Oh well, it could have been a massive bar of chocolate..
Frogga, you weigh once a month, don't you? How do you find that? Is it hard now with only a few days to go? I will weigh myself on the 1st October and work from one month to the next.
mrsmcawber: Thanks for the tip about the porridge soaking in milk overnight. Porridge is the only thing that keeps me hunger free all morning, but I can't say I love the texture once it's cooked so will try that tonight.
have a nice evening everyone. Snack responsible :grouphug: Just think about all your cyber mates rooting for you!! (that is what I will do tonight)0 -
I have to say, I hope it is the OS eating but I definitely felt better today generally than I have in weeks. I had a pretty good night's sleep, have had more energy/less aches and pains, and for the first time in quite a while fought the urge to have a nap at " trough point " in the afternoon and headed out to the DIY store instead !
Did a shop at Waitrose (which I love - not as expensive as you might think, great range of goods and mostly very good quality ) and got lots of reduced price fruit and veg bargains, including the crudities and dip I had for brunch ( no breakfast *blush* ) , along with reduced price cooked sausages, fruit juice and a bowl of chopped fresh fruit ! Mid afternoon snack homemade popcorn and low sugar squash, tea was wholemeal cheese and chutney sandwich with celery and radishes. Dinner is going to be avacado, steamed potatoes and a huge salad - lettuce, cress, cucumber, tomato, onion, beetroot and radish.
I just remembered something quite tasty I used to do years back with the dreaded cabbage. I don't make it now as its not really feasible to make a small quantity just for me !
Sort of stir fried cabbage
Cabbage ( the darker savoy type is better, altho white will do !! ) shredded finely - quantity is up to you
Fresh garlic - sliced or chopped or squished, however it takes your fancy. I really like garlic so I would use 4 cloves per half cabbage but adjust to taste.
Fresh ginger - about a thumbs worth after peeling per half cabbage, grated or finely chopped.
Fresh red chilli - 1/2 a medium one, seeds removed, finely chopped - can use dried flakes if you like but wouldnt advise powder
Sunflower oil
Lemon or lime.
Salt/pepper to taste
Basically, get the aromatics going in a generous splash of hot oil in a wok or big frying pan, then add the shredded cabbage and stir fry for 2-3 mins - add in juice of the halved lemon/lime about halfway through. You can mess about adding pinches of five spice powder or dashes of soy etc if you like. Makes nice cheap but zingy accompaniment to grilled meat/fish and made the dreaded brassica more edible for moi !" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Just remember that the packaged porridge has been processed and doesn't have as much fibre in it and that' what keeps you full longer.
It's meusli if you soak it in juice/milk overnight rather than porridge. Grate an apple into it as well.0
