More then I expected as I had a maturing bond, and got some money from parents this month..
I will see what next month brings, extra money in pay and end of tax year, so no doubt we will be busy...

Hi everyone
I got paid today so I paid myself first lol straight into my savings pot £496.
I am having an expensive month in March the car MOT is due and I have mums birthday and mothers day to plan for but thats the difference from before in that I'm now planning them rather than oops where the money coming from.
Good luck everyone.0 -
I am declaring today as I am determined not to spend another penny between now and payday on Thursday - I have picked up emergency medical supplies in the form of Lems1p and Streps1ls so now my purse is staying firmly in my bag..!
So #62 declaring £497.24 for February, which I'm delighted to say is over 10% over my monthly savings target of £450. It's months like these I'm hoping will help me reach my annual target. The extra is from a survey site, some interest, a couple of unexpected refunds, some cash back, and then just some tidying up of my current account.
I'll fill in the form now - thank you Slowly Fading for updating!
Good luck to everyone else as we near the end of the month and thank you for everyone's support and encouragement!

Well... #25 declaring £382.11. Great result for me as I had a target of -£100. I am £177 behind plan. The slow start to the year for me is due to the OH being on SMP and having our savings as back up for this. Very frugal february but I don't expect the same in March due to some larger planned expenses. Target again will be -£100 (at a push).
Happy saving! You should pay attention to the needs of the moment - otherwise there is no future. But to ignore the future is foolish - living solely for the moment leaves nothing for when the next moment arrives.0 -
Hiya, I've cheekily added myself to the spreadsheet.
Can I officially join?
I'm hoping to save for my Emergency Fund this year - £8000
Cumulatively to date I have saved £800 so added that as my Feb total.2024 Challenges- Grocery Budget (January £0/£300)
- Decluttering (Underway!)
- Frugal Living (January £0/£500

Do you all have regular savings accounts or where do you keep the money you're declaring?
Mine's all sitting in my current account so not sure if I'm saving or by how much really, if that makes sense? Would rather put it to one side that in with my day to day monies!
In declaring your amounts saved, do you include money towards ISAs or anything??0 -

I am still building my emergency fund up to £10k so that money is all my "Tilly tidying" - moving the bits and pieces from my current account to the adjacent instant saver. I check on a daily basis and round down my account to the nearest £5, £10 or £50 (depending on how flush I'm feeling) - I always push it a bit and then manage with what is left - I know if there is lots in the current account that is not earmarked I get all frivolous and spend it on things I don't really need.
I also count any regular savings account contributions and anything going into my ISA and DH's ISA. I am not counting my mortgage overpayments as I am accounting for them in the MFiT T4 thread (Mortgage Free in three, Take 4).
I have to say I am amazed at Tilly tidying - it is brilliant for me. Obviously we all do things a bit differently and may count different things in different pots - it does not matter - you do what works for you and count what you want to.

I count everything which goes into long term savings and (almost) definitely won't be spent within the year. Most of my money is held in an ISA which earns a pittance in terms of interest. I have a couple of regular savers, one which I pay out of my monthly income and goes towards my monthly savings stated on here and the other is paid out of the money in my ISA (well worth taking the money out as the interest is so much higher and, when both RS's mature, the amount transferred back into the ISA is well under the annual amount permitted).
I also have a couple of accounts with Te5co to benefit from the 3% interest and will be looking for additional options soon for the rest of my savings to optimise interest earned (while maintaining easy access for the majority - just in case!). My home town was left bankless recently but a new one is opening in the next few months, so I will be seeing what they have to offer.
I definitely recommend setting up another account of some description to hold your savings separately from your disposable budget. For me, the temptation at seeing £XXX readily available would make it too easy to spend it frivolously! It also provides satisfaction from seeing the savings amount steadily increase, no matter how little that might be by for many of us!£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000
