I put all my 'nitty gritty' money aside in an instant access account, which gets interest, rather than leave it in what I consider to be my main current account, which doesn't :);).
Why isn't your main current account one that gets interest? Have you already filled them all with your savings?

    February update!

I had a low spend month and have been paid interest on a regular saver, so managed to save £2,053. So far in 2017 I've saved £2,246 and my new overall total is £111,368.

Love reading all your updates, keep up the good work!

  • Hi guys! My name is Oliver and I'm new to MSEForums!

I hope I'm not too late to hop on this bandwagon!

Put me down for £18,000 in 2017! I need some motivation to not be frivolous!

    TIA,

  • Morning savers,

I was paid the other day so I've allocated my savings out in YNAB and I'll process today/tonight.

    £200 into my HTB
    £450 in my FD Saver

    £650 in total :)
  • #100 reporting £644 for February.

Had a mad panic just then because I couldn't figure out why my actual savings (£644) was so much different from our Jan potential (£1150) then I remembered we've bought flights to America this month at £435 which makes up for most of it :-)

March is going to end up looking pretty rubbish as well as we are paying off the rest of our holiday to Orlando in April. Bring on May when we can really start putting the £££ away!

Starting to experiment with a S&S ISA don't really know how to report the gains/losses for this as it could be quite variable month to month but it'll be sat in there for 2-3 years so it's more about the bigger picture.

Just report what you've saved, don't bother with the gains/losses as these change daily and can obscure your actual savings effort.
