Unusual month with a big credit card bill covering car service cost and a sailing holiday, however I also sold some shares from my S&S ISA which I have subsequently moved into various RS accounts and P2P.

ISA Portfolio has been performing very well lately, +3.58% performance in July vs +1.18% for Vanguard LifeStrategy Acc. Outperformance in June, May, April and March too! Probably down to the mini revival of Sterling!

Been interviewing for a few jobs in London lately, so hopefully I will have a new job in Londonsoon and will need to start thinking about where to live (really want to try buy to avoid renting).

Overall £465.14 saved for July. (Can't give a breakdown because there is so many moving parts!)

Well done for managing to have a positive net balance if you are jobless!!

Good luck buying in London. Let us know how that goes!

Three weeks off, a nice break abroad, then back to part time flexible retirement knowing I can walk out at any time! I'm also going back to university at 60 to to a part time course in a subject I've always wanted to study.

So with half pay and a pension, and no additional pension contributions to pay, I'm hoping I'll be working half the time for twice my current take home pay. I'm slightly anxious I've horribly miscalculated though

I can only stress to the younger people on this thread how important it is to sort your pension out as early as possible and then to pay extra as soon as you can. I know it's difficult in the early years of a mortgage, young family etc. and when retirement seems an eternity away. But honestly, the decades fly past so quickly and by the time you think of retirement, it can be too late to do much about it then.

I know I sound such an old gimmer! :o

University at 60! I applaud you! What are you studying??

I hope that's the kind of options i have at 40 or so.

Woohoo! Definitely voting for you SF and many congrats on your recent news too!!!

Reporting a big fat ZERO in savings for July BUT it's due to some happy news as we've made an offer on our first ever home, so lots of costs rearing their heads in the next few weeks!

So my grand savings total is down to £54,302.54

Still aiming for 15k by the end of the year though- which may be a little optimistic - £7302.19 to go!

    Keep saving guys!
