  • Managed to scrape together my savings for this month. April will be super hard considering my car decided it was very sick and needed a fortune spending on it. :(
    Good luck everyone.

Managed by usual £1000 but sadly lost my job unexpectedly so will be job hunting again. Financially I'm ok for a good while so time to find just the right thing and it does help to live in central London in my sector.

All the best with the job hunt TallGall :)

Well done with all the great saving everyone :T, and congratulations to nellis for becoming officially DEBT FREE!!

Number 71 checking in. There's some really impressive numbers out there - well done.
I knew it would be a lean month as March is a low income month for me and the car has it's MOT and insurance - so I'm declaring £376.90 this month.
In April things will be a bit better as gardening work takes off again and people start going on their holidays.
Good luck everyone and thank you for the thread Slowlyfading.

Well the huge credit card bill turned up. I am now £1174.38 down! Still, I have some lovely new furniture :)

Back on track for April. I'm not expecting any huge spends so hopefully I will be able to recoup some of the money I am now down!
  • #104 checking in with my usual amount - £750.

    £200 into a H2B
£550 into my First Direct Savings Account

Okay, so I've just been lurking here and reading people's posts and I am amazed at how much people manage to save each month! Please please can someone tell me how you do it?! I feel like I have no spare money at the end of the month, I have completed a budgeting tool and it still seems that there isn't just nothing left at the end of the month.

I pay over £860 per month in nursery fees, but I don't really have nights out, expensive hobbies etc. I would love to be able to save!

The nursery fees! It is ridiculous, isn't it? So expensive...I used to be a Nurse Manager working 48 hours per week (good salary) and I paid £750 per month in nursery fees (3 days per week for one child). I couldn't save anything! Once I had my second child I decided to forget about a management career and became a part time staff nurse, working two night shifts during the weekend...It was quite a drop in terms of my pay but I don't need any childminder/nursery for my boys so I am able to save quite a lot now! If you had told me 2 years ago that I would aim to save £10000 in 2017 I would have laughed in your face! Think positively, eventually your child will go to school!

Thank you so much for those words...I honestly feel like I'm never going to be able to save again sometimes! I have two kids who were at nursery full time, costing me £1400 per month. However that used up my entire full time wage each month and I was in a job I hated. I have just accepted a part time post and am cutting nursery down to 3 days per week. Thankfully my eldest has just turned 2 so she now gets the 15 hours funding. I hope in another 3-4 years I can sign up for this challenge with confidence. Good luck with your saving x
  • Hi all, hoping to join late to the party! My plan is to get my debt paid off and save £2000 this year and then next year save around £6000! Though all of this forecasting only works if I keep my temporary promotion.

You guys are all doing great!
