    #102 declaring £2696.30 :j

I would like to thank Thomas Cook for changing the airports of the all inclusive holiday I booked last year for June 2017 without giving me any warning...Which made me demand a full refund, slap myself for booking such an expensive holiday anyway and book an alternative cheaper holiday...Always look at the bright side :rotfl:
I have now saved 57% of my goal  Fingers crossed I will finally be able to buy a house in the next couple of years.
  • Morning All. Number 11 declaring £3010 for March. Update form filled in. Have a great day everyone.
  • My end of Feb figure was £750, not -£50, I think I didn't explain it properly and I have only managed to save £150 this month, bringing my end of March figure to #132 £900

I have just made my savings for March up to £1000 as it's pay day but think April could be a struggle. Still ahead for the year at the moment though.
Spend less now, work less later.

SF Please can I change my goal for this year? Think I will aim for £24k. Thank you.
  • Number 047 reporting in for March

March once again has been a rubbish month for savings (£100.80). However from April onwards all my standing orders have been set up so that I have a set amount to spend each month!

Also this month I've had my service charge for the next 6 months which I haven't had a chance to save for having only moved in in December. It's in my monthly bills now so I'll have it stashed away for the next payment in October.

Being held accountable by everyone here really helps focus the mind about where your money is going!

Ooops, fell off the waggon in March and booked a holiday :o so minus £879.50 for me. However, on the bright side, we have finished paying off the car now, so it is full steam ahead for the next few months :T There was no point delaying the holiday when we could spend the existing savings and replace them later in the year.

I pay over £860 per month in nursery fees, but I don't really have nights out, expensive hobbies etc. I would love to be able to save!
Nursery fees are a killer aren't they? Are you using the childcare voucher scheme? Our fees are similar but both hubby and me get £243/month each in vouchers which reduces our salary by about £170 each so doesn't feel as bad.

I look back and realise I had loads of money before I had a child! :p On the plus side, if you can live within your means whilst paying the nursery fees, then once they stop, you can save/invest that amount per month. :) I am looking forward to September when the free hours will kick in for us.
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

    Hi everyone

I'm reporting £1453.57 for March - it's been quite an expensive month for us, but much of that is holiday-related as we've just yesterday got home from a fortnight in the sun. Also had to get the wife's car through its MOT and annual service, so quite a bit of cost there too.

Really encouraging to see everyone still staying so focused on saving...3 months done now!

...And 30 pay days until FIRE...

  • Hi. Reporting 1813.83 for March. Not quite as good as I'd hoped for, but partly due to changing credit cards (and therefore repayment date was at the end of March instead of beginning of April). Now to fill in the form.

    Thanks for keeping me motivated

An ok £940.59 for me this month. Below the average I want to save, but still above where I want to be for this point in the year. I had a short holiday this month and, if that hadn't happened, or indeed even if it had been on-budget, I would have smashed £1,000 for the month, but you live and you learn. More importantly I didn't get into debt or dip into savings - I just saved a bit less this month to cover it.

For weird accounting/YNAB reasons I've already saved £400+ for April so I'm hoping for a much better month. And it's LISA month!! Anyone else waiting for announcements of savings LISAs? I've already transferred £200 into my HtB for the month in anticipation of a switch - although unlikely!

    Happy second quarter everyone :)
