Was looking forward to kicking off February's savings with a nice little boost from not paying the council tax this month, only to find they took it anyway.

I am not on 12 monthly payments

Am I wrong? February and March are the months you don't pay if you pay 10 installments..?

You're right. Feb and March are the non payment months. Ours differed last year as due to a mix up they didn't take the first one in April. Maybe something like that has happened?

Yes, more than likely. I'll give them a ring on Monday. Every day last week I had to sort out a mucked up payment with someone. I seem to spend a lot of time on the phone lately getting my dosh back!

At least you are monitoring your account and have noticed. I hope you are asking for a goodwill gesture where they are making the mistakes...

Can you put me down for £1,500 for January please? #152

Hoping to add another £500 to that this month :)

We did aim to save 2k last month but the house needed a new carpet (hall, stairs & landing) which set us back 1,000!

    Excellent saving peeps :)

I have added myself to the list, waiting for my number!

I have saved £36,200 and managed to save £269 in Jan as I had to pay 2k for uni fees! :(
My savings have taken a bit hit as I am self funding my MSc which is a total of 8k but I will persevere. I aim to reach my 40k target, save my last 4k for uni then start again. For an extra push I will go for 10k this year:money:

  • If it's not too late I'd like to join, for £9000. That'll only be between Feb and Dec, as I don't have the full data for Jan.

I'll be adding up the balance on all of my accounts at the end of the month and subtracting outstanding mortgage debts - my aim is to decrease the net debt position by £9k in the rest of the year. I think most of you aren't including the capital element of mortgage repayments, so hope this is ok.

I'm hoping that having a target (and public accountability) will keep me motivated to do the best I can in the second half of the year when I'm on mat leave, rather than temporarily giving up on saving like last time around. Thanks in advance.
