  • @londonice Hey :) I have paid off all the loans, in fact my signature used to be of all my debt but now it is of all my savings :)

  • Hello everyone,
It is time for my monthly update!
Now, first of all.  I have no idea where you find this post now.  I cannot seem to find it within the realms of MSE since it was all changed around.  The only way I can access it is if I go into my profile and find out the replies and click the link in there.  That must mean that even less people are reading it now!

THis month has been an expensive month and I think for the first time since having savings, I have actually used some of them.  First of all, I needed a new wardrobe.  It was/is long overdue.  Clothes just did not fit me anymore and quite frankly, I needed, yet deserved to buy a few 'going out' outfits.  I invested in a personal shopping stylist from IG who helped me with my purchases.  It was a great day.  I also spent considerable money on various other expensive personal grooming experiences.  Again, this is all great for my wellness and I am aware of what I have spent.

I think I spent around £3.5k over budget this month.  It is important though that I see the long term picture here and not just look at it as an isolated month within a calendar year.  I know that when September comes and I am back at school that the spending will go down.  I am still putting money into the HTB and my fund with my sister.

But those of you who regularly contribute (or indeed just read and go) don't worry about me.  I'm in a good place and financially this was something that I wanted to do and didn't/do not feel guilty about it.
Let's hope the weather improves though yes?!

Fab to hear from you! This is all budgeted; if it helps ease you back into 'normal' life, then it's money well spent in my view.   It does feel odd, doing a few things again I find.  I suppose we'll be working out what the new normal is.

Hope you have a wonderful summer.

    Love Humdinger

    Hey Zippy,

Lovely to see a fresh update. You saved it, you can have a little spending spree occasionally if you want/need to. There is no point in saving and saving if when you want something you don't go and get it. Let's be honest - what good is a nice new wardrobe if you don't have lovely new clothes to put in it. :) So glad you don't feel guilty  B)

Forgot to say - your post is still sitting in the Loans section.
It will bounce to the top with the most recent comment and drop down with the most recent post always at the top.
You can bookmark it though and then find it in your bookmarks if you want to by clicking on the icon on the left of it when viewing it in the loans boards. (Screenshot shows your post has a coloured ribbon icon to the left of the title).

    Hope this helps.

Lovely new clothes zippy. I've always wondered about using a personal shopper but never have. Good to hear you enjoyed the experience. What's IG?
Are you still enjoying living in your new flat?

  • Hello everyone - sorry for the radio silence.  I think this is the first time I have not posted for quite a while!
Thanks to the usual suspects for checking in with me! I'd love to buy you a drink sometime to show my gratitude!
August was very expensive and actually September is going the same way as well.  I'm aware of it though and still filling in my excel spreadsheet.  I'm just spending ages working out what money goes where but I'll do a proper update at the end of September.

  • @zippygeorgeandben hello to you! Looking forward to the update; I think as long as you're aware that you're spending like a drunken sailor and plan to pull it back in, that's OK.  It takes a little while to establish equilibrium after paying off debt and your antennae are clearly excellent , so give yourself credit.  Onwards and upwards love Humdinger x

  • Hello everyone!
    Monthly update time.
Full disclosure, I'm aware I am spending more money than most months at this moment in time.  To make it worse, I don't have excel on my laptop anymore because my office subscription has expired so I cannot do my monthly budget spending.
I applied for an interest free CC last month; just to split the spends and I can snowball pretty well (like I did before).  I cancelled the Amazon CC I had because, well, it wasn't worth it for the £10 gift card you got for spending ridiculous amounts.  So I have an 18 month interest free card at the moment I am using instead.
Like I say, I will still keep popping on so give me advice when you can!  Always appreciate it and it cannot always be a smooth ride.
    Thanks for reading.
