On another note - has anyone seen Fern Britton lately? Hasn't she lost loads of weight? Apparantly she won't talk about how she has done it or even say that she's been on a diet but I reckon she's lost about 5 stone and she looks great!
Maybe she had surgery and wouldnt say? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Well I have started.
Frogga - can I have a number please.
Got up this morning and got weighed:eek:   so at least I know where I am starting from. Probably at least 4 stone to get rid of, but would settle for 1 before the end of October. I know .5 is more realistic but let me dream!
I have written down everything eaten/drunk today. Will be having extra bits of food which while using up food bought for visitors last week which did not get eaten, and which DH cannot eat (mainly cheese) but rationing myself to 1oz a day. If I do not get any success then I will be posting this here for you to pick spots off it.
Been good so far, but now feeling a bit hollow, so will make myself drink some water to see if that helps.
BTW - someone mentioned hot chocolate - I learnt this one many moons ago.
Heat up a cup of skimmed milk, or half milk/water if you want. Add a few drops chocolate essence (the stuff you can use to flavour cakes, etc) and sweetner to taste. I think the esssences are around 50p at Mr T's and will last ages.

Thanks Mrs M and Odds - I didn't put any pasta with the cabbage - just used white (coleslaw sort) cabbage and shredded it finely and then did it in my tefal steamer for about 15 minutes and seasoned it with lots of salt and white pepper and 1tsp of Flora Buttery and had my hm bolognaise on top. Have got enough left for another meal tomorrow, or I might freeze it. I made the kids steak pie, creamed potatoes, carrots and gravy and was really tempted but resisted! I have made a sugar free jelly and it is in the fridge - might have some later but I'm not too sure......
Freyasmum - sorry about your breakup - when ex DH and I split up I didn't eat anything at all except cups of tea and coffee for about a week, but then when I did start eating I started "picking" and only eating comforting stuff and I gained weight. However I will never, ever, forget the awful feeling I had when we split up and wouldn't wish that unhappiness on my worst enemy, so I do feel so sorry for you at the moment. It doesn't matter that as time goes on the pain lessens because the pain at the moment it too bad. Look after yourself.

Hope you are all having a good evening. BTW Mrs M - where abouts in Germany are you? I used to live in Aachen and also in Herten, which is a small town near to Gelsenkirchen Buer. I loved it there, but hated it in Aachen."You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

*breathes a sigh of relief* Thanks, MrsM!
recovering, why not make the same dinner for you and your kids so you aren't tempted?? they could have had regular spag bol, and you have the cabbage??0 -
- I have to say I've never understood this 'feed the kids at 5 and the adults at 8' thing. We ate at 6PM every night all together parents + kids. Why make 2 different meals?? Waste of time to me! I wonder if thats why kids these days seem to be such fussy eaters --- they dont' see mum + Dad eating and often get to whine and fuss to eat what they want rather than what is put in front of them. WHy would you eat healthily if you never see your parents eating the same thing??0

I am so disappointed with Fern Britton - I think Lighterlife is so wrong (but its only my opinion so don't tell me off!). How can eating nothing at all except shakes be sensible or right? Plus she always said that she would not go on a diet because she didn't mind what she looked like as long as she was healthy and she loved food - so I think it is a bit shallow of her to do lighterlife. I know I must sound judgemental and who am I to criticise but I would have liked for her to say that she had just eaten sensibly and lost weight IYKWIM.
Have just had some sugar free jelly - blackcurrant flavour - with a squirt of low fat whippy cream stuff on it. It was quite nice!Jane

I'm going to join you I think - I've not long split up with my OH (I still refer to him as this because we're still living together) and I've decided that I'm going to show him I CAN make the changes I've been saying I would (either he asked or I've wanted to make) for the last 8 years
Sooo I got my diary out the other day and had a good look at my weight over the last year - since my heaviest to what I weighed in at on Friday I've lost 1 stone(in reality it's more like 17lbs or so as I know at one point I decided not to keep a record of how much I weighed as it was over 16st). Last weigh in was 15st3lbs and I want to get down to somewhere around 12st7 ish
Not exactly my "ideal" weight BUT I just want to be able to walk into any shop and buy clothes - but more so I'd like to buy a bra thats smaller than a 42G
I've increased my exercise levels (according to my pedometer I've been walking 7miles A DAY  ) but I slipped on stairs about 10 days ago and injured/twisted my ankle so I've not been walking too much until it gets betterI desperately need to start the situps to tone up my tummies (yes, I have folds
) and I've already cut out most snacking. Going through a break-up its tempting to comfort eat but I'm determined that I am NOT going to do that
So, I'm trying to keep snacky stuff out the house, keep chocolate levels to a minimum (sometimes I just need chocolate - but don't most women
) and cook more healthy meals for the whole family

I've always been anti those Cambridge type diets with " meal replacements " and felt they were not healthy either within themselves or for most of the people doing them... I've known a few people do them and whilst yes they have had some astonishing weight loss initial successes, they fail to sustain it... its so so sad and I really feel for them but every single person I know who has done that kind of programme has ended up putting all the weight back on, and more sometimes
its such a shame.
Talking of shame, well, I am made of it today. Lunch failed spectacularly. I had a horrible vile hassly stressy work morning, had to dash off right after to do laundry etc, come 2.30 I couldn't even be bothered to put knife to bread to make a sandwich .. so it was co op ham cheese and lettuce sandwich, crisps, pepsi ( picked up the full sugar version by mistake EWWW ) and a toffee crisp... apart from the crisps, it was pretty nasty. Every mouthful I was thinking " Why o why " in the manner of a person addressing the long defunct " Points of View ".
Have not long awoken from an overly long nap and am sipping on a bouillon drink which is tasty and warming but I still have no clue if or what I will eat later... think it is going to be fruit and cheese and oatcakes as the vague plans I had for dinner involving baked potato and avacado bacon salad are really not going to happen at this time of night. Bah" Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0 -

Can't sleep so am reading the boards and thought I had better post how I am doing.
Sunday was good, stuck to what I posted Saturday night.
Today has been good too, made a big pot of leek and potato soup so had some of that for lunch with HM roll that OH made (awwwww he loves making what he calls his 'buns' lol) got some chicken out for tea to do a chicken and pasta bake but OH rang to say he wouldnt be home so just had some more soup. Will do the chicken thing tomorrow...err well later today.
Am not sure how this will all fit in next week when I go back to work, as I tend to eat out of boredom there. I look at the clock and think eeek only 3 o/c must eat chocolate or crisps.
A while back we got new dinner service, the plates are square and the dinner plates are huge!, also they dont fit in the DW. Yesterday OH says, I think we should use the tea plates for our meals cos they are nearly as big as ordinary dinner plates and we can cut down on portion size. Wow, and he hasnt even read this thread! lol He is overweight too, and would like to lose but hes an HGV driver and not easy for him when he is away, not a lot of options on services, so today he pulled off motor way and went to Tesco for his food, got cooked chicken portion and salad, I was very proud of him awwwwww.
Heres hoping we all have a good day today xxxxxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine
