Bah, all the extra exercise i've got this week shoveling s*** and no loss to show for it  Think my body is holding onto the fat to keep it warm, hibernation instinct or something :rotfl: Ah well, at least I didn't put any back on.
Frogga - My sister was like that when she was younger and now shes a champion scurry groom! Both of us have been able to ride since before we can remember but she definetly got the horse bug whereas I'm not really fussed.
MrsM - I've been brought up around so many animals that I've never really had chance to think about being scared of them. I can see why some people are tho.
NewlyWed - Glad everything went ok. Don't get me started on hostel beds! Stayed in so many when I've been travelling. Why do they always squeak or have lumps or be so low/high (depending if you're on top or bottom bunk) that you bang your head?!
Hello to everyone else :santa2:
Better go hide my christmas shopping now before people get home. Almost finished it now. Can't belive I just spent £12 on one pair of socks for mums OH :eek:I'm through accepting limits'Cuz someone says they're soSome things I cannot changeBut till I try, I'll never know!0 -
Evening ladies!I'm stuffed with the best curry I've ever had - brilliant, Can't remember the Indian name but it was paneer, spinach and tomatoes, quite hot but really tasty! I had rice and naan, we'd had poppadums with chutneys and a veggie platter of starters, no wonder I'm stuffed! Been a good girl on the booze front, 3 glasses of wine......there were a lot of us and we got split up on the way to the pub so me and my mate ended up with a load of research staff and students - quite fortunate really as we had a good excuse to leave early and head for the station.....I'm long past Friday nights out with a load of 20somethings.......so home safe, in my slippers and sat here with a cup of tea trying to stay awake.See you tomorrow girls!0

Evening! Tonight's roast chicken was delish. I cooked it really slowly in the oven, upside down and covered with foil, with carrots, spuds and onions. For the last 45 minutes I uncovered it and turned it the right way. It was so tender it fell off the bone! I drained the gravy of the visible fat and it was scrummy.
I am drinking a glass of wine whilst watching the Wire on DVD as well!0 -

Morning Guys
Can't deciede wether to do the Christmas Food shop today or leave it til Monday?
We are VERY low on food , and Mr Frog has had mince for dinner ALL week! Today he's got pasties and tomorrow Shepherds pie. It has become a bit of a joke when he asks "what's for dinner?"
I wanted to eeek out the food we have til Monday but it's getting quite desparate. I think Sainsbugs will be heaving today but not so bad early Monday?I also know as soon as Christmas food comes into the house it will start to be eaten , so it's better that I wait I think. I have been saving my Nectar points and I have £105 to spend , good eh? Right Monday it is then
Hope you all are going to have a good day. I'm really looing forward to getting back on the wagon I must say. Am starting to feel a bit grumpy about myself again

Morning ladies
The house is in chaos..and im sat here ignoring it all :rotfl: .... I am going to hit the housework like a hurricane tomorrow..really - I am
Hubby has just emptied the car out, as he is off golfing in the morning and then is going to load the stuff into the car when he gets back as we have an early start on Monday...may take him until then to get everything into the car :shhh:
Frogga -I would make do and manage until Monday.... it will be torture over the weekend  ....i make it a rule to avoid doing any major shop on a Saturday -and everywhere here is closed on a Sunday ....
Im making do and managing at the moment.... didn't want to get any food if i could avoid it...so i have made it my mission to use all the odds n sods up:D
so i have just :-- taken some HM steak pie out of the freezer for lunch with veggies n potatoes,
- got a loaf of bread under way -well its sat in a bowl at the moment..so dinner may be beans on toast.. or chilli for hubby..
- Unearthed a pack of braising steak in the freezer -so thats defrosting in the fridge and will get turned into a casserole with all the last bits of veggies lurking in the fridge and that will feed us tomorrow:p
- took out a tub of home made beef spread from the freezer - so tomorrow will make some fresh bread and that will make us a pack up for the journey :T and some corned beef n mustard ones too for hubby
- going to take out some home made pasties and pies from the freezer first thing Monday morning and by the time we arrive at SIL n BIL house that will be a quick -free tea for us... they won't be back until the Tuesday...and i doubt there will be any shopping in
... a couple of days won't do me any harm.. and it will save some cash :j
I have managed to strip our bed this morning..and got that drying.. hubbies uniform is drying and there is nothing else in need of washing :T -so tomorrow will be a run through with the Vac, clean the windows, clean the fridge out, and pack up - i think that is it  ..
Managed to get all but 1 of my hampers wrapped up last night.. well the early hours of this morning actually-so, 1 more to go and thats it done...
I finished knitting the 2nd scarf and made 2 pompoms for the ends.. but can't sew it up yet as i don't have a bodkin  .... so i have started knitting squares as the SIL we are off to see has a wee one who was only 1 a couple of weeks ago (the 2nd scarf is for her) and they have another one due in February  so, by next xmas he/she will be 10 months old - so i thought as part of their pressie i would make a big warm knitted patchwork blanky.... Im now on my 5th square :j
OOOHH frogga... that sealed pot challenge is now being looked after by Nykmedia, and she has just updated the list-so if you post on the thread or PM her you should get added...
JoeyEmma.. i love guacamole  -avocado has to be one of my fave food.. i think its like Marmite.. you either love it or hate it... avocado with prawns, onions and a bit of lemon juice mmmmmmm
Alibow.. its only horses that give me the heeby geebies oh and cows.. mind you SILs horse didn't help throwing a wobble fit when i was there last time  .
Im affraid cats just drive me insane.. that kneading thing they do with their paws and rubbing against you eughhhhh - and to top it all SIL has recently obtained 2 kittens  -still at least at the moment they are only tiny :rotfl:
I have to ask... those socks you got... do they actually do the walking for you? how much? ..... my mum got my brother some last year for under his work boots.. they had a wire thread woven into them to make the heel and toe stronger - which worked... but he got ruddy big holes in the normal fabric instead ... and a lot quicker than the toes would have gone :rotfl:... I hope you warn whoever they are for that they aren't to put shoes on with them..well for £12 i would want everyone to see them :rotfl:
Taplady.. It is a carol service after all, it would be very Un-festive not to partake in a mince pie..especially after a shift that long
MeanMarie.. hope the weigh in went well.. still it is the festive season now.. so don't worry about it.. im sure most of us will be back after xmas with and extra lb or 2
Well ladies i had better get off back to my knitting
hope everyone has a lovely day.. hugs to all those in need
woohoo kittyscarlett hope all is well with you-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
MrsM - I think they should! The most I ever spend on my socks is £2 from good ol' primark. These are supposed to last for at least 1000 miles walking and have some special two layered system that make them extra comfy  What makes me laugh is that mums OH hardly does any walking and lives in sandles most of the year!
My cat is sulking somewhere after we had to give her a wash last night. She was not impressed. She guessed what we were up to and attached herself to the curtains so we had to detangle her from them before we could get her there :rotfl:
I'm absolutley full of cold this morning and really don't feel like eatting. Have managed a bowl of shreddies so far. Think I might make some soup for lunch. Anything thats easy to eat as my throat is soreI'm through accepting limits'Cuz someone says they're soSome things I cannot changeBut till I try, I'll never know!0 -
Our handbell group has been busy ringing carols and other music at various venues locally. Had a lovely nativity play with 6 year olds in the local very big church, with all the school and all the parents. Angel Gabriel really did try to fly, all the way through the play.
We rang the handbells and they sounded gorgeous!
We even had the six year olds ring the bells, which for their little hands was tremendous effort. They did well. Their families and the other children just loved watching them perform.
Ain't Christmas fun.
Elder daughter is recovering from her pneumonia, but it is taking time. Her work has been fine... not to go back until 7th January at the earliest. Younger daughter will be coming home from France at the end of next week. We shall meet her at Dover, then she is off to lots of parties with her Uni friends.
Foodwise, slightly chaotic, but stayed steady, which is a result. I even managed to put half a pack of goodies, uneaten, back into the cupboard. I would normally have eaten the whole packet and then bought another packet SO THAT OTHERS WOULD NOT HAVE GUESSED I HAD EATEN THEM.
This is a very good result for the no-diet thing. I did not overstuff myself through guilt AND have not bought another packet.0 -
Thanks MrsM , I'll go over now ~ when you come back to Blighty are you going to be unable to post ? Oh heck I hope not :eek:Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D
