Well, last night was okay - I ate a cereal bar at around 10pm as I was hungry but it was only 134 calories and I did without my usual hot soya milky drink at bedtime to compensate.
I got up this morning and couldn't get DD1(17) out of bed to go to school. She is in 6th form and is not at all motivated. She said she was too ill to go in but once I had rung and said she wasn't going she got up and made herself cereal and toast so..... I have to be careful that it won't get me down and make me overeat though. The slightest little trigger can set me off!
I have an appointment with the cardiologist this morning at 11.30 to discuss my medication - he might change it since I have had two recent episodes of AF, but I don't know.
Had sugar free muesli and soya milk plus a small banana for breakfast and am planning on having hm tomato and veg soup plus a slice of granary bread made into an open salad sandwich with it for lunch. I went to Aldi yesterday and bought a Turkey Crown roast so will put that in the oven at lunchtime and might make a roast dinner for tea as kids will eat that. I won't have any potatoes but will make loads of mashed carrot and swede though. I sometimes add butternut squash to the carrot and swede and it's lovely!
Horrible and rainy and cold here today so I have taken my huge bag of washing to the launderette as I don't have a tumble dryer.
Hope you all have a great day!
Frogga - I do the thing with the TV programmes too! (however I haven't managed to stick to a diet right through a series yet.... but this time will be different)Jane

Thanks for the porridge tips, I have some at home so will try that tomorrow morning. love to idea of adding spices
Porridge is a great breakfast! I always have a good brekky - just couldn't function else! I usually have a variety of wholegrain cereals with a banana or toast and a banana.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning ladies!
I wasn’t tooooooo bad yesterday, when I got home OH had made a loaf and a load of mince pies – I resisted the pies
Had a slice of the bread with my tea then another with no butter and marmalade instead of a pud. I did nibble a few of my birthday chocs (4) but that’s a huge improvement on what I can usually monster during the evening
Got up early and went for a swim before work.
Before swim: Slice of wholemeal toast and a banana
Mid morning(breakfast): yoghurt, oats and fruit
Lunch: Hummus, Dr Karg’s crispbread and an apple
Tea: Has to be quick as we’ve got to be out by 6.30 so might make a broad bean and pea risotto if I’m home in time, failing that it might be beans on toast!
I will try to resist the chocs tonight - I am on the last layer though.:rotfl:0 -
Yesterday went well here - cheese spread on toast for breakfast, butternut squash soup and a wholemeal roll for dinner, and a luscious pasta bake for tea. The pasta bake really WAS surprisingly nice, so I'm pleased myself not only for making it, but for resisting the temptation to move in for the kill and hoover up youngest daughter's leftovers after she left half of hers on her plate.
Not once yet have I felt deprived or hungry, and the needle on the scale is slowly moving in the direction I want it to go. My only slight niggle is that my bra feels like it doesn't belong to me this morning (why is it that that is always the first place for it to go, yet bum inches are usually the last to depart?!). No matter how much I adjust it, it still feels strange. I've still got a fair way to go, and am not keen on going down all the sizes and buying new bras on the way every other week when I'm not planning to be in them for very long. Perhaps rolled up socks are the answer?
Even with our slip-ups I think we're all doing well. We'll get there in the end
I hope all goes well at the cardiologist's, Jane.Eek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0 -
Hello there mushypeas, as odds said, there is no membership, this is just for those of us who want to eat healthily the OS way. Please don't beat yourself with a big stick about whatever you did yesterday ( or anyone else on here ither :P ) - this is today ! plan as much as you can but take the battle of willpower one meal at a time ! you wanted a croissant but had an apple.. WELL DONE!!
Frogga - great idea re the TV series as a measuring stick.. I'll be watching the Tudors cos I love that kind of series anyway
MrsM, oh yes I love mashed swede n carrot - Ive found thats also a good topping for sheperds pie type dishes ! I really wish I liked steamed cabbage but sadly thats one of the very few veggies I wont eat - I'll eat raw cabbage in salads/slaws or the very dark green kind in bubble and squeak... but cooked white cabbage and brussels sprouts I can't abide
Dazi, I agree with whats already been said about being prepared and taking healthier snacks in to work - I'm not sure where you go if a snack attack strikes there but my way of thinking is, if it takes me, say, a 10 minute round trip to walk to a shop or vending machine to get chocolate and crisps, then I could use that ten minutes at home preparing veg, fruit and other snacks to take with me, and its time better spent.
I love porridge ! and weirdly enough have not got any oats in the house ( took them to weekend work ) so must remedy that today !
Have started the day with a lovely cup of chamomile tea, going to hop in the bath in a minute, then going to spend part of my day off restocking on fresh fruit and veg and some storecupboard basics. Have to be strict with myself - I have eggs, cheese, bacon, avacados and various forms of beans so I really don't need to buy any further forms of protein this week !" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0 -

I had the same this morning. I've just spent £32 on bras in M&S (only place I could find wireless ones in my size! ) and they're starting to get saggy at the sides so I've had to shorten the straps as much as possible but they're now cutting into my shoulders due to the weight of my chest so I can't win!
So far this morning I've had 4 slices of brown toast with butter about 8am, yes I know doesn't sound to healthy but I've managed to resist the crisps & hobnobs in the cupboards so far as I don't feel hungryAlso had 2 cups of tea with skimmed milk and NOTHING else
Just about to go out for a walk and will have a pint or two of water when I get back. Must fill my water bottle up first though and find my pedometer.
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

Thank you all
Yesterday, I had a few cups of tea and later on, I had a serving spoonful of macaroni and a slice of tiger bread(asda is the best). Not very slimming friendly, but I figured I hadn't eaten all day
Today I have had two cups of tea and a very thin (so thin it broke when I tried to lift it!) slice of walnut cake and a bit of apple tart, my mum asked me to try it 'cos it wasn't made with butter but stork.
He is not going to beat me and I'm not going to let my weight beat me, either. I've worked too hard (and paid a lot!) just to end up where I started!

So delighted to have found this thread. I'm done with the faddy diets which work - at the start - and then leave you even heavier than before. I don't have a lot of weight to lose and can't really understand why I make it so hard. Eating less and exercising more really would work for me but I can't seem to stay with it long term. There always seems to be other things to do and now with the dark evenings coming in.... Some motivational tips would be great please and thanks for all those great OS recipes.:T0
