Oh dear! I was doing ok until yesterday when I had to go to a hotel for a course. I resisted the danish pastries on arrival and at coffeetime, ate a small sensible lunch...then had a Crunchy bar at the tea break!!! (They had huge baskets full of them! )In my case it's definitely lack of will-power and large portions that have pushed me from a size 12 to an 18 - admittedly over a period of about 20 years, but still. DH had made a wonderful chicken curry when I got in last night - and did I have a small portion? Nope, you guessed it - I ate a very generous portion. Now I feel bad about it.Resolution:

No ones ALLOWED to feel bad about what happened yesterday! :rotfl: Now it's today so forget about it! The odd "day off" wont hurt , it's a whole year of "days off" that we should be concerning ourselves with. Today is another day xxxx
Donnygal ~ I'll PM you in a mo.
Ive known 3 friends and a whole family of 4 who have done the lighterlife thingy. I was really tempted as they all losts LOADS of weight but there was someting in me that just felt it wasn't the way to go. I agree with the rest of you about sensible eating. My friends said when they were doing it that they would just get the weight off and then they would "learn" how to eat sensilbly. None of them kept the weight off. They have ALL put it back on AND some. It has cost them a fortune as well! It's not the way guys!
I thought of another trick I use to help the weeks go by ~ I look for a telly program that is on a long run and diet along side it. For example , if you watch "the Tudors" which is starting soon and is on for 10 weeks , just get from one episode to another. Think how quickly your favorite programe comes round? Soon the whole series will be over and 10 weeks will have gone by and who knows how much you could have lost by then. I guess you may think it's potty but it has worked for me in the past.
I have decieded that I'm not fat , I'm mearly an actor who has put on weight as the role demands it. Just like Robrt De Nero put on 5 stone to play Jake La Motta in Raging Bull, I too have put on weight for professional reasons. At present I am playing a big fatty but the role has now ended after rave reviews so it's time to get back to the real me. Just wanted to put you straight in case any of you thought otherwise!:rotfl:

EXCELLENT idea about the telly programmes. I've been doing it with biggest loser australia on living TV. When does celebrity jungle start? They eat nothing but rice on there - maybe that would inspire me!
Made some crisps last night, absolutely gorgeous. one potatoe sliced with one of those multi chef things from a charity shop yesterday, and baked. That's it. Need some ideas for flavours though, don't want to be overdoing the salt intake. After all we're being healthy here not just skinny!
Going for the dreaded weigh in later today. Real old style, at a 'weigh house' in the market! I remember going there with my mum when I was teeny (those were the days eh!!)
Going to really try my best today, have a great day everyone. And thanks for all the messages posted here, they really are a fantastic support. Hope they're working for you too. xxx0 -
Morning all
I have done the lipotrim, that you can only get via your doctor - or certain chemists...yep you can lose loads quickly, but i put it all back on with VAT.. and as for the side effects...don't even start me :rotfl:i would certainly never recommend anyone to try it
Well i made a new loaf of bread yesterday, and some beef n onion spread.... so after packing up hubbies lunch, i have 2 pots of spread in the freezer and 1 in the fridge... and im just about to slice the rest of the bread and freeze it for hubbies lunches...
Hubby is a happy chap, as he had to get on the scales yesterday at work..and he has lost 7lb since we got here..about 6 weeks....he is doing more exercise as he is back to golfing a couple of times a week, plus they have to do PT 3 times a week....oh and obviously he doesn't have to think about food - as i deal with that - he just eats what i give him... and he is one of those rare creatures..a man who doesn't throw food in the trolley, and doesn't snack all that often.... although he does have his occasional tub of walnut icecream with maple syrup:p ......
Today im gonna get the windows done, mop the cellar steps and tidy up the laundry room... and then this evening we are off to 10pin bowl in the league... so thats the exercise dealt with :T , i really do find that doing the housework OS is so much better than doing a specific exercise routine... the bonus being that the house is a shiny as a new pin :j
Recovering spendaholic.... phewwww.. glad you liked the steamed cabbage under your bolognaise:D , its amazing all the little tweaks you can do so you don't feel like you are missing out.
Dinner tonight is HM liver casserole, new potatoes-for hubby and chunks of steamed swede for me, cabbage, broccoli and nobbies mmm
Thats another thing i do, i have steamed swede in place of potato... and if i want mash i put loads of swede in it...I love that, plus you get a good portion for less cals...... mashed carrots n swede is another thing i do!!
Odds.... i was only talking to my mum the other day about, how when we used to get in from school we would ask what we were having for tea... only so we knew...then we would all sit down and eat one meal.... there was no... "but i don't want that".. well if there was - the only option would have been to go hungry :rotfl: .. mind you mum n dad always cooked from scratch so the meals were always gorgeous:j and as a result all 5 of us love all veg ... my SIL sometimes provides 4 meals.... her, hubby, son, daughter.. all eating different things
Hi there Nicki... welcome on board..:T
Morning Frogga..not long now....6 days to go..fingers crossed
Dazi.... can you take some small pots with you, with grapes, carrots, etc in - for when those snack attacks happen.. and what about thos ryvita minis, or french fries, quavers etc...they are quite low... as long as its not gonna give you the taste for crisps etc....
We have been using smaller plates...i like using the larger ones, but i just end up filling it...so we have some smaller oval plates..and it really does make a difference....
Hello to anyone i have missed.... keep up the good work folks
Im back...Alfies mum.... have you thought about those "shot" things..they are like little pyramids that have seasonings in and are for doing wedges... should get quite a selection and one would last quite a while:D ...and if you dont want to buy them , you can always just check what they have in them and make your own
forgot to say....good luck for later-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Morning!
had a good day yesterday untill dinnertime:rolleyes: we had to have a pub meal out with work(took 2 service users out for evening) and I had LASAGNE WITH GARLIC BREAD! there was loads of cheese in it!
I need to have 2 really good days now as its SW weigh in tomorrow night!I will be happy to stay the same as I'm nearly at my target.
Breakfast 2 x small wholemeal toasts
snack 1 x banana
lunch 1 x small sandwich and soup
snack few grapes
dinner beef stew with carrot and swede mash.
snack 1 x low fat yoghurt
this is the plan anyway. The only lapse I may have is to have a small dumpling with the stew instead of spuds.
have a good day all!Do what you love :happyhear0 -

anyone can join, there is no membership! Have something more substantial for brekkie, like porridge with fruit. And don't feel guilty about yesterday, just work on today!0

Morning. Taking note of the steamed cabbage instead of spaghetti idea...
Yesterday I had carrot and red lentil soup (one from the recipe thread that had cumin in) - didn't have much else in the cupboards for lunches.
Last night it was lentil and turkey curry (from the freezer) - hm of course so not too high in fat.
And today is green lentils with rice and some chicken - getting a bit sick of lentils though and extremely glad I've been paid now!! Just have to make sure I don't buy too many goodies at the shops today
Edit: yes porridge for breakfast - don't really like it but it's the only thing that keeps the hunger away till gone 10 am!! - add mixed spice, raisins and honey to make it a bit nicer - or raspberries (I'm going to try that this week)working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Thanks for the porridge tips, I have some at home so will try that tomorrow morning. love to idea of adding spicesPrevious debt: £14K :embarasse Debt free: Sept '03

hmm yesterday did not go to plan. went to meet craig from a course and he was over an hour late so we didnt have time to come home for tea before he went to work so ended up at pizza hut. also didnt get the chance to get on the stepper or do any yoga but i did do a lot of walking lol so here goes with today as a fresh start. Hoping the parcel im waiting for will come today so i can get back to the gym first thing tomorrow.
Day 3:
Food:
Breakfast:Porridge
Snack:1 yoghurt
Lunch: 1 cup a soup
Snack:1 apple
Tea:Carvery meal out
Evening Snack:
Exercise: school pick up (dependant on weather) 3 mile walk
10 minutes minimum on stepper
10 minutes minimum yoga
Our kids eat what we eat, unfortunately this means at the moment we eat very early as the toddler is so tired from nursery shes going to bed between 4.30 and 5 so were eating at 4, hence the evening snack. Im out tonight and shall try to be healthy but will be having an ice cream after the meal or i know i will feel deprived and want one for the rest of the month, i go out once a month on the last tuesday.
