Its something i only ever had from one place..my dad used to treat me when i was tiny (yes..i was once tiny:rotfl: )... we used to go into town to get his money, do the shoping and he would get us a "slab" of that and a ham hock for lunch... then dad would put it on a plate and we would sit at the table whilst dad hacked lumps off it for both of us....no wonder im big :rotfl: as this was before i started school - and i still remember it :p ... i just love it..but only a small piece at a time..im just hoping that they haven't changed the recipe ..but i bet they have

We never used a recipe! it was just whatever we had at the time like unsold swiss rolls from the shop and was all piled into a huge bowl and mixed up.

I have never thought of myself as a possitive kind of person  its only recently that i have stopped being a grumpy old moo :D .. have decided that it just makes everything worse.... so now i have planted a "happy" seed and water it every day and it will grow into lots of happy, possitive thoughts :p ... it has a knock on effect see.... if you can just MAKE yourself think possitive thoughts to start with they breed and you end up feeling happy and possitive :T

I seem to get later and later here every day. I am certainly not dwindling in any way unfortunately!

    Today I ate:

    muesli with extra dried fruit and milk, glass water;
    lunch...roast chicken, roast potatoes, leeks onions;
tea...4 small thin slices hm rye bread, 2 rashers 2 sausages..no butter.

Have also had 4 or 5 dates...love them and will have half dozen brazil nuts and couple dried apricots before I go to bed.

Want to make some soup tomorrow, need something to warm me up during the day and seem to have gone off tea and coffee somewhat so will have a root in the fridges and cupboards in the morning.

    Night all,

Horray, finally got the reply page to work! Seems like I'm not the only one having problems with the site.

Frogga - I had Always look on the bright side of life stuck in my head through my whole driving lesson and now its back there cos your post reminded me of it :rotfl:

I really want some options hot chocolate now! I have the sainsburys good for you stuff at the minute and its yucky unless made with all milk and wisked up which surely defeats the point of it being healthier. We went to the harvester for tea tonight (couple of belated birthdays to celebrate) so I'm now feeling rather stuffed. Had salad cart for starters, chicken fajitas for main and a baileys hot chocolate for pud, mmm :o Have promised mum I will walk to the pub tomorrow to put up a poster for the christmas tree festival. We were going to drop it in on the way back from the meal but I figured this way it'd make me get exercise (half mile up hill and half mile back down again).

Who mentioned perscriptions? Bl**dy expensive things! I've stopped taking all of mine recently and actually feel fine. Only one I'm keeping hold of is my blue inhaler just incase.

Right before I go: Stilton pate recipe (from sainsburys fresh ideas mag)....
Gently melt 100g unsalted butter in a pan. Reserve butter fat that floats to the top and discard watery butermlik at the bottom. Roast 50g shelled pistachios, then chop. Beat them together with 2 x 200g packs of half-fat cream cheese and 6tbsp natural yougurt. Season with black pepper. Stir in 200g rindless crumbled stilton, making sure it stays chunky. Line a ceramic terrine with clingfilm and spoon in the stilton mixture, pressing it down well. Level the top off with a knife. Pour over the melted butter fat and scatter1 and half tsp of each roasted pistachios and red peppercorns. Chill for 2 - 12 hours.
    I'm through accepting limits
    'Cuz someone says they're so
    Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
  • Hello everyone - this is the first time I have been able to access the site for about three days - for some reason the page wouldn't load - everything else on the net seemed okay so I presumed that everyone was having problems, but it seems some of you have been able to get on okay. Anyway - haven't had time to catch up on all the posts yet, but I do remember Russian slice Taplady! I always found it to be too sweet though (mind you, I still ate it!) - haven't seen it for years.

I am still perservering with my "no diet" approach but I had a major wobble last week because I had actually gained weight, but then over the weekend I started to feel much lighter and have actually lost half a stone since Friday. I think I am starting to get used to more regular meals, but it is such early days that I don't want to tempt providence IYKWIM.

I went to the weight management clinic at the hospital on Friday and they supported my new approach wholeheartedly, which was encouraging.

Three weeks till Christmas! I don't know what to make for Christmas dinner. Usually I make loads too much and don't enjoy the day because I have overeaten to a ridiculous degree and this year I don't want to. I will have a mince pie and some Christmas pudding, but I am not going to buy in all the chocolates, biscuits and so on which I usually do.

Anyway, I will get off up to bed now, and hope to catch up with all the posts tomorrow - if the site will let me enter again!

    Morning all. Morning frogga ;)

Tried the options white chocolate last night. Erm, well let's say it must be an acquired taste - won't be buying a whole pot of that one for sure ;)

    Don't fancy a coconut flavour one - haven't seen that anyway ;)

breakfast was oats with bran (must get jumbo porridge oats).
Lunch is ham and pickle rolls (was making the kids rolls and decided that would do for lunch for me too).
Tea is HM chilli from the freezer.

Car didn't start yesterday lunch so couldn't go shopping, didn't start all afternoon and one of the guys wanted the parking space (visitors bays have clamping over 2 hours and we only have 3 spaces for all of us). He wouldn't go park 5 minutes walk up the road even when my car wouldn't go

Today he brought his car and parked outside because it was "too wet today" so guess who had to go park up the road and get drenched  Chilvary (sp?) is most certain dead in our office - it's always me, the only girl that has to go park all the way up the road. OH gets mad because it means I have to walk up past all the industrial estate in the dark to get my car :o Says I'm too soft and should just nick the space and refuse to move.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

Wow- I've just actually spent a second reading people's siggy's. Frogga's weight loss challenge seems to be inspirational- there's some amazing weight losses on this board!

Well yesterday was a bit of a poor day. I ended up in the best ever Polish bakery yesterday and intended on getting just a coffee but an amazing soft baked pretzel fell into my hand as well. I justified it as it wasn't full of butter like the croisants and weighed next to nothing.

    I ate the following
B- Porridge made with half skimmed milk and half water
L- Tomatoes roasted in the oven on granary bread with a couple of anchovies on top
T- Beef stew cooked with mushrooms, onions and beer served with sugar snap peas and brocolli.
Snacks- the Pretzel, a yogurt (which I later realised was about 4g of fat!!!) and some cheese from making OHs butties. I think I picked at other stuff but can't remember.

Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch and am going top suggest going for something like ramen as they are low in fat and scrummy. I seem to be craving Eastern food. I had sushi on Monday.

On the OS front, I've done 2 loads of washing already and the window cleaner has FINALLY done the windows. We've lived here for 18 months and whenever I see him and ask him to do them he says yeah, next time and never comes back. Yesterday I went running out in the street with wet hair, slippers and a dressing gown begging him to do them. I can't believe the difference it makes. They were FILTHY!!! Now I've just got to clean them properly on the inside!
